What I love about Hasbro's BO (Blackout) is the more flexible blades, the blades are drooping down which looks nicer when it's on land and not spinning. I wish Weijiang could do that, stiff blades when not in use is just plain weird. Gonna buy Weijiang's BO still.
Credit where it's due to Wei Jiang, their upscaling does allow more screen accurate paintwork. Also the re-engineered parts make the alternate mode more cohesive.

This is truly a leader class Blackout! The regular studio series is small for a leader class. This one definitely scales well with the mpm movie Optimus and ROTF leader class Optimus. Now hopefully they’ll have an mpm movie 1 Megatron and hopefully they’ll make him bigger than mpm Optimus, which he is in the movie

Wei Jiang undoubtedly does a great job along with the black apple I already bought this, I am very happy! Since they hit the model, I hope in the future they make a version of grindor much bigger than the blackout! But I think BMB will release its version bigger than blackoult wei jiang ...
I don't get the hate of partsforming. Thank god you can remove that huge part on his back, that's what makes the figure so screen accurate. Without that option he wouldn't look as amazing as he is and let's face it people... After we're done having fun transforming the figure a couple of times, we display it and don't touch it anymore. At that point all I care about is an accurate representation of the character and if I need to remove a part of the figure to make it happen you can bet your butt I'm going to do it. This Blackout is awesome.

My speel with parts forming is that fact that the pieces part forming off have no real reason to do so. Like, half the time, I just think of it as “Oh you couldn’t figure what to actually do with that piece so you just took it off. That’s... unimpressive.” I have no issue with parts forming if it’s mostly optional. I only really accept parts forming if it’s A. Optional and doesn’t affect anything as a result of being parts formed or B. If it’s use in fiction, like Omega Supreme or RiD 2001 Ultra Magnus.

As far as I know, there will be a diorama less version, that will be coming out later on, which will allow his backpack to fully close down on his back. Good thing I'm waiting for that one. I don't mind his underside because every single Transformers figure has this "issue"

Man I’ve sorta been a purist on only collecting either MPM figures or brand new third party molds that fit into the line, but with the release of Megatron and Jazz my Decepticons are looking a little light. So I’ve decided to pick up this guy, Wei Jiang’s Brawl, and TF Dream Factory’s Starscream and Bonecrusher, they all look phenomenal with the MPM figures and I’m sure would look outstanding with the MPM Megatron on my shelf
I really love this figure. I loved the has/tak version too. But where Has/tak failed Wei-jiang wins. Articulated hands, closing the bottom that revealed all of that robot junk was genius, having the top detach was also above reproach. Parts formers in my opinion isnt bad at all. It a way of getting rid of ugly back kibble. And the back kibble on the Has/Tak was a definite minus and an eye sore. I love how WJ modified the feet the fuel canisters and wheels. He's an awesome size. WJ will probably do a repaint for Grindor later down the line. In terms of scale he fits better with the Has/tak mpm prime to me. WJ has again taken an original design and made it not only bigger, but also better. Those paint apps. WOW. Parts former or not WJ certainly got it together.
Chinese seller of the Official Hasbro one did a runner on me. Just got the refund, now I'm going to buy the WeiJiang version. Think I dodged a bullet there - this is so much better
I could be wrong, but as far as I remember in 2007 movie Blackout fire blasting wave from his hand and I don't see gun or else on his hand here. So the weaponry he have so far just the rotor blade. Nice figure and review, funny that I can wait patiently for the figure but always check Ben channel for review.

@@thexplodenator3007 I think the Official sizes are 28 Optimus, 35 Megatron, 31 Starscream, 55 Grindor, 33 Blackout. Keep in mind these are the sizes from the first and second movies, Megatron shrinks down to 30 feet in Age of Extinction and Last Knight
Blackout is stated to be 33/33.5 feet tall. But the thing is that that's wrong. Blackout should be the same height as Grindor in order to match with his vehicle mode size. Moreover, screenwriters said that Blackout was the tallest Decepticon in the first movie so it doesn't make sense that Megatron is taller. They messed things up just like they've done in all Bayverse movies. As a side note, Grindor was never meant to exist, Dreamworks (I think it was Dreamworks) said that "Grindor" was supposed to be resurrected Blackout coming back and that that's why there's no character named "Grindor" in the end credits, and even in the video games there are more evidence that Grindor was actually supposed to be Blackout (in the files, the character's name appears as Blackout). If I remember correctly all this had something to do with the release of the figure (which ended up being called "Grindor" and made the movie and video games character have its name changed to Grindor as well) when Transformers ROTF came out.

He scales with mpm 04 optimus prime, but not with bee and barri. I think bee and barri scales perfectly with BMB optimus, so this blackout should be a little bit bigger. Just my opinnion.
Alvaro Ortiz Grindor is a lot bigger than Blackout. So the standard Studio Series figure probably works for Blackout. This should make a nice Grindor though! :)

Ben, did yours have a slightly weird smell when you opened it? Mine had a little condensation on it on the inside, I assume from being in the cold here while being shipped. It smelled kind of weird. I wiped everything down and it seems to be gone, but just found it weird.

If it improves the look and shelf presence and gets rid of unsightly kibble, then I'm ok with partsforming.
Blackout's kibble wasn't that bad, it adds up to his bulky presence

Partsforming also helps with a figure being less complicated and can result in a cleaner bot mode.
Partsforming has been part of Transformers since G1. Prime’s fists, the Seekers, almost every combiner, Micromaster bases, Ultra Magnus.....etc

It's way too big. Could maybe work as Grindor though since he was bigger than Blackout.
