This is probably the perfect shockwave toy by far.
In Dark of The Moon shockwave was 40ft tall Megatron was 35ft tall which is surprising but makes sense given his bio said he was the only Decepticon that could rival 07 Megatron and actually defeat him in combat
Great review, good to see they are shipping the second batch now, will wait for one or two months before ordering to make sure they send me from the second batch and not a leftover from the first one.
Damn you got the 2nd batch version, looks more vibrant, stronger ratchet arm and the hip ratchets look reinforced stronger . Than the 1st run which broke for almost everyone...now I’m tempted to grab one.

Where can I find the second version
According to internet pictures, the first batch which had lots of breakage had much more weathering (the silver dry brushing) compared to the second. This is a tad too big for me. I really hope TF Dream Factory is still around, I want their scale of DOTM Megatron.

Dream factory hasn't put out anything for a while now. The pics of their version of Shockwave were never mentioned or talked about again. It's been, I believed, 2-3 years now since the release of the prototype

never thought i would say this because i really like collecting g1 and some beast wars but this has to be the first film character that looks epic and it fits the alien look shockwave has. Blackout also looks good and the film blitzwing look should have been what starscream should have looked like oh well
First off, thank you for this vid, I was baffled on how to transform my 2.0 Shockwave, they didn’t give instructions. Second, geez, would it have killed Bay to have Shockwave actually transform just once? Ugh....
Shockwave is actually 39-40 ft so this scale better with MPM I think
How do you change the batteries
My only complaint is the cannon arm ratchets should have been stronger. Also i think the hip issue was do to shipping from getting slammed around. I have 1 of the first released and i have 0 issues

You've got the 2.0 version Ben.
You can tell by the paint being far more vibrant than the original and at 8:32 when you pop the legs down, you can see the big silver ring inside where the hips screw on. It's a reinforced piece now as tne originals had a short screw (it was too short not too long) and the ratchets literally shattered the plastic around it.
I've got a 1.0 version myself and it's holding well, susch a beastly loooking figure.

In case you don't know Mr. Ben the back jet engines also known as thrusters they are on ball joints if you pop them out you will see that they as well LED lights all 3 of them

One of the very few Bay-verse designed heads/faces Ive always thought looked absolutely amazing. I know its seems impossible to screw up something like shockwaves face but were talking Michael bay.

The issue with the legs isn't even just the screw. The hips just weren't made to stay together. You can get this guy broken out of the box or even after a different loose screw. BMB just can't get the QC together.
has many floors such a shame real nice figure 10 out of 10 but joints zero out of 10. the arm just came off on mine. i'm going to have to drill it or glue it. i'm very careful i have many takara MP figures and no issues. the plastic/ joints just cannot hold and

I think the 1. Version looks a little bit better, with more weathering and less purple paint, but this is very good too. Bmb megatrons and optimus looks too big to him, maybe with mpm and tf dream factory megatron scales him better.
8:40 I noticed a crack in the figures right hip joint right in the middle.

This shockwave looks more Megatron than Bayverse Megatron. That massive arm cannon and the tank mode just screams Megatron.

Did yours have its risk of a broken leg? Im really tempted to purchase this considering i loved DOTMs shockwave look but constantly heard about people getting a broken leg pretty commonly
Godzilla_With_A_Microwave I did preorder it originally so I did get the first run of it and yes mine had the weak hip joints and one leg did break on me, however ShowZ sent me replacement joints and now everything is good. If you buy him now though yours should come with the new joints already installed. It was only the first batch that had issues. The sent out the second batch with the replacement parts already on it.

Mine got damage at the spread joint near the hip joint, it ratchets at first then there was no sound at all, when i dive in to the parts turns out the insides are broken, the pillar shattered, and that's a brand new fresh out of the box

I'm gonna take the risk and get him but I will be VERY careful with him he will probably remain mostly for display just to be safe but I do at least want to take off some of that plating at the bottom of the bicep with a rotary tool to give the elbow on the cannon arm more articulation for posing and I think I will use a stand to help support his Cannon so the arm can stay up and it helps support him as well. I have to get him he will look so good with my new age mista soundwave and black mamba bs02s skybreaker tlk megatron I'm hoping to also add a metal deformation ROTF tattooed mpm starscream and a black mamba ls02 bottleneck mpm ko barricade.

If he didn't have so many QC issues then I would buy this immediately. Im currently happy with my DNA upgraded shockwave for now.
Pre-earth beast wars megatron
As gorgeous as this toy is, I don't like it because the engineering sucks. Kudos to these guys for working on this figure but how Hasbro/Takara engineered the transformation really irks me. Since this was supposed to be a leader class figure, I feel that the complexity does not match the class it's supposed to be in, the original leader class feels like an oversized deluxe, even more dumbed down from the voyager RotF Megatron it's based from. The transformation just feels incomplete, that there should have been more steps and parts to complete the look and feel of a leader class toy. Case in point; the way they just left the head sticking out is just lazy, Shockwave didn't need to have the same gimmick as Megatron's visible head while on his alt mode. There's obviously space in the chest cavity and they could've added parts they can use to hide the head better without breaking the aesthetics of the figure. Second the final placement of the arms and cannon when transformed just drives me crazy; the DOTM voyager 2011 toy, as dumb as it was inaccurate was able to place the cannon center and hide the hand parts of the robot better. The legs as well are, just legs on the side of a tank, it does nothing during transformation to even try to make an effort into looking more like tank parts. And just to drive the idea home; the alt form looks just like an incoherent afterthought; there's no panel on it that at least flips out to hide robot parts during transformation nor does the actual transformation itself lend to the idea that he really "transforms" into a tank but instead it feels like he can't think of a proper alt mode and just explodes and lies face down and pretends to be a tank. Hopefully if Hasbro/Takara decides to make a masterpiece version, not to even remotely have any similarity to this at all. To everyone drooling at this figure, I've got no problems because this is a really good looking toy, but the engineering really breaks the deal for me.
Tl:dr Great looking toy but I don't like it because the engineering felt incomplete, Hasbro could've done something better.
Awesome, Masive figure. Want it. But I think he should be taller than Megatron. In the final scene of the DOTM game, you can see he's considerably taller and he towers over Optimus.

Got this guy from SirToys. Unfortunately it got very damaged while shipping. A massive hole through the center of the box and his hip was broken in 2 places. I had to rebuild the entire joint.
It’s the first time I’ve ever had an issue receiving an item from SirToys.
All things considered I LOVE this figure.

question can you remove and switch the cannon to it's left arm like his g1 version?
I trimmed the inner (& outer?) bicep armour back a bit still keeping the geometric edging, so that he now has far better elbow articulation on both arms, very simple mod.
In general, the Hip joints should've been diecast, and maybe even be more of a refined friction joint rather than being that little of a delicate, yet prone to breaking, plastic

The copy I have is floppy as hell in every joint except elbows. It won’t even stand under its own weight.

This guy will definitely scale well with mb-11 optimus prime which is kinda masterpiece scaled

Myskirion Prime this came from China and even so the virus doesn’t last on surfaces ... we actually have it a lot worse here in the UK than in HK , I’m more likely to catch it from the post office than from the store that ships it

What kind of batteries does it need?
Beware of ordering larger/heavier products from tf-direct.com. Back in April, I ordered an in-stock Aoyi Mech LS-13 Optimus and they won't ship it yet (added freight charge). It's strange because at that same time I ordered the Unique Toys UT R-03 Megatron, and that was shipped with no problems even though it's also quite large. I've been a happy customer for years (VIP member status), but I'm still trying to get a refund or store credit.
cadsux things are back to normal now bud , loads of my stuff was held for ages as it was over 2kg but things are now on the move ... it was just tfdirect it was pretty much all Chinese retailers who use ems
