I bought mine new in 2009 (when you could still walk into a Rolex AD and buy one off the shelf!), so it's the same reference as yours but with solid lugs and a slightly upgraded movement. I used to wear it a lot, but then I got a Tudor BB58 which has kicked the Rolex off my wrist for most of the last 5 years, something I wasn't quite expecting.
My main issue with this watch is that it wears much much smaller than a bezel-less 40mm. The dial feels like a 34 bc of the thick brushed bezel. The lack of a reflecting polished bezel doesnt scatter light outward, causing the eye to focus on the dial center and that makes the case size feel a lot smaller than a 40. To me it wears closer to a 37 or 38 and feels much smaller than a 40 like the new Air King or even the 39 E1.
Fits perfectly because you have a large wrist. Doesn’t work for slim wrists due to the inability to adjust the strap above the H link. This puts many people off the neo vintage watches even though they are far better in many respects (smaller numbers, rarer, and consequent value retention)
Easy to solve the small wrist problem on the 5 digit models just reverse the strap (H link part of the strap attaches to 12 o’clock). Clasp will be reversed but it solves the problem of the watch head sitting up from centre and is easily reversed if you sell the watch.
That is the perfect one watch collection! I love the black dial!
Agreed! 👍
Beautiful watch , I much prefer it to a GMT Master II. A relative bargain, such a sleeper.
Couldn’t agree more! 👍👊

Great story, thanks for sharing! Yes Tudor’s can definitely do that 👍👊
Nice update, thanks Ty! Has to be a keeper in the collection!
Thanks Kyle! Hope you’re well my friend! 🤜🤛
Excellent update! I do love that old school GMT hand 👌🏻
Thanks man! Congrats on your new GMT! 🎉
Love the the 5 digit hole case GMT’s!! Awesome!! Good to hear from you Brother!!👍👊
Thanks Pudge! Hope you’re well brother! 🙌🙏👊
So did you like the black or white more? Im leaning towards the black but its hard to decide.
I prefer the black dial for an everyday watch. The white dial is great as a collection piece. Good luck! 🙌👊

Yes, I can definitely see that! Well said 👍
Where is the serial engraved? 😮
@@ThisIsCyrus In between the lugs 👍
I bought this model (my first rolex) in 2017 when they were still selling under $3500. A near perfect gada watch.
