Kiko is the best thing to happen to Megadeth since Freedman. Just a breath of fresh air. And Dave is shreddin as good as ever! Good to see that he still can't be blown off the stage even by someone of Kikos caliber. I think they are great together! I cant say enough about them. Dirk absolutely kills it too!

Agree. I love Friedman, but I actually became more of a Kiko fan. Kiko to me is more dynamic. Not that Friedman isn't, just Kiko has this style I really really enjoy. And with Dave together.. Holy Moly man. They actually really really compliment each other very well. As for Megadeth styles, Kiko has that Poland fusion thing meets his own Kiko style. It's weird, you can hear it on a few of his own solos throughout Kiko's solo album, and on Dystopia. Anyhow. Kiko and Dave rule, and Dirk is kicking ass well. I really believe this is a solid lineup, and obviously inspiring for Mustaine. After The System Has Failed, the albums with Broderick were just "ok". IMHO. The songwriting was kind of in limbo. There were good tracks here and there. Then Dystopia came out. It was familiar, but brand new, and in your face. The songs flowed more and so on. It sounded recharged, refreshing etc. Can't wait for the new album.
Couldn't agree with you two more. Been a Megadeth fan for like 30 years now. I love Marty and will always respect him but Kiko just seems to fit perfectly. His Brazilian flair that he adds to his solos and just his all around vibe is fantastic. Plus there's not a damn thing the man can't play. Same goes for Dirk. I mean a drummer in Megadeth who's known for his own signature blast beat, yes fucking please. Hoping with The Sick, The Dying, and The Dead being their 2nd album Dave let them both have a little bit more freedom to show off if nothing else.
For me it seems that Kiko flows through solos. Like he feels them. I really became a fan of his when I started watching this behind the scenes when they were on tour. HE seems like one of us. A big kid on tour around the world and just enjoying everything. There is one his daughter is with him backstage and he is running around playing with her right before he walks on stage. Its so great. He is the only Megadeth guitar player I havent seen them with live. I have to cure that lol. Just hope they come closer than the 5 hours is the closest right now. But I am sooo excited to hear the new stuff. That 30 second teaser they released sounded Thrash and I am excited.
For Me Friedman is GOD. It also helps that he played on the most successful albums (rust in peace, countdown to extinction and youthanasia) said that i love Kiko's playing and composing chops since Angra days.

Same. Marty will always be one of my 3 favorite guitarists of all-time, but when it comes to guitar skills, knowledge and versatility, Kiko is leagues ahead of him. I'd put Kiko on Guthrie Govan's level (Kiko easily held his own when they both jammed together, there's a video on this site).

Dave might not be the nicest person on earth but he is a true fighter, a true warrior!!!! He doesn't quit, he never gives up. No one can't deny that. My favorite band is back stronger than ever. Of course a huge shout out to the rest of the guys: kiko, no words to describe. Dirk, is a fucking beast and the tempo is out of this world. James is an underrated bass player, it feels like he never left...excellent musician!
You should hear Dave's voice now so much better after touring again the show i saw in September was phenomenal and his voice took me by surprise. Almost studio quality for the song sweating bullets.
A truly magnificent recording. I saw them live but they didn't play Dystopia or COD. Despite everything, their concerts were extraordinary, I will watch them again when I have the opportunity.

Lol nah since day one Kiko’s been playing Ibanez. For a while he played the Brazilian brand Tagima but he’s set on Ibanez since he was a teen according to his own account. Gibson does not fit him. Tbh I’m even surprised that Dave’s playing a Gibson. Regardless of brand they still sound amazing and that’s all that matters.

Never cared that much for Megadeth but Kiko Loureiro is a Fucking demented beast with those strings. What this guy achieves with the guitar is so deep it makes you shrink.
