Sound on! Land Rover's SVX department developed a hardcore offroad version of the Defender. The new name Land Rover Defender Octa has been launched already and I have taken a new spy video of this Twin-Turbo V8 powered prototype during some hot tests on the Nürburgring.
Usually you would expect such a vehicle somewhere developed somewhere in the dirt and offroad, but not on a race track like the Nürburgring. The performance of this limited Defender top-version is incredible.

Looks 1000x better than the g63. Never understood the appeal of them tbh. I do love the 6x6, it's the only exception.
G63 is an icon, from design point of view, largely unchanged from the 80s, unlike the defender. Defender won't trump it but its a nice alternative.

I find that amazing how such a big off roader corners and drives like that.i think jlr should build one all purpose off roader and one all purpose on road only vehicle its a bit confusing. Its more on road than off id say although capable off road .no articulation any more hinders it.Theres also a huge window for jlr to make a pick truck why haven't they missing a huge trick here .

Not sure but its impressive, engine note is muted compared to the 5.0L supercharged!
@@ckaparos 5.0L supercharged has been muted since 2022 due to EU regulations now no more massive crackles like we used to get

Shame it cant be trusted in desert tundra, where we ran a dozen Landies with minimal support of a few REME bods and a hammer. Our boys can no longer be supplied with kit from JLR. Heritage forgotten. I've driven the ring hundreds of times. Last thing i need is one of these for that place. Sort of impressive, but Pointless and shows wrong direction of development.

The Octa is equipped with JLR's new 6D Dynamic Suspension. Comes with hydraulic interlinked dampers, height adjustable air springs and pitch control. The new setup sends up to 4000nm of force during hard cornering

I’m sure it’s great but the only way to get to see what it looks like is to buy one. It is being revealed to clients that have already placed a deposit.
The Defender is a great car but JLR have delusions of grandeur, it’s good but it’s not a Ferrari !!!!

What a Waste of Time and Money Making This Great Lump of a Car,Having Had a Defender 90 and also an Mx5 There is No Point Whatsoever in a So Called Performance SUV !!!
The Weight and Centre of Gravity is Everything in a Car Made to Go around Corners and a Landrovers is Far to High Hence the Weight Transfer Destroying All the Tyres.
I Have Seen the Defender 90 is Now at £120,000 With the V8 !!!!!! ,I Remember when they were £20,000 or Less and Build Quality Was Rubbish.,If You So Rich Go Buy a Standard 4x4 For offroad Fun and Some Sportscars for Having Fun on a Track.
