Every time someone talks about BDSP it gets more difficult to believe how badly they fumbled them. The shiny charm bug is probably super easy to fix but they just...didn't.
It’s weird because they put a TON of care and attention to the Elite 4 and Champion fights so it’s not even like the whole game was them half assing it
@@carucath97Honestly, the biggest pro is for shiny hunting because no shiny locks. And the biggest con is for Ribbon Masters who need this game for the Twinkling Star Ribbon.
It's not a bug actually. Because of the Poke Radar's ability to make the shiny odds 1/99, having the shiny charm would make that chance even higher, so they had to nuke it.

Hey just wanted to let you know that if you have a copy of BDSP that isn’t updated you can glitch your way to Flower Paradise and Shaymin will still be there. And Shiny Huntable too :) This doesn’t work for Darkrai though, unfortunately
I love it that Catherine calls her shiny Shaymin a "baby," "little angel," and "cute," but it has the *naughty* nature. That right there is no angel, Catherine. That thing is a little devil! 😂 Not that I blame you. It is adorable, but if the sandwiches start to go missing, you know who to confront. Just don't fall for the innocent smiles. 😊
As a kid, I thought that a Naughty Nature would mean your Pokémon would grow to hate the player overtime, so I never used a Pokémon I caught if it had one. A year later, I figured out it just raised Attack and lowered Special Defense.
I also shiny hunted Shaymin a bit ago, took a few months off of the hunt, came back and its cry got burnt into my head from hearing it so much. The instant I hear the "Pi pi pi pi pipu" I INSTANTLY know it's this small thing, but it was absolutrely worth it, it looks so good.

YEAH like there’s nothing wrong with getting shiny shaymin with Pokémon go but that’s not the same since it’s a guaranteed shiny. The surprise of finding a shiny is my favourite thing!

From what I've heard about it, though, a Platinum remake would've been the best for gen4 over remaking Diamond and Pearl.

I've been replaying firered recently getting it ready for safari week and i managed to get a shiny charmander in under 100 resets its been one of those shinies i've been wanting ever since playing through x and y for the first time, so I totally get the crazy feeling from this!
My first Pokemon that I ever intentionally shiny hunted was Infernape in Legends Arceus. Platinum was my first Pokemon game, so I thought it was fitting that I hunted for my first Starter Pokemon. After months of so many unsuccessful attempts I ended up finding an Alpha Snorlax, I finally got the Alpha Infernape on November 1st, 2023, almost two weeks before Scarlet and Violet came out.

Shiny Shaymin made me cry tears of joy! I decided to randomly hunt it in BDSP, and I genuinely didn't think I'd find it. I told myself I wouldn't hunt it for more than an hour, and I got it in less than 15 MINUTES! I was so happily shocked and now it's one of my favorite shinies of All Time! ❤

Ah, shiny shaymin. The coolest shiny hunt I've ever done. Did it early around release and got it only in a few encounters, only 26 which was absolutely CRAZY to me. Congrats on getting this beast!

I saw this when it came out but decided to give it a rewatch when I saw the youtube gaming shoutout on twitter. Congrats on both the shoutout and shiny!
That seems to be the reason they're shiny locking so many Pokemon lately, since you can see them in the overworld before battling them. Doesn't make sense in SwSh, bc there's no overworld Shinies, and they have been able to show if the Starters are shiny before choosing them in Pokemon HGSS, so they just chose not to do that.

I wonder if Gamefreak decided to make some of the Shinies in Gen 9 barely any different from the original Pokemon in an attempt to make finding them in the overworld feel surprising like encountering Shinies that don't shine until battling.

I've been watching your videos while shiny hunting myself, and I can definitely say it's a lot more rewarding when you encounter one in battle. The first shiny I went out of my way to get was a Vulpix in SWSH, and getting it at full odds while I was only doing set up was exhilarating. Safe to say I've found a fun new hobby.

you're right about some Shiny Pokémon have sentimental value to them! for example, i have my Shiny Gliscor named Ratty and i love her with all my heart! :] some time before November 29th, 2023, i asked my sister to trade me a Gligar ( her main is Scarlet and mine is Violet ). after evolving that Gligar, i used her for a while. on November 29th, 2023, i looked up what Shiny Gliscor looked like and loved it! so i got my regional Ditto and began using the Masuda Method. the next day, Ratty hatched after 33 eggs and she was my 33rd Shiny! :D Ratty has been in my team ever since, even being used in Competitive 🎉 i named her Ratty after a Gligar that i used in my first playthrough of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team :D
My second ever shiny in SV was rowlet back when the DLC wasn’t even announced yet. I was watching DBZ when Krillin died, a noble sacrifice for the minty boi.
Considering that Shaymin Hedgehog-form was my first official pokémon plushie ever obtained, I think they are very friend-shaped, and I approve of your choice in favorite mythical pokémon :)
OMG Shaymin is my favorite Pokemon too! back in 2011 my mom went to Universal Studios and won a Shaymin plushie and gave it to me as a gift and it's my favorite plushie that i own. i love it also because it's the Gratitude Pokemon and reminds me to be thankful for my life and those around me and for the Pokemon series for being there for me growing up
Congrats on getting Shaymin as a shiny. Like you said, that hunt can be brutal, but I'm glad you got it in the end. My first non-static shiny was a Pikachu in Leaf Green. Pikachu has always been my favorite. Growing up, my father served in the air force, so I was always moving from state to state. My mother decided to get me a plush Pikachu and a copy of Pokemon Red since I never had the chance to make any friends and she wanted to at least give me something to on those long trips. When she passed away, the one thing I had left from her is that plush and Pokemon Red. It was pretty hard, and I was feeling kinda down playing my Leaf Green. I just wanted to be alone. Sound off, lights off, just me with my thoughts playing a game, and with Pikachu's shiny being a slightly darker shade of yellow, I didn't know that I had just found my first ever shiny until I caught her. Naturally, that Pikachu has alot of sentimental value to me.
10:12 feel your pain on that one...had that happen to me on HG with a Shiny Paras in the Safari Zone, wasn't even hunting for shiny Pokémon it just showed up and ran after the first safari ball...still haunts to this day

Ahhh, Shaymin is my favourite little guy I could never get the nerve to shiny hunt it though, but am incredibly happy I've obtained it in Legends Arceus. Seeing you so happy made me also really happy. The animations for the lil guy are too cute.
I love this hunt personally. I've done it twice (once in DP, once in BDSP) and got the shiny so quickly, with my DP Shaymin being found in 271 encounters, and my BDSP Shaymin being found in 21 encounters. This hunt has never done me wrong.

I ended up stopping my hunts for a Registeel in BDSP. It would crash at random resets. After 4800+ resets I just felt like the crashes were my shiny being taken so I stopped. Congrats on getting a shiny Shaymin in that trainwreck of a game!

So, funny story related to this video. When Catherine was making it she needed some photos for the intro section, so asked Twitter for people to send pictures of them with their favorite Pokemon. I saw that, and posted a pic from S/V with me and my Jirachi, funnily enough from BDSP. Jirachi has some sentimental value for me cuz I got one when I first started out in the 20th anniversary event, but forgot to save and lost it until BDSP came out and offered me a chance to reunite with my baby. Admittedly, I never really cared too much for its shiny, but regardless, some random person saw me talking about Jirachi and offered to just randomly give me their own shiny one??? I guess maybe they were concerned it might've been hacked or something, I dunno. Regardless, I gladly accepted and, thanks indirectly to Catherine, I now have my own favorite pokemon's shiny :DDD

Congrats! I shiny hunted it since the encounter launched and took so many breaks and went back to it every now and then that it took me almost 2 years to get, and ended with 2364 encounters!

Shiny locking starters actually makes sense, since the starters are shown outside their balls before you get them

I've been watching your videos while shiny hunting myself, and I can definitely say it's a lot more rewarding when you encounter one in battle. The first shiny I went out of my way to get was a Vulpix in SWSH, and getting it at full odds while I was only doing set up was exhilarating. Safe to say I've found a fun new hobby.

you're right about some Shiny Pokémon have sentimental value to them! for example, i have my Shiny Gliscor named Ratty and i love her with all my heart! :]
some time before November 29th, 2023, i asked my sister to trade me a Gligar ( her main is Scarlet and mine is Violet ). after evolving that Gligar, i used her for a while. on November 29th, 2023, i looked up what Shiny Gliscor looked like and loved it! so i got my regional Ditto and began using the Masuda Method. the next day, Ratty hatched after 33 eggs and she was my 33rd Shiny! :D
Ratty has been in my team ever since, even being used in Competitive 🎉
i named her Ratty after a Gligar that i used in my first playthrough of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team :D
My second ever shiny in SV was rowlet back when the DLC wasn’t even announced yet. I was watching DBZ when Krillin died, a noble sacrifice for the minty boi.
Considering that Shaymin Hedgehog-form was my first official pokémon plushie ever obtained, I think they are very friend-shaped, and I approve of your choice in favorite mythical pokémon :)

OMG Shaymin is my favorite Pokemon too! back in 2011 my mom went to Universal Studios and won a Shaymin plushie and gave it to me as a gift and it's my favorite plushie that i own. i love it also because it's the Gratitude Pokemon and reminds me to be thankful for my life and those around me and for the Pokemon series for being there for me growing up

My first non-static shiny was a Pikachu in Leaf Green. Pikachu has always been my favorite. Growing up, my father served in the air force, so I was always moving from state to state. My mother decided to get me a plush Pikachu and a copy of Pokemon Red since I never had the chance to make any friends and she wanted to at least give me something to on those long trips. When she passed away, the one thing I had left from her is that plush and Pokemon Red. It was pretty hard, and I was feeling kinda down playing my Leaf Green. I just wanted to be alone. Sound off, lights off, just me with my thoughts playing a game, and with Pikachu's shiny being a slightly darker shade of yellow, I didn't know that I had just found my first ever shiny until I caught her. Naturally, that Pikachu has alot of sentimental value to me.
10:12 feel your pain on that one...had that happen to me on HG with a Shiny Paras in the Safari Zone, wasn't even hunting for shiny Pokémon it just showed up and ran after the first safari ball...still haunts to this day

I'm currently doing this hunt in Platinum and it's so cool! Such a beautiful, unique location to hunt this precious lil fella. It's a dream shiny for me too, and it's absolutely making the journey to Scarlet once I find it. Congrats on finding yours!

I could never get the nerve to shiny hunt it though, but am incredibly happy I've obtained it in Legends Arceus. Seeing you so happy made me also really happy. The animations for the lil guy are too cute.
I bought the masterwork research back in 2023 for jirachi and I'm just now starting the grind for my favorite.
I love this hunt personally. I've done it twice (once in DP, once in BDSP) and got the shiny so quickly, with my DP Shaymin being found in 271 encounters, and my BDSP Shaymin being found in 21 encounters. This hunt has never done me wrong.

I ended up stopping my hunts for a Registeel in BDSP. It would crash at random resets. After 4800+ resets I just felt like the crashes were my shiny being taken so I stopped. Congrats on getting a shiny Shaymin in that trainwreck of a game!

So, funny story related to this video. When Catherine was making it she needed some photos for the intro section, so asked Twitter for people to send pictures of them with their favorite Pokemon. I saw that, and posted a pic from S/V with me and my Jirachi, funnily enough from BDSP. Jirachi has some sentimental value for me cuz I got one when I first started out in the 20th anniversary event, but forgot to save and lost it until BDSP came out and offered me a chance to reunite with my baby. Admittedly, I never really cared too much for its shiny, but regardless, some random person saw me talking about Jirachi and offered to just randomly give me their own shiny one??? I guess maybe they were concerned it might've been hacked or something, I dunno. Regardless, I gladly accepted and, thanks indirectly to Catherine, I now have my own favorite pokemon's shiny :DDD

Congrats! I shiny hunted it since the encounter launched and took so many breaks and went back to it every now and then that it took me almost 2 years to get, and ended with 2364 encounters!
