I use to think stealth strips were overpriced call duct tape. I bought some for my loan wolf sticks and stand. Now I’m a believer! That stuff is awesome!
@@matthewwebb2709 Yeah, it's definitely worth it, as I'm prone to clinking more metal the more careful that I try to be. I need it idiot proof and those things keep me from being that idiot
With even a single aider you could add another 3 or 4' to thag height and it won't really take you any longer. I hunt Michigan Public so I use 4 sticks and an aider. That gets me to 22-25' ... I typically don't have issues getting picked off.. but I definitely have with only 3 sticks. Amazing what 5'+ more feet can do for you to not get picked out. I'll have to time my system. But I would think that once i have my set up ready to climb I could do it in 5-7 minutes. It's just getting everything ready to start climbing take a few minutes as well.
Your setting your sticks with too much angle on your versa strap, that is why your second step is coming off the tree as you step up on it! Dangerous, it will lead to stick kick-out. Angle needs to be as close to 90degrees from stick as possible. Easier to do with other stick attachment methods, the reason I dont use daisy chains/versa straps.
I use daisy chains with no issues. If they don’t land perfectly on a loop I just run it around the tree a second time or I use it like a rope mod to get it tight to the tree.
Have you thought about putting your steps on the left side of your stand climbing up? It allows you to use that last step as a place to step if leaning around the tree to the 1-2 o’clock position.
Thanks. This my 3rd year with the cruzr and that was something I did (do to tree structure) and thought I’ll do it this way all the time. Lol. Works great! But then watching your video, that single step could be a game changer too! Good stuff y’all!
Nice. Sounded like a 200# Squirrel taking metal shop 101 going up that tree. 😉🤣 I understand it's for time and 5 minutes is quick, imo. One tip that I'm trying to get hang of is using the linesman rope with both hands stepping instead of hugging the tree and letting the rope fall on the tree below waist level. Like you see see lumberjacks do. I haven't quite got the "moves" down yet. I'll get it down with more reps. Hopefully your season is in full swing and you're notching tags.
New Subscriber. There's a new way to climb. It's fast, SAFE, easy, and even quiet. Just when you think you've seen it all. It's the S.M.A.R.T. one stix method. Just needs someone like you guys to give it some flavor. Help. Lol. Give it a look see would ya? Thanks
I’ve got a loan wolf assault, I’m going to use that this season. If I think that it can improve, I’m probably going to switch to a saddle. It just looks so much lighter and adaptable. I just didn’t have enough time or money to comfortably switch before the season. I want to give myself enough time to practice with it to be safe enough.
I’ve been a LW alpha guy for yrs and it’s my absolute go-to. I want the Assault climber. (Ordered one and they sent the same alpha I have🤦🏻♂️🙄) I started dabbling w the Tethrd saddle a couple yrs ago mostly for doubling up over top of my young son while he’s hunting…. As far as actually hunting out of it, I prefer my LW all day….Don’t underestimate how much practice is needed in order to feel comfortable maneuvering….(level bubble in sight becomes paramount) I set up w the LW the other day in pitch dark and was safely seated comfortably in the dark ready to Sling in 13min flat and didn’t make a peep getting in around 23-25ft up….(I believe height beats sight and nose) Good luck.
How light, compact, mobile and safe (if done correctly, I'm uncomfortable with heights but have no problem going 30'ish up a tree) the saddle is the reasons I got into it. I hunt only public land and got tired of dragging climbers through the brush and crab every time
Good stuff, 2-3 sticks + an aider + a single V step and most people are 15-18 feet in a tree. One thing I wish all these saddle companies would do is just pre-silence their gear. A simple rubber coating, paracord cobra wrap, hell just some comoform tape. All of us saddle hunters basically do this anyway so why doesn't a company just do it for us. This would be a nice innovation imo.
I’m still using the hand climber i keep trying to find a video to convince me that this is faster and I haven’t yet. I just have a hard time seeing how a saddle would be better for me. To each his own and I salute all saddle hunters and I want to be one so bad but just can’t see where it would Benefit my style and terrain with mostly pine trees. At the end of the day we all have the same goal. Thanks for sharing sir.
I can’t remember the exact not, maybe some type of hitch. But it has what’s called an a cinder on it I believe. It makes it where you can take slack out with one hand.
12 feet of height in the camel hump mountains we hunt won't cut it... the deer be looking down on you ...gotta go 25 feet plus ....quickest way is a lone 🐺 climbing stand.
Look at that Mathews!!
Bro, catch us if you can!
You were so excited, I thought this was a parody at first. Love the energy.
😂 😂 💪🏽💪🏽
So cool to meet yall Friday. Good luck this year guys.
You too bro!
Now do it quietly 😉

Yea I hear ya. You’ll be fine with the LW! Every little thing helps tho, so next year might be worth looking at a saddle! Good luck this SZN!
@@TheElementWild thanks man! I think the saddle will especially be good in ETX. I’m excited though. Drew my first tag for big lake bottom next week!
@@TheElementWild and hey if y’all ever need are in ETX and need a camera man just let me know! I’d be happy to help

Is that
Is that a modified wild edge step?
what type of sticks do you the squad use? do you all use the same? would love to see a video and some reviews!
Lots of different ones. Muddy Pro sticks are a solid option that we all like.
Good stuff!
What back pack are you using
Which size CRUZR did you get? Awesome how quick you got up there!
What size saddle do you have? Is it a size 2 or 3? Thanks in advance.
2.
How did you attach your platform to your pack so u can one hand detach it
That pack has a horizontal strap with a push buckle. Isn’t designed for that, but it works well.

Weight, and move ability.
Y’all gonna mess around and make me order a Cruzr XC!
Get it boi!
What’s the device you’re using in place of the ropeman/prusik? Haven’t seen that one before. Good video!

@@TheElementWild thanks! I didn’t know if it was a ropeman or a kong duck. I haven’t seen that ascender you’re using before.

I hate to be keyboard pro….BUT…. I think it’s best to hook up your tether before stepping onto your platform.
i hope we get a ricky bobby voice in this video that says " i wanna go fast" _ just pushed play fellas
Lololol
Wouldn't want to deal with all that gear, and you can't be quiet if your trying to go fast. But to each his own !
Is there more gear to deal with compared to other stand methods?
That is fast and a good job... But let's see it in the dark when it's 15 degrees...
Hard to see it in the dark…
They make these things called head lamps
Ok now grab some 50+ old guy with arthritic hips and see what kind of time they get then I'll feel better 🙂
Hahaha!!!! I’ll holler at my dad.
