You’ve reviewed your Rolex Explorer II better than many watch youtubers did before you! Well done! I hope you are able to wear this watch in good health for a long, long time! 🍀
as a watch nerd whose never been to your page but stumbled across because of this video, i must say this was an awesome video! I agree with others that this is a better "watch" video then some "watch" channels lol so touche! Rolex has gotten this "rich bitch" view in recent years due to "influencers" so always love seeing others rocking their Rolex's for the purpose they were created......tools! Keep crushing it out there, love the video. cheers
Umm, this is my favorite video you've ever made. One of the best videos I've seen on RUclips in a long time. I had a whole thing written out but long story short, youre the man! Congratulation on what you've accomplished so far! The sky's the limit and you got us all here to follow you along the way!
Enjoyed this video. I have the same watch (Explorer II with the black dial) and I absolutely love it. Totally flies under the radar, but if you know, you know. Best of luck on the next one.
Great video! It's awesome to see - for a change - someone talking about a Rolex who actually uses it for it's intended purpose! I wanted a Submariner from the age of 14, so I worked my backside off after school, at weekends and through holidays and when I was 17 I walked into the store and bought one. That watch hardly ever left my wrist for almost 19 years. I wore it for everything from my adventures all around the globe, to city life (London), I wore it on my wedding day.... everything! The only times I took it off were at night, in the shower (waterproof watches don't like hot water!), or when I was shooting (I preferred to have nothing on my wrist so used a pocket watch). My watch and I parted rather painfully after almost 19 years. I can't replace it, but I'm looking at buying an Explorer for the next phase of my life. Good on you, and thanks again Just
First video I saw of yours, I totally relate to your passion for anything mechanical and percision made. As a full time military member I switched out my Solar G-Shock 3 months ago after 8 years of dependable wear for a Hamilton Khaki Auto that has scratched the itch for now until I can get my grail which is that exsact black dial Explorer ii. Great video, looking forward to exploring more of your content!
Watch guy here, absolutely loved the video. Extremely refreshing to see modern Rolex’s being worn and enjoyed as they should be, and not sitting in a safety deposit box and taken out only for an instagram post. Subscribed. Keep it up man.
Watching this, I realized I miss something that you are sharing with us about your enjoyment of your watch & your first year of being a Rolex owner. I felt this way about my old ex I. More is not more with watch collecting. You’ve communicated something here that is the reason we all are into watches. It’s special. You my friend are 100% a watch guy. Perhaps more than the people with large collections who view watches as assets or investments. Hold onto the feeling and impart it into others! Cheers, my friend.
the Rolex experience is pretty cool. part of buying one is the experience. i got a 40mm explorer last september and take it everywhere i explore. it's such a great item to build memories and nostalgia into. exploring watches! i was in the arctic on the ocean (for the summer solstice) too. congrats on your milestone and your purchase.
My watch is my favorite piece of EDC. I love the idea of a watch being a family heirloom and a personal memento and constant reminder of your experiences in life.
I’ve been obsessed with watches for so many years and I’ve been a fan of yours for about 8 years! I love seeing the two worlds come together! I love Rolex watches and omega watches more than anything else.
This is such a coincidence. I bought my first Rolex sub the other day celebrating some achievements and over coming some struggles. I love it bro! Congrats!!
Glad you really put the Rolex to work like they were originally intended. Fun to see a normal person talk about their watch rather than one of the watch channels I follow. I use steel G-shocks (B400 and B5000) for my day to day. Solar with Bluetooth and/or Atomic signal time sync is so convenient. I do love my mechanical watches and have two but ironically my most expensive watches are Quartz lol
@@robiulahmed The Pelagos is a nice watch, I just find Monday- Friday and most weekends I love the utility of my G-shocks. When I'm relaxing I'm more inclined to grab something else but not always.
Quality watches are addicting. Last year I somehow was able to get my hands on Rolex Deep Sea James Cameron Edition. It’s my go to watch but I have my AD looking for an Explorer 2 Polar and want to add an orange RubberB Band. Never thought I would ever be a multi Rolex guy but the more you dig in the more you appreciate the lifetime quality craftsmanship. The more you research the brand the more you hear about folks collecting and wearing these, and each watch has its own story. Keep up the great content and good luck on your next Rolex pursuit. Win The Day!
Great review. NEVER, EVER let this watch go. I recently sold mine and have regretted it every minute of the day. I can say with 100% confidence I'll be asking my AD to secure another one for me soon 😆 I never knew about the compass hack! Thanks for the info.
I bought a watch from AMZWATCH lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.
Congrats and good luck finding the next one! I am kind of in the same boat, not a watch guy but like them for what they are and not the flash. Maybe one day I will be in a position to get one also! 4 kiddos makes spending that kind of money on myself a little more difficult!
Love to see it man. Nice review and great reason to purchase as a career milestone. I saw you leaving the parking lot at my office last week, no question who’s driving that wrapped car with branding! Keep up the solid content brother.
Actually, all the white metal under the sapphire crystal is white Gold! 4 Hands, Rolex Crown at 12 o’clock, and the metal around each lume. It’s there to make sure they never rust, patina, or pit.
Congratulations sir! I’m from the Mississippi Gulf coast also. Bay St. Louis born and raised. Now I know who I can go see about getting my first Rolex!!
Hey Talon, congratulations on the Explorer II, I have one with a white face and love it as well. I enjoyed that MP5 video we did in CT in March of 2020. Glad to see you doing so well.
Rewarded myself also from long hours and hard work with a Rolex Daytona years ago. Wear it daily, swim trunks or wedding tuxedos, Wears, looks and works, flawlessly. Great explanation of the Rolex Heritage which is legendary.👍
I own the polar white dial version amongst other Rolex watches, and it’s without question the most truest tool watch they offer. Perfect for everyday wear and I feel that it wears scratches and dents really well because of the ethos of the watch. GMT and compass function is very practical.
Great story. This watch in the 40mm version was my first real “Luxury” watch and I wore it for the first 5 years no stop. Today 20 years after I still enjoy wearing it and today I got more than 10 watches but this one will always be the OG and because of your video I went and put it on my wrist for the day…..
Great video! Yours may actually be the first video I’ve seen that recognized the purpose of the GMT function on an Explorer (24 hour local time vs a second time zone). Another reason for the Mercedes hour hand is that it breaks up the lume into 3 smaller plots, which helps provide more stability for the luminous material.
Such a badass watch. Congrats man! You should try on a blue Tudor Pelagos. It also has a no nonsense all tool watch vibes. I wear the pelagos model M25600TB most days
I added this same watch to my collection a few months back (currently sitting at about 30). I've had several other Rolex in the past 3 years, but they didn't stick (dive watches). I was fortunate to get them at retail, so when they went on to new homes, they left some extra cash behind. I got the call on this one Exp II and I thought, why not. Try it for a few months and worst case scenario I get out of it at par. It has really won me over though. Try as I might, I'm just not a bracelet guy, so my Exp II has been on some different high quality rubber for the summer. A custom alligator strap arrived for it yesterday, so that might be the look going into the fall. I too appreciate the tool watch vibe. I do have a number of precious metal pieces in the collection, so I'm not averse to some bling, but I think the practical nature of the Exp II just works. I'm also really glad to have gone the black dial route. The gloss black dial is outstanding and I love the fact that it zigs when most other Exp II buyers want the "zag" (white dial). The GMT feature (yes, I know it is not technically created as a GMT) is the most useful complication for me, so I can definitely see it staying for the long haul.
I have 4 Rolexes. They are watches that are meant to be worn, because that are like little Sherman Tanks. My go to is my Polar Explorer II, for the following reasons: (1) Size is great for my 8-inch/20cm wrist, (2) relatively light, unlike my 43mm Sea Dweller, (3) GMT function is great, (4) all brushed, which means it doesn't show small scrathes, (5) looks great, as it's not got a typical Rolex look - I do like the white. Perfect for daily wear. As I often say, if I could only have two watches, it would be this for daily, and my beloved - but delicate - Royal Oak for fancy.
Great video! I have the exact same watch and same ethos as you regarding fancy vs. practical. I have traveled, hiked, swam, caught fish, hunted deer and everything in between with my Exp 2. It’s just a rock solid timepiece that is cool, without trying too hard. Great choice.
If you're looking at other nice watches I would recommend giving Omega a try. They are comparible in quality to Rolex without the ridiculous wait times. I think an Aqua Terra Worldtimer would be an excellent fit for someone who travels as much as you.
I am literally wearing my 16570 Explorer II with the back dial as I watch this. Like yours, it’s been everywhere with me, even gong on 22 years old now. This will go to your children, and beyond.

Great video! It is such an underrated watch. I have a number of Rolex’s,Tudors and Tags and this watch has become my daily! Think it’s a mix of the size, subtleness and that pop of orange!
Awesome. Nice watch! I have considered the Explorer 2. I have the Explorer 40mm and really like it. I just got the call that my Submariner is in! The sub is my grail watch so excited about it! Wouldn’t mind more watch content 👍
My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from amzwatch
Great looking watch love the Explorer II just a bit big for my wrist. January 2023 picked up my datejust for a key milestone as well. Wear it and enjoy it!!
Watch guy here, love to see ppl use a Rolex as a tool watch
Heck yeah me too !! I hate the “ what’s the best investment watch” question just buy what you like and use it is always my answer
An explorer is absolutely a tool watch…. If you’re afraid to wear it, probably can’t afford it. 💯
