    I kinda prefer the peekaboo style, because I'm an infighter.
    I don't enjoy outboxing like Muhammad Ali , I tried hopping and circling around the ring , it was really taxing on the body.
    The peekaboo style feels more grounded , but you also feel "springy" at the same time.
    The next thing I love about this style is the head movements, it's just what a fighter needs to master, how to avoid and slip punches.

      Facts

    • @TheMatrixofMeaning
      @TheMatrixofMeaning 9 месяцев назад +2

      A good fighter learns to master every style and gets into condition that you shouldn't get tired by anything you've mastered so long as your body has gotten used to the movement. If you can't bounce around the ring you aren't jumping rope, running, or shadow boxing enough and that means you will lose against anyone who does

    • @GodsLonelyMan__
      @GodsLonelyMan__ 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@TheMatrixofMeaningthis is really true, I used the classic 50/50 style the first two years of my boxing time, then I found myself more comfortable with that peekaboo/canelo style, that experience i got from those two years definitely helps with my boxing knowledge in how to counter these styles.

    The peekaboo is a very challenging style to learn. Harder then the traditional boxing style. Definitely a young man's style in my opinion. Watch out for a light heavyweight called Alvin Vermall jnr. Fights the peekaboo and trains out of catskill. He's move very much like Tyson and is undefeated.

    • @IskurBlast

      @I'll figure it out i think d'amato and rooney were the best trainers for him. I do think his style is a young mans style though. You have to be in supreme condition to fight like that. You always risk the possibility of burning out. Tyson would fight in spurts like sprints. If he were more laid back and simple like Larry Holmes he would have had more success as he got older. But then again he doesnt have the build for that. Peekaboo style is awesome but you need to be in great condition.

    Thank you coach. I've been practicing the peek a boo style throughout last year together with my outfighting style like mma or Muhammad ali's sting like a bee. And this month, it was the first time I've thoroughly used it, and I can really tell that it intimidated my opponent and surely blew him off due to how aggressive the punches a peek a boo style needed it to be. Every time punches comes right at me, a straight or hook always took turn with a slip throughout his face and body. Though I cannot tell that I mastered peek a boo style since jabs still touches my face usually when I slip, I'd like to thank you for this video and is an honor to me. Im excited to relearn and go back to the basics of this technique.

    It looks like your uke doesn't bend his knees when he slips left or right, putting his upper torso off-balance. Is their a strategic reason for this?

    • @MrRazmut
      @MrRazmut 5 лет назад

      I think there´s a reason. When trying out some slips in a squared up stance i noticed keeping my hips kind of rigid and leaning a bit i can regain posture a bit quicker after a slip, but when I´m more bladed i need to bend my legs to keep my balance on top of my hips. It might just be I have bad slipping technique but it feels a bit more natural to kind of lean while squared up instead of "folding up" to slip like when in a regular boxing stance.

    Peek a boo works well for some people but it isn't a 1 size fits all. It was perfect for tyson and Patterson,I couldn't imagine them having as much success with another style but especially Tyson. Patterson I think could be successful with a more technically conventional style though so either I think Floyd could make work but peek A boo served him well. A crouching style such as Frazier and marciano is effective as well, especially Rockys sideways crouch instead of a straight down forward crouch like Fraziers. It allowed him to come from that side with the right hand from an unorthodox angle but I couldn't imagine rocky or Frazier having the same success fighting any other was as well. Speaking of Tyson, Patterson and the rest in his stable though Cus had an eye for how to train specific fighters.

      armand bly Yeah. From a bladed stance you can use your knees to break at the waist. When you're squared up it's all lower back.

    Squared stance.... does that mean no difference between a jab and a cross? It's kind of what I see from the way he punched the bag. Just want to know for sure. Thanks

      There is a difference, the problem with the video is that they're doing it both wrong (Joey Hadley being too old to teach this probably forgot a lot of stuff, and the other guy is just an uncoordinated mess + inadequate teaching).
      I never see peek-a-boo fighters punch or move like this. Try checking out Master Boxing youtube channel for a better demonstration, their peek-a-boo material is fantastic, even just their free content.

      you cant see the legs, but squared up means your legs hips and body are pointing forward and you present your body's hitbox like a square. The usual boxing stance is angled diagonally where half the body is further from the oponent, giving smaller hitbox. But you still have a lead foot for both stances so jab and cross are still different.
      Theoretically for peekaboo's stance, you want it squared coz you want to slip, move forward and close the gap as much as possible to fight inside and do the d'amato shift. It's designed for a compact body, short limb fighters like tyson who fights taller people. You get outranged so you have to be aggresive and get in closer using the peekabo syle.
      This video however used peekabo without going inside, no aggression at all, which is why it looks very awkward coz he was outboxing instead of infighting. If you arent going inside it's better to use the normal stance.

    That PEEKABOO Hitting of the Angles Cus Style lol... slip outside of the opponent's shoulders, because that is where all the punches come from, you need to weave under the elbows as again, that is where the punches come from.. KEEP YOUR BACK STRAIGHT and BEND YOUR KNEES as you WEAVE side to side, don't lean forwards as you weave, because the opponent will put his weight on the back of your head and back to push and hold you down. Don't focus on your opponents head, as that is not the thing attacking you. Focus on the chest, when the chest Flexis, you Bob, duck... Cus would say. If you Lay in the middle, your head is a target, so Bob, duck... but don't just stay there, your supposed to be hitting, so straight away get to the sides, move left or right and get into that position where you can hit them and they can't hit you, from the side's they can't hit you, so hit them with everything you got, because they can't hurt you. From the side's you have a chance to put in three perfect punches, uppercut hook hook. After you hit, you don't want to just stand there, you need to immediately switch to the next position around the opponent or weave across to the opponents opposite side and hit again, keep the flow going, keep switching, Flanking the opponents sides where he has no defence or offence... you got to be smart, you got to be clever and not get hit, then your a fighter,,,, not getting hit is what the science of boxing is all about, confusing the enemy, taking him out his own comfort zone, making him slow... You got to learn to weather the storm with good head movement, your head is never where the opponent last seen it... Action is faster than reaction, so keep your head in constant motion, control the unpredictable storm coming at you... Footwork, it's all about the hip's lol, plus work off an upside down triangle chalked out on the floor would help you learn to flank the opponents sides, turning southpaw when moving in right side. Understanding how to easily and effortlessly close the distance down to getting to the sides, Stalking the opponent, pressure and smothering your opponents, making them cover up so you can take them unaware, moving very cleverly and effortless to the sides where you can hit them and they can't hit you... avoid, move in and bam bam bam... You need to keep a low centre of gravity, keep low to the ground so you can fire, hit upwards with great power and leverage.. plus from down there, you can see the punches coming. The lower you are, the less of a target you are. In this style, we don't travel straight down the middle of the pipe or in other words, Never Lay in the Middle... but instead instead only travel to the left or right outside angles where they can't hit us back. As they turn to face you, twist or spring.. keep outside of there shoulder, because that is where the power comes from. And when they prepare themselves to reset themselves to face you, hit them half way through there PREPARATION OF ATTACK.. halfway before completion to catch them by surprise. DON'T PULL STRAIGHT BACK, because the punches are still coming at you... if you lean backwards, you will get steamrolled, railroaded over... so instead move side to side, slipping, dipping, weaving punches and using TWIST's, SPRINGS's footwork to angle off/around to the sides of the opponents weak area's where you can hit him and he cannot hit you back. P.s,, Dip or Slip the straight punches coming at you, and weave under the hooks whilst trying to shoot forwards into that left or right outside angle,, flanking the opponents sides... DONT BE AFRAID TO GET TO THE SIDES !!!... There is only one destination you are to be heading in and that destination is OUTSIDE OF THE OPPONENTS SHOULDER and to make sure you STAY OUTSIDE of the opponents shoulder.. because as I may have stated above, the opponents shoulder is where his power comes from to hit you with... but if you are outside of his shoulder, then you are outside of his punching power, thus he has to reset his position to attack you. But as he is resetting his position to get you inside his power, inside his shoulder... you move again your own self, move again outside his shoulder and hit !!!. As stated above, Never Lay in the Middle.. because if you are on the centreline, then you are in the opponents firepower and will get your head taken off.. so the centre, the middle is a NO GO AREA, you never entre inside the centreline... thus again the only destination is Outside The Shoulder by going in a left or right direction after knocking on the front door with your Jab, flanking the opponents weak areas where you can hit them and they cannot hit you, that means GETTING TO THE SIDES !!!, after knocking on the front door with a Jab or a Jab and a follow up rear punch, doing something called MAKE THEM MISS, MAKE THEM PAY !!... what does that mean ? When you Jab, you want to move in behind that Jab... because your moving forwards to your destination... THE SIDES,,,, There is no pecking with the jab back and forth like normal boxers do, no retreating... No, instead when we leave for our destination, that point of getting to the sides where we can hit them and they cannot hit us... we have to press forwards, pressure forwards behind that jab as we knock on the front door,,, but when we follow that up with the right rear hook or straight punch to the head,,, we simultaneously slip left while moving diagonally forwards to the left side of the opponent and at the very same exact time GO THROUGH the opponent with your rear punch... Thus, should the opponent throw a punch at you as you throw that rear hand whilst moving in and getting to the left side,,,, as you left slip simultaneously as you hit... the opponent will miss you with his punch and get hit with your punch at the same time instead !.... Remember, Knock on the Front Door with your Jab, BUT ENTRE THROUGH THE SIDE DOORS !!!... there is nothing for you in the centre, so KEEP OUT !!!... Never Lay In The Middle !!!. This is the Enigma behind the science of Cus D'Amato... these are the fundamental principles behind the style of MIKE TYSON !!!. Kyle Sands :)

    You do know there's another guy that Cus trained beside Jose Torres and Floyd Patterson. I mean he's not worth mentioning cause' he's kind of a nobody in the heavyweight division, but just for the sake of it, I think his name is Dyke Myson, or Mike Byson or something like that I believe. I'm sure you never heard of him. He was a sweetheart in the ring, never wanted to hit you, that was his problem.

      secretdeath Orthodox stance is a right hand dominant stance. Lead hand is left, power is right. Unorthodox is more commonly called Southpaw. Lead hand is right, power is left.
