Fantastic video, your really good at this, I love your enthusiasm, its contagious! thankyou for the shoutout, Im so proud to play a very small part in Ultima history.
Hi Damian, and great to hear you are enjoying my first build foray for RUclips. Happy yo give the shout out, your work is superb and maybe once the project is finished we can link up for a killer shoot? Cheers Nigel
Thank you, seriously appreciate the positive feedback. It takes me as long to make the episodes as it does to build the car. However, I find the process very therapeutic since sharing excitement and passion is very rewarding.
Hi John, I'm living my dream and it's great to see it comes through on the series. As I have previously shared if I won the lottery building an Ultima would be the first thing I would do. However, I have been fortunate enough to release the funds to live my dream :-). Great to have so many people leaving comments. Cheers Nigel
Tidiness is godliness I'm OCD on everything has a place!!..love the garage( mancave )!!..just subbed look forward to watching your build..epic garage just a great space!!
Hi, and as you say a tidy work place brings calm and logic to a creative activity. Having said that behind the camera can often look rather different, especially if my creative director has decided to empty his toy box :-)
Thank you Synon, it is my escape from reality and if you are interested in how I created the Dean Den there is a four part article on my website www.v8creative.com which explains the process. It was published a few years back when I created the Dean Den. I notice you are on episode 2 so lots more content for your to watch since I'm about to post part 27. Cheers Nigel
Thanks for showing us your interesting build, the Ultima looks spectacular and I imagine it'll be the same to drive. It looks the perfect tool to goto Le Mans and the odd Track Day. You had me fooled with your seating area. I had you sitting in a stately home but in fact your man cave. I so think space to build is a big factor, especially if you're having to take the bodywork on and off. Looking forward to your build so have subscribed.
Hi Mark, just come in from the Dean Den for a cuppa and saw your message. Yep, I love my virtual study 😀. Building one of these machines is amazing and sitting behind the steering wheel is nothing like any other car I have driven - and that's before starting the engine. Keep tuned I get my hands dirty soon with the build. Cheers Nigel
HaHa, now that made me smile. I have to be very disciplined to make the Dean Den look as it does. Those steel cabinets are amazing, just shove stuff in and close the door. When they get full its time for a trip to the dump :-). Cheers Nigel
Great intro videos. As a car enthusiast and engineer I’m really looking forward to seeing your progress. I love the idea of building something like this. Maybe one day once I retire…
@@v8creative The main problem is lack of space. I’ve only got a single garage, which is nicely kitted out with tool chests, and bench, pillar drill, bench grinder, bench sander etc. Its a great workshop, but unfortunately that doesn’t leave any space for a car, never mind a chassis plus all the boxes and body panels. 🙁 My poor Lotus has to live outside.
@@PNDale Sorry to hear about your Lotus living in the elements. As regards space, boxes and panels can be stored in spare bedrooms etc, but you do not space for the chassis which is car sized. Euro millions look a good bet next Friday, maybe worth a punt and you could get a double garage
@@v8creative I think it’d need something like a lottery win for me to change house now. I’m in that ‘annoying’ (or lucky) position where my house is perfect for me apart from the lack of double garage. I simply couldn’t justify moving unless it was a significant change of circumstances - i.e. a lottery win! (Or if I somehow ended up single, in which case I’d try and find a massive double garage with a bedroom and kitchen on the side. That’d do nicely😂)
That area in your garage that you sit in 😂😂 That’s great 👍 nice set up there- nice to just focus on the build - as a builder myself please concentrate on the “build” Personally I find alot of people try to involve themselves and their opinion etc etc- You seem a great honest guy and I get you and what you can build - so get deep into the build - That’s my own personally preference- I know you have to try to reach to all peoples requirements- I just find the best channels are those that just get on with the video title - Looking forward to the progress ❤️
Thanks for the comment, and yes I am trying to appeal to a broad range of viewers which is always a challenge. The first 3 videos are sharing the process for those viewers who have never built a car before. From part 4 onwards I will be deep dive into the build in detail. I have devised a format which will allow those new to the concept of car building to engage with my enthusiasm and understand it is within their capabilities. For more experienced viewers, such as yourself, there will be hints, tips and how to overcome issues. I'm currently in the Dean Den filming part 4. Glad you liked my virtual study, my friends (and wife) think I'm mad but so much of life is serious and for me this is an escape - as I hope it is viewers. 😀
Having built a number of American classic muscle cars, I'm not sure I could have done any of them without at least a lathe, and preferably a milling machine. However, it's a ton of fun ("tonne" British spelling??) to fabricate specialty parts. Awesome build ("brilliant build" British spelling?) . Glad I stumbled into your channel! New subscriber.
Hi Johnnie and thanks for the comment. You are indeed correct, fabrication is inspiring and many of my previous builds were basically one-offs with so many mods I can't recall them all. My Dad had a lathe and milling machine, so fabrication was in my heart from an early age. This build is a little different, since fabrication often puts people off trying to build a component car. So this build is by the book. Thanks for tuning in. Cheers Nigel and Rufus
Another great video Nige. In addition to the mechanical tools, are there any electrical tools that you may need for the wiring? Thinking of a DVM, soldering iron, or wire strippers etc...
Hi Pete, mostly plug and play I believe. Yet to open the loom box but as far as I can remember plugs where fitted to all tails. Also since I'm sourcing all electrical components from the factory, all terminations will be compatible. However, fully equipped with soldering iron, strippers, cutters, heat shrink from previous builds so prepared if needed. Cheers Nigel
Love the video ! Subscribed and keeping up with each one put out! Had a question on ordering the ultima if you don’t mind. How long was it from the actual order date, until parts started arriving? (Or receiving email on parts being ready for deliver at least) thank you!
Hi Dylan. I placed my order on my 55th birthday and had to wait 6 months until the delivery of pack A (enough to get the car to a rolling chassis). Part 3 of the series (next week) will share the big delivery day. Waiting times vary depending on demand, but COVID has delayed things a little. However, once you leave a deposit you get access to the build portal which is a great read while you are waiting. Cheers Nigel
Well done, however, why did you not have the factory fit the body on the chassis ? Seems many favor and suggest this option, curious regarding you thoughts on bypassing this critical step. Garage is very nice !
Hi John, and a very good question. For international builders it makes total sense to have the factory fit the body to the chassis since due to shipping cost these customers take everything in one go. UK customers (like me) have more flexibility since delivery by the factory is very affordable and storing the body panels for months would be tricky for me (especially in my YouTub
Hi Evie, and a very good question. To meet emissions Ultima exhaust systems are fitted with high flow catalytic converters as standard. The exhausts systems are matched to the customers choice of Chevrolet power plant: LS3, LS7, LT1, LT4 or LT5. Appreciate you following the build. Cheers Nigel
Hi Jake, well a GT40 recreation is on my wish list ;-). However, many of the techniques I use are transferrable to a GT40 build, but watch this space - maybe one day. Cheers Nigel
Hi Jay, and a very good question and a complex topic. Ultima export to many international markets but as you are probably aware regulation differs per territory. Rather than give an answer that is not 100% correct I suggest you contact the factory and explain where you would like to register the car and they will be able to give you advice.
Haha, good question and potentially a controversial answer depending on what side of the fence you sit. My take is Lewis drives like a surgeon and Max drives like a gladiator. I 100% respect Lewis, but my heart tells me the sport needs more gladiators and as such I'm now a Max fan. Cheers Nigel
Haha, cheers. I'm Dutch, so it's obvious on which side of the fence I'm at. But beside that, I think Max gave F1 a massive boost. Just imagine how the last few season would have been without him. Lewis is an absolute legend and thankfully he has met his match. Good luck with the build. I subscribed to your channel, and will follow it with great interest.
Hi Jerry, sorry for the onslaught of adds. For full visibility I tick the box for the minimum number of adds and to date I have just about covered the cost of my camera gear after a year and 1.2 million views. I hope you stick with the series since I do this to share a journey and try to cover my costs. Appreciate the support. Cheers Nigel

love this tutorial! now ultima rs would me my next car
Great to hear and thank you
The quality of these videos are just soooo good they are like ASMR to me can't wait for video of you building the car
Thank you, and you will see when I cover building the RS I am driven by attention to detail. My pseudonym is Detail Dean, a double edged sword ;-)
Just researched what ASMR means and I am blown away. If this is what I am doing it’s not intentional, but just how I communicate.
Definitely agree with your thoughts.
Best Christmas Present EVER 😊
Such a good feeling to have a Mission to keep your mind busy 👍👍
Great minds think alike :-)
This is fantastic content, it's so well produced that I keep thinking it's an ad for Ultima

Very cool. I m waiting for the building.
Hi Alex, it's coming soon - I promise
More like this please and thankyou!! 👍
More on the way don't worry. Episode 3 next Friday. Cheers Nigel
