The only thing I would change is Carl's death just not happening. It was so bad fans were sending death threats to Scott gimple. That's how important Carl was to the story.

That way we have the time to mourn Abraham between seasons 6 and 7 and we would still get shocked after seeing Glenn also dying in S07E01. - E02: A mix of "The Well" and "The Cell" - E03: "Service", but the episode ends with Carl sneaking into a Savior's truck - E04: A mix of "Go Getters" and "Sing Me A Song". In this episode it would be set up I would also remove the entire Scavenger storyline. - E05: Hearts Still Beating, but alter the Rosita, Eugene and the bullet plot. It doesn't make any sense for Rosita to ask Eugene for only one bullet and for Rosita to miss Negan from such a close distance. I'd also have Arat not shoot Olivia. - E06: Jesus introduces the group to Ezekiel like in "Rock in the Road". - E07: "Bury Me Here", Benjamin gets killed by Jared. 'Clear Morgan' returns and kills Richard. Benjamin's death will be the reason Ezekiel is willing to fight the Saviors. Also, Sasha tries to enter The Sanctuary to kill Negan but gets captured. - E08: "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life", but omit Negan almost killing Carl since it's out of character for him. I would also have Sasha take Holly's death like in the comics. Maybe Sasha gets killed by Simon against Negan's wishes, beginning some conflict between them. Zombie Sasha is then offered back to Alexandria with a bag over her head. After she bites Olivia, Negan launches his attack. - E09: "Mercy". Having seen the innocent people under Negan's reign of terror at the Sanctuary, Carl tries to propose a peaceful solution. Rick is having none of it however. This mindset change will also be the reason why Carl is so keen on helping Siddiq - E10: "Some Guy", but also showing us some battles of "The Damned" and "Monsters". Also, no Morales! - E11: Gabriel and Negan sneak out of the trailer. The Saviors manage to divert the walkers and clear a path thanks to an idea of Eugene. I would scrap the truck plot. I never liked the idea of Daryl recklessly crashing the truck into the Sanctuary. Especially since it was beacuse of his recklessness that Glenn got Lucilled. - E12: "How It's Gotta Be", but with Carl not dying obviously. Instead, Carl would fall into a coma after getting knocked down by a grenade blast. - E13: The Alexandrians flee to Hilltop where Siddiq (who's ironically present because of Carl's actions) tells Rick Carl is still alive, but there's a small chance that he will ever wake up. This still gives us crazy Rick without Carl having to die. Rick radios Negan about Carl's status and tells him he's gonna kill him. Morgan sees Rick heading in the same direction as he was when Duane died, making Morgan slowly regain his sanity again. - E14: "Do Not Send Us Astray", but Negan leads the attack since Jadis doesn't exist. Morgan gets bitten like Tobin was in the show. Rick and Morgan hunt down Jared and the Saviors who fled. After seeing Rick kill every Savior, Morgan shows Rick his bite wound. - E15: Morgan dies this episode and convinces Rick to show mercy so Carl can awaken from his coma in a better world. Negan still kills Simon. Since the Scavengers have been omitted there have to be some other reasons for their conflict. Maybe Simon executes a few Hilltop prisoners after the battle? - E16: "Wrath". Rick spares Negan, because of Morgan's last words. When returning to Hilltop, he finds Carl has miracously awakened from his coma.
You still forgot the moment when Rick and Morgan were forced to kill the defectors of the Saviors when they fought off the herd, exactly here Morgan could get bitten.
Some of the worst writing in Season 8…I mean they had gold mine characters and actors…But the writing is pathetic…All the $$$ went to their heads and they got lazy and complacent

I would have liked if the following seasons actually had this New World that rick fought so hard for instead of just being a soft reset for the show. In the comic there's still a timeskip, but during that time they had set up patrols around the area, found new communities, expanded the ones they already had, and the saivours actually integrated into the system; it felt like they actually made efforts to build their micro-civilization into something more. In the show we only really saw a glimpse of that in Rick's S9 episodes, but then there was a way bigger timeskip and everything had basically gone back to how it was in season 6 before they found Jesus and The Hilltop

It’s so hard to talk about this because a lot of the changes people make are circumstantial. Does Carl stay alive? Does Rick, Maggie and even Michonne leave? I don’t have time to really go in-depth but here’s my general idea. I’m going to go into this as if Carl, Rick, and Maggie stay alive through the time skip (or just don’t leave the show) Season 7A: What Comes After and March to War remix. Season 7B: All Out War Part 1. My big thing here is Carl would stay alive. I think I would either replace this death with Morgan. While I don’t agree that someone needed to die in order for Rick to see he shouldn’t kill Negan (since that’s how it is in the books. If it has to be anyone Morgan makes way more sense than Carl. Season 8A: All Out War Part 2. I think cramming all of All Out War into a half season would be way to quick of pacing. Especially how many characters and remixes I think All Out War does need to be about 16 episodes. I’m just shifting it between 2 seasons Season 8B: A New World to the Pike kills. Here rick would obviously live so the time jump would still only be 2 years. The first half of the half season would be reconstruction. Giving us some downtime with the characters but include some political drama aspects (mainly keeping negan alive) and then introduce the Whisperers in the back half. And keep the remix of the Pike kills. Carl would probably break up with Enid during the time skip. Getting with Lydia when she’s introduced. This was a rambling mess but I think I get my point across
Man, if Carl had stayed alive, Andrew and Danai would have left anyway, Andrew's contract was ending and he wanted to spend time with his family in the UK, and Danai was interested in Marvel.
@@zeleeba8774 oh you’re probably right. But I think the big push, at least for Lincoln was Carl’s death. I think a cool remix would be to have Rick be the last Pike kill. I’m not going to lie I think I really think you should be a writer for the walking dead. They could really use a dude like you, the way how you think and put stuff together it so proficient.
Morgan WAS supposed to be the death that made Rick spare Negan no way anyone can change my mind. Gimple was worried about his job security and wanted to save his precious Morgan so he took the opportunity to pitch his version of fear and he gave Lennie James the option and he said you either stay on walking dead and die in season eight or a move over to Fear (this is stated as true in an interview) and Lennie James obviously chose the answer where he would keep his job I believe if lennie James stayed on walking dead and died and we still had Carl that Abraham would’ve been the crossover character and fear would’ve stayed in the original timeline showing Abe meeting Daniel and maybe everyone else (cause he’s from texas and proctor John was pushing towards texas)
They desperately needed a logical reason to keep Negan alive. Like needing a compromise to get Negan to surrender without forcing them to do a Really (storm the sanctuary?) bloody battle to finish the war.
@jerry’stake I think season 8 finale should of been the series finale. It was the conclusion of the OG Walking Dead series. Season 9-11 was a reboot spinoff
Great video mate, well spoken and great points made, I'd love to have seen a tighter season... Also and this might be weird but I like that you have a little less of a common accent than you always hear on RUclips.. dunno if that's from New York or something? I'm Australian so I have no idea haha I just finished season 8 and my god 7 and 8 draaaaagged. This was years after having given up on the show entirely in around season 5 or so, I thought I'd finally jump back in because it used to be my favourite show of all time during the first few, I've seen seasons 1 and 2 countless times haha. Season 2 espdiclsly I really love which I know is an unpopular opinion lol
It's still stupid to clean up scavengers, because they were needed for the introduction CRM. Why is this necessary? Andrew Lincoln would have left series anyway at the end of the contract and he still had to be picked up by CRM, but if CRM was removed, then the creators would have killed Rick in the arch of the Whisperers, not the arch of the Commonwealth. You still forgot the moment when Rick and Morgan were forced to kill the defectors of the Saviors when they fought off the herd, exactly here Morgan could get bitten.
They should have used “Wrath” as the conclusion to the series. (My opinion). Then had spin offs. The original show was too drawn out and got tiresome. Wrath was a spectacular high note when Rick ended the war and spared everyone.
Keep making videos like this please! Perhaps you could make another video on your selection for who should’ve died on the pikes.. personally I think Ezekiel and rosita could’ve both died there like the comics
Some guy being only a handful of episodes after Ezekiel’s introduction would be odd. You kind of need a full season of development before that moment. I prefer developing his character with Richard and Benjamin and Henry beforehand

If you wanted to could you make more videos like this? Like what would've the show been like after this and if you were to rewrite the rest of the show?
So let me get this straight. You want Morgan, the pacifist, the guy who preaches all life is precious. The man who is a walking example of how breaking the cycle of killing can heal all your trauma. The man who built the damn cell Negan is destined to occupy. You want that guy to be the inspiration for Rick to spare Negan? I just don’t see it.
You just proved my entire argument, for why I think he should be the voice of reason for that. I think you need to read what you said back and understand why I think it makes perfect sense.😂😂😂😂😂
@@jerrystakes That was quite difficult to say hahaha. Also I think your improved version of S7/S8 was great. I especially love that you kept Carl alive and instead sacrificed Morgan which made alot of sense.
I have to REALLY dosagree with the sentiment amongst a lot of fans that we didn't need a full season 7 and 8 being like this bcs we really did. Now the amount of episodes? God no. I think season 7 could have been told fairly easily in about 12 episodes. 8 doesn't feel like anywhere near enough to set up all of the new communitues, characters, motivations and Rick's change in attitudes. It also cheapens the whole, preparing for war thing to me. Now it was cheap in the show but they at least tried to make those 8 episodes worth it (and i quite liked a lot of them, aside from 12 bcs WTH WAS THAT). 3 episodes to prepare for a war against the biggest human group they've encountered? Yeah no. I'd say 6 is enough to have people going off on their own deciding enough is enough with Negan and others following Rick's orders and tryna convince the other communities to join them. Now season 8 I feel had every justification to be 16 episodes they just did almost nothing with those 16. Keeping Mercy the same to me feels like a big mistake just bcs to make this war arc worth it, we need to really understand from the get go what the plan is and where they are and what they're doing, whereas it's treated more like a mystery that we have to peace together as the action goes on which cheapens it. You're not watching the episode excited about what's happening next, you're watching bcs you're goddamn confused as to why they're herding a shit load of walkers.
Every week I watched season 8 and was disappointed with how the all out war arc was butchered by Scott and the team in like every way. Even the final negan part was so much more dull in the show it was like the walking dead’s first story wrapping up fully and putting us into a whole new arc but it just fell so flat sadly.
You can't just get rid of Swear and the trash people. They are not useless and pointless. Rewatch the show. They are literally needed to make S7 and 8 make sense.
Oceanside’s role in the comics was miniscule and the Garbage People didn’t exist at all, they definitely could’ve been reduced and/or ignored without anybody minding lol

My episode count would be:
Season 7 episodes: 1,4,7,8,9,13,15,16. A
Then B, season 8 episodes: 1,4,5,8,9,10,15,16
That’s my season 7
We love you Jerry
I love you too thank you so much!
Surprised you didn't make this months ago
They desperately needed a logical reason to keep Negan alive. Like needing a compromise to get Negan to surrender without forcing them to do a Really (storm the sanctuary?) bloody battle to finish the war.
Dan Reviews did a Season 7 & 8 rewrite on his channel and it’s so good
Nice!
I'm Australian so I have no idea haha
I just finished season 8 and my god 7 and 8 draaaaagged.
You should rank the season premieres and the mid season finales next.
Thanks for the great idea. Just put it on the Notion list!
@@jerrystakes Sorry I meant to put this on a video that just ranked the season finales. But yeah rank the season premieres, mid season finales, and the season finales.
ive always thought carls death wasnt soo bad as it did progress the plot it a mjor way but man my mind is changed morgan dying instead would have been soo much better, it wouldve really worked for his arc too unlike carl not really doing that much before that and just dying
I would definitely change what happened to Morales. He gets revealed as a Savior but he is taken hostage and meets Glenn's wife Maggie and sees Carol as this hardened woman. It bugs me they brought him back just to kill him off immediately and not even talk about him.
Also Dwight stays on the show and doesn't move to Fear the Walking Dead.
have 2 fights with negan the one when they attack alexanderia like in the original and they have a fight in the house and have the final fight but instead of them hugging around a tree do it like the comics where they actual fight
Should’ve ended in season 8 to be honest
Season 7 A could’ve Been better in my version Negan still kills Glenn but only Glenn Abraham gets his comic Death Theres way more scenes with Carl and Enid Rick and Arron would be out scavenging for the first half Season 7 B in my version Carl would set out on his mission Enid still goes to the Hilltop rick and Michonne look for Carl Daryl gets out with the help of Jesus Carl kills six of negans men and the scenes with negan and carl stay the same Rick and Negan would fight just like in the comics Rick and carl would have a scene talking about what he did More scenes in the sanctuary and there would be a scene with carl and Michonne fighting walkers just like in the comics the ending stays the same but it’s a Glenn and Maggie flashback the deleted family scene with rick Carl and Michonne Happens Sasha still dies but the war would happen earlier there would be cool moments like carl starting it Morgan killing Saviors Ezekiel and shiva helping out more kills and deaths Arat would die and the saviors would retreat the ending stays the same with the group preparing for war and an emotional talk with rick and Morgan
Season 8 A could’ve been better my version Carl stays alive morgan takes his place by dying but I would have him die by something else then a walker Morales would also stay around longer Shiva dies the same way season 8B rick deals with Morgan’s death Carl still wants to make peace the war happens the same Rick gets his leg broken by Negan Maggie Daryl and Jesus still want Negan dead Dwight stays at Hilltop Simon is dead gavin is dead
Season 9 A rick and carl are looking more like their comic counterparts Judith is still older the museum visit stays the same the bridge building stays the same Dwight is the leader of the Sanctuary carl what’s to be a blacksmith Maggie is still the leader the savior revolt storyline stays the same Daryl fights with that savior guy Arron loses his arm Carl and Enid are still together rick gets blown up Jadis saves him season 9B Carl and Michonne are running Alexandria Maggie is still around Jesus and Tara help out in the hilltop the whispers arc stays the same Lydia gets captured by the group Michonne brings Carl to the hilltop to be a blacksmith Carl and Enid are more of a focus Henry still goes to the hilltop the Henry and Lydia story stays the same Daryl and Carl become a duo Carl helps daryl find Henry the fair still happens the Pikes are Azzy Rodney Gage Ezekiel DJ Enid Marco tara Alden Jerry winter still comes
Season 10 A the Pikes take a toll on the people of Alexandria/Hilltop/Kingdom Lydia gets attacked by Brandon and someone else carl saves her Negan works in Alexandria carl lets him out Negan joins the whispers hilltop gets attacked Carl Daryl Maggie Henry and Lydia help out Siddiq has PDSD because of the Pikes Eugene and Rosita get close and start to fall for each other Aaron and Jesus also get close alpha dies Season 10 B beta finds out about alpha negan and Carl bond Michonne leaves carl takes care of Judith and RJ yumiko Eugene Jesus and Arron go out to find Stephanie that talked to Eugene the war still happens Daryl negan and carl fight the whispers and kill Beta
Season 11 A Reapers arc stays the same but Carl is with Negan and Maggie Jesus Arron Yumiko and Eugene go to the Commonwealth where they meet Mercer Maggie Daryl carl Negan Henry Lydia carol And others go to the Tunnels where they get more food Pamela Milton goes to Alexandria halloween still happens Daryl and Rosita and Carl become Commonwealth Guards Carl and Henry become Friends Siddiq takes care of his Child Carl teaches Judith and RJ how to hunt Daryl and Connie get together Kelly dies Vergil Dies Carl kills Sebastion Season 11 B Eugene and Rosita break up no fake Stephanie the kids get Kidnaped Rosita gets bit early and dies getting put down by Eugene Pamela and Daryl get along Negan still gets with Annie Maggie meets Elijah Mercer joins the group Maggie gets Hershel back Season 11 C the commonwealth people protest Pamela sends Guards after Carl Judith Gracie RJ Hershel becomes friends Mercer is not Stephanie’s brother Daryl Judith and Maggie help Carl Pamela still shoots Judith Carl Carries her to safety Elijah dies Pamela dies Lance also dies walkers get inside the gates of the Commonwealth the group fight the walkers Carl does a speech about his father Daryl Jesus Eugene Arron Judith RJ Maggie Henry Lydia Carol Mercer Stephanie Dante Oscar Ozzy Alek Gabriel And the people of the commonwealth all kill the walkers Rick and Michonne come back and blow up the rest of the herd maggie is the last Death rick Carl RJ Michonne Judith Reunite Mercer becomes the governor of the commonwealth Carol Henry and Lydia go back to the kingdom Eugene and Stephanie have a baby Arron and Jesus stay in a cabin and everyone else has a happy ending we even see a Scene with all the characters around a table enjoying their lives a credit scene happens showing a huge giant Timejump as we would see a cabin and a Lone survivor would walk out and it would be CARL GRIMES much older and have his hat ricks gun his jacket Daryl’s crossbow Michonnes sword Lucille and all the characters weapons THE END
This guy doesn't even remember the title of S7×1. C'mon dude💀
How about you try making a video with no script? I literally just missed placed when for where big whoop.
@jerrysfilmtalks Even if I was braindead, I could remember the title of 7×1
If you wanted to could you make more videos like this? Like what would've the show been like after this and if you were to rewrite the rest of the show?
That's a great idea! I will think about it and add some ideas like it to the list!
I would of added negan vs Jesus
I could of forgiven the bad action and stretched all out war storyline but killing Carl was unforgivable.
Nah see if it was Tobin it would make sense. That guy was closer to Rick than anyone.
Personally highly disagree with you. Seasons 7 and 8 are my favorite TWD seasons
So technically your S9 is your S8 and your S10 is your S9, then your S11 is your S10...
:)
You're not watching the episode excited about what's happening next, you're watching bcs you're goddamn confused as to why they're herding a shit load of walkers.
i would of loved walking dead from HBO instead, just follow comics dont make any changes
Every week I watched season 8 and was disappointed with how the all out war arc was butchered by Scott and the team in like every way. Even the final negan part was so much more dull in the show it was like the walking dead’s first story wrapping up fully and putting us into a whole new arc but it just fell so flat sadly.
It’s better than season 10 and 11
I liked it
Pretty much just followed the comic plot
You can't just get rid of Swear and the trash people. They are not useless and pointless. Rewatch the show. They are literally needed to make S7 and 8 make sense.
This argument makes no sense. They’ve serve no purpose weren’t even in the comics.
Oceanside’s role in the comics was miniscule and the Garbage People didn’t exist at all, they definitely could’ve been reduced and/or ignored without anybody minding lol
No they're not needed. Yes, the show used them to write Rick out the series, but that could happen in many other ways too
No they’re definitely useless
@@brianachim2670 No, they aren't💀
