      Philly Phreak!!!: I like the logic behind your proposal. Nobody should be outright banned, especially if said participant has never been popped for anything close to "P.E.D." usage. A hefty fine, and a specified amount of time where said participant can't fight. Which really means make money. If they're caught again, then they obviously didn't learn their lesson and would continue to "cheat" and should be banned. A step in the right direction at least. Have to have a dialogue to get it started.

      They don't want Teddy there because he argues alot with the fighters. A bit of an ego thing I think on his part, because he basically has to share the spotlight. TBH, they could just have him and Joe Tessitore like always but choose not to. I like Bradley and Ward, and they do a good job, but it's not the same. Plus I think they want to push agendas, and Teddy's not really with that. Bradley and Ward will go along a little bit, but Teddy's less likely to heap gushing praises on fighters he's not feeling. Kriegel and Tessitore do that really badly now, and Bradley and Ward try to temper it. Teddy would obliterate it, and they want to market / "hype" fighters not tell the truth.

      Im not Sure if Wilder is not on steroids as well. No mass, often wrong technique while throwing shuts, so how then he is generating all the Power?? Yeah i heard punchers are born not made but this guy has broken any normality even among legendary punchers, this is way too freaky if you ask me !!!

    • @lensperspective9753
      @lensperspective9753 4 года назад +4

      Parabase Parabase No, there is a reason when ya look at his build i get it, i dont know if i can fully explain it well tho, but i see it, but you are right sometimes they are weird akward punches that land, he has power, that being said, it could also be because his opponents dont have the strongest chins. Combined with born power puncher, a lot of it is his reach. Im a power puncher guy with long arms too, my left jabs are some peoples rights, but it comes at the cost of precision, kind of like a 45 ACP bullet inside a tommy gun, the power makes up for the precision. Who cares if you it the guys guard and miss his face when your punch that hit his guard hurts and is breaking with each one that connects, Wilder just 1, 2s, 1, 2s, and finishes with that 2. Mike Tyson was also a guy who could break through guards, though in quite different energetic fashion he would break through solid guards or chipping away, hitting every part of the body till the oyster shell split.

    Played with a kid whose father used to get him stimulants to play and train. He also got them a bronchial aspirator which at the time was legal. This kid had an average skill set but he had on unlimited endurance it was frightening how active he could remain no matter how long the competition continued. He actually had his first stroke at the age of 33. And then had his final stroke at the age of 39. It’s amazing how important a dumb game seems when you’re a young adult and you think you have no other options God it’s a shame that youth is wasted on the young we need to start listening to the older people around us. Athletics are given too much credit in our society a guy can hit a ball or fight is given more social acceptance that a man who one day might operate on you or your kid I am over 50 and it only starts making sense to me recently

      @Miles Davidson I hope the sanctioning bodies of boxing come together one day (sooner rather than later) and come to some type of agreement as to what should be the norm for testing in boxing and acknowledge the real everyday risks involved.

    • @johnathan5291
      @johnathan5291 5 лет назад +3

      @Miles Davidson Since USADA they test for EPO 30-40% of the time, but fighters never know. Just look at some videos of Floyd or Canelo weighing in. They have needle marks all over their body, in the middle of their abs and shit. In locations, that if you were using steroids, that is where you are supposed to inject. If Jarell Miller was caught in the UFC I think he would be banned for life, because of 3 failed tests (EPO, HGH, and something else). For the UFC champ that fail TJ, he got a 2 year suspension and they went back and retroactively tested some of his samples. Boxing can be cleaned up they just need a promoter who gives a shit about how the sport looks.

    Pro boxing is ruled by a bunch of unaccountable private businesses - there is no incentive for them to stop PED use apart from the welfare of the boxers - which is why none of them doing anything except window dressing and PR regarding real random drug testing.

      @@deadarmd It's not that amazing once you remember that it was his opponent who pushed for a stringent random testing regime. Much like Joshua insists upon. Boxers signed up to the WBC clean boxing program are not subject to random tests - so can cycle on and off. Indeed the vast majority of boxers signed up to it have never been tested. Even once.
      VADA are plainly honest brokers but boxing in the US should be under the authority of USADA - like most other sports - where random testing is the norm.

    • @deadarmd
      @deadarmd 5 лет назад

      @@sonlyme4445 no you misunderstood me. I didn't think Oscar and all that push canelo has would ever let him get caught. They let judges *obviously* fix scorecards for him. There's been 4 scorecards in canelo fights that are just plain unacceptable imo. Much like Mayweather who has 12 going back to Castillo. Boxing is corrupt bc unless there's a stoppage they have their star win. It's been that way since I can remember in certain weight classes. It's why guys like Tyson were so popular because even when he won close fights (Tucker, Rudduck) he obviously won them. Or he stopped the guy.
      I simply didn't think theyd ever let canelo get caught. You brought up Joshua and he talks a good game, but I won't put it past anyone, especially the HW white Knight of a boxing nation starved for a champ since the loss of Lewis.

    • @sonlyme4445
      @sonlyme4445 5 лет назад +2

      @@deadarmd My point is the current state of non random testing allows powerful promoters to 'protect' certain stars. A regime of random WADA protocol testing removes this ability. Hence positive results even for stars. The WBC clean boxer program isn't random and as such is open to abuse. The other sanctioning bodies don't even have an anti-drug protocol or process. That is where professional boxing is. In the gutter.

    I'm a physician and I've worked with athletes in the past. After a while, you can spot a testosterone, PED user from a mile away. I don't know what the rules are. But If a fighter has low testosterone leves, he may be able to get his medication prescribed to keep him at optimum levels legally. Not sure if that's how boxing rules are now, but I'd say the MAJORITY OF BOXERS ARE DIRTY. They don't need to look it, some do other don't. Remember when Margarito fought pacman, it took him 3 times to try to beat him and on the very last try, he came in looking like a heavily chemically enhanced version of him self with acne all over his back and had testosterone ozzing out his pores. I think Steroids and PED started making their way into boxing early on. Even pacman. Floyd mayweather spent so much time raging on how pacman was big, but when they fought, i can clearly see that Floyd was hitting that Growth Hormone when he took off. He was visbily bigger in density and muscular.

      @@bluemoonmcfcfans4754 he was spot on on Tyson too. The greatest when the intimidation bit was effective, not so much when facing a boxer who wasn't scared, took it on the chin and fought back. It's not by chance that he's never lost a decision but always got knocked out. He wasn't mentally strong enough to whether the storm and come back to win a fight, which is what Teddy has always pointed out.

    Used to dislike Ted. But he is usually right. I'm unhappy with many of his comments. Mainly, his did on Horn 's Pax. That was a close fight, could go any way. Obs, Pac was complacent. Now no-one is going to say Jeff Horn is in any way in the same league as Manny, but his attack on Horn was not cool, as most of the public comments on U-tube. But a lover of the game, Ted is.

It's a book on sports development and I know Teddy touched on fear in this podcast but I would love to hear how he goes about getting his fighters, especially the younger ones to cope with the fear inside. Keep up the great work and I look forward to hearing from you soon :-)

    I get that Ortiz had previously popped for an anabolic steroid and so maybe he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. But if you really look at the circumstances of the most recent infraction, it seems likely it was just a paperwork mistake. For one, he popped for hydrochlorothiazide (and its metabolite), which is an extremely commonly prescribed diuretic to treat high blood pressure (like $4 at walmart, common). Ortiz provided the prescription and the medication, which was in combination with losartan (another blood pressure medication, which provides no known athletic benefit). So if his intention was to cheat, why would he use a combination formulation? Secondly, diuretics are often used to cut weight which may give a fighter an unfair advantage at the scale. But Ortiz is a heavyweight, so that's just dumb to think he'd use it for that. Third, he's probably still taking hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) now with a medical waiver so if the commission actually thought he was cheating, would it continue letting him use this 'masking agent'? Probably not. Lastly, its not difficult to figure out why he didn't take the fight. He was probably promised a rematch with Wilder. Maybe for less money, but maybe he thinks he has a better shot at winning. Maybe because hes a fighter, he wants his loss back. Kownacki didn't take the Joshua fight either. Are you calling him a cheater as well? I'm a fan of the show, but it irritates me that this show (and others) didn't take the time to go a little deeper before providing very superficial speculation.
