    Ty.... Start by removing from the back, it is much easier to pry, it is the only side needed in my case with no tools, no need to pull from the rest of the sides. Best part of this video, info that screws aren't underneath rubber like some manufacturers.

    So thanks to you, I was easily able to open up my daughters laptop. To be honest, it took a bit to get it open, but no damage fortunately. What started this whole thing is because she said that her charger just stopped charging the laptop. We bought this laptop around 2019/20. She believed it to be the charging port and got a quote to replace it for $200. Wow. For her that was not an option. So this is where I decided to fix it, and so I watched your video👍. Excellent help it was, so ordered the part and received it the next day. Replaced it, however, to my chagrin, still didn't work. Hmm. Would the next logical assumption be bad battery? She purchased this from a reputable computer store as a 'refurbished' laptop (I figure some background story helps). I noticed that the battery was not screwed in, so when I was opening the back it was loosely in position. I was careful not to let it slide around and disconnected the battery before changing the charging port like you suggested. Any ideas? Thank you for your help, and once again great video.

    Hey, I'm pretty sure the other SSD slot was NVMe too, those metal strips below the plastic piece should be the actual contacts for the SSD, which straight up looks like a NVMe slot. You could have tried your SSD in that slot just to make sure. If it was SATA it would just be blocked from entering and wouldn't damage it at all. Other than that, this video is straight on point, anyone with a similar one surely will get a lot of information from watching this, good job!

    • @ItsBinhRepaired

      I don't own these computers, so I don't experiment with them in case it messes things up and prevents them from booting. The chances might be small, but when doing repairs for a living, even a small risk can damage the reputation of my business is someone brings it in for a charging issue and then ends up with another issue. If you own this model and have tried and confirmed this, that would be great for others to know and I can pin your comment. Thanks!

      @@ItsBinhRepaired Oh, okay, I thought it was yours from seeing you handle the battery to show the stuff underneath, I would never handle such thing in mine with that confidence, I'm afraid I might turn it into a ticking time bomb 😅
      Unfortunately my girlfriend has the SF314-51, from what I've seen around the internet the 2 SSD slots look and location are identical, I will be opening it soon but I can't be sure the interface would be the same for the SF314-52 too. Especially because I've heard that even between the same models sometimes the interfaces are different. But I will tell here my results anyways pointing out that it's a different model. Would you happen to know it there's a chance of that second slot being disabled by the manufacturer?

    • @HitCoder
      @HitCoder 3 года назад

      @@AlexandreG hey, sorry to bother you; did you ever find out about the second SSD slot? I'm considering upgrading my laptop and I'm curious about this and don't want to buy an SSD that is incompatible 😅

    • @AlexandreG
      @AlexandreG 3 года назад +1

      @@HitCoder yes, there is a slot, but I've heard some dont have one. And from what I searched I suppose you can't see the connection from the outside. You're gonna have to disconnect the battery, then disconnect the SSD from the main slot and see if it's NVMe. If it's NVMe try to put in the second slot, if it doesn't go in it's because it's a M.2 SATA slot. You can be confident doing this without worrying to damage your SSD by experimenting that. The only way you could damage it is the normal way people damage their SSD, by dragging their fingers across the components in the SSD PCB and damaging one of them, but that is very easy to prevent if you are a careful person

  • @petercathain3326
    @petercathain3326 3 года назад +1

    There is some good information in this video, but I think you could have focused more on the charging port repair, which is a common problem with these Acer Swift 3s. I feel like this repair is a bit complicated, and the viewer could benefit from some more detail. Like, for example, why are you spraying hot glue everywhere? Are you sure that's really the best solution, as opposed to simply installing a new port. Anyway, thanks for the video.

    • @ItsBinhRepaired
      @ItsBinhRepaired  3 года назад

      You can do what you want. Every repair situation is different. If your charge port is broken, hot glue won't fix it. The hot glue was used because the support that holds it in place broke. A new charge port won't fix the broken plastic that holds it in place.
