I think an interesting budget video would be for you to take a few hundred dollars into a few stores such as bass pro, REI, sportsman’s warehouse, Scheels or any outdoor store and see what you can get for the same amount of money at each store. Kinda see which store you can get the best bag for your buck!
I think $500 budget with no specific store and trying to make it the most comfortable camping would be cool! I feel like that is a very realistic budget for beginning camping!
For those that don't know. That condensation is from lack of airflow in a single wall tent with almost no mesh. That condensation can be a killer in colder environments. Over night, the sleeping bag gets wet, your clothes get wet, wakeup wet and cold, hyperthermia sets in. Enjoyed the budget gear vid very much. Thanks.
These videos are great! Mike's advice about FB Marketplace is spot on: there is a lot of great stuff there. Also having a friend who camps and can share gear is always a plus.
Really enjoyable video, Sei. Love camping/gear videos. Kudos for putting up with a soggy tent to provide camping content for viewers. The light and the cook kit look worthy of consideration.
This is helpful I'm going to be homeless in about 2 weeks so I will be staying at the free campgrounds in Florida I need a budget camping setup to live in for at least the next 3 months before I get the results in regards to my waiver for the army and this is in my budget. Keep up the great work I just subscribed to your channel😁
Great video. You should do another video at a $200-$250 price range then maybe a $500 price range. Kind of a test to find the minimum budget to put together a comfortable function camping set up. So beginners can see what the minimum budget they need to set aside to start off.
Seam seal and waterproof the tent with some waterproofing spray, lay down an emergency blanket on the floor of the tent to reflect heat, layer up, get a used, surplus military issued bivvy and you're good to go. All that can be done for anywhere between 100-130 bucks. Not bad for a cold night's setup. Thats what I do. I don't camp all the time maybe twice a year and ive had one of these tents last me since about 2018-2019.
I obviously use a sleeping pad. That was about 15 bucks. And in conjunction I'll put an inflatable one on top that was about $20. So it's cheap tarp, tent on top, cheap disposable emergency blanket on floor, military foam sleeping pad so my body heat doesn't escape too easily, cheap $20 inflatable pad on top of that, then the Goretex bivvy with the jungle bag inside and a surplus wool blanket and I guarantee to you, you can sleep nice and cozy in some cold temperatures for pretty cheap.
I can not imagine how hot that tent gets in the hotter month 😂 As a tip for anyone that wants to camp on the cheap, keep an eye on the walmart and academy clearance sections around October. You can find insane deals if you are patient and not to picky. Got a 300 dollar North Face tent for 60 bucks last year, it is uglier than sin but it is high quality and doesnt leak
I use the rule of 2, for one person a 2 person tent is big enough for one person plus gear, also a cargo blanket on the tent floor helps with a little coushion and some insilation under you, also a simple battery fan is a life saver in a tent like that just to keep air moving and if you are able to catch some flow under the fly keep condensation at minimum if not clear
Good videos I like the Ozark 4 person dome tent has a little spot for your shoes and Ozarks got a 4 in 1 stove like yours but the kit comes with a adapter so u can use a regular one pond green tank and a nice tarp over your tent can help big time
Thank gawd! Thanks for being real. I get it, if you have the money, go Gucci overlander balls out with the equipment, etc. However, I also love the challenge of finding/going simple and low cost, but not sacrificing too much on quality.
Good video concept. Simplicity is good in today's world of fancy brand name stuff. Nice truck too, maybe it's stock, but you got all the bells and whistles from the dealer? lol.
You might as well do the $100 Temu thing next. I know everyone else has done it already, but I like your honest opinions, and I think you do a better job at it.
I second the Facebook Marketplace comment. I was able to find a Coleman Skydome 4-person tent (MSRP: $130 at Walmart) for $40, and took that to my first camping trip at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL last month. The previous owner had used the tent exactly once, and it was exactly what I needed for a cost that I wouldn't have been too sad over had I not enjoyed it as much as I did.
I bet reading the "description" for those items online is hilarious. Tent: "Please insert adaptable beam inside ground surface for having most balances enjoyment. Now lncrease a mechanism for structure completed and."
I think absolute bare basics camping and having an actually enjoyable experience would cost roughly $300 at a combo of walmart, Amazon and Costco for low to mid range gear. I accumulated probably just under $1k worth of gear before I moved away from home and had to abandon my gear at my parents' place. Hadn't gone camping in years and finally went this year for a friend's wedding in the woods. I actually spent about $500 total to reup on my gear on top of maybe $100 worth of genral outdoor rec stuff I already had on hand, but $200 of the $500 was definitely creature comforts and "just in case" stuff and a lot of it isn't really overland focused, niether was my gear that I abandoned, but more "pull up to a campsite and set up". I bought it with the intention of continuing ot go camping at least twice a year, and I want this gear to suffice for me and my wife, so I went OK quality, but cheap enough that if it didn't meet expectation its nbd. So here is what I considered as part of my $300 "necessities" Gear- Walmart Gear - Ozark Trail Mess Kit - $10 Ozark Trail Skillet Set - $24 48QT Cooler (Would go bigger if camping longer than a few days)- $25 Pop-up Canopy 10x10- $50 Sleeping bag - $20 mini charcoal grill - $15 Grilling utensils kit - $20 Cooking utensils kit - $15 Tent - $27 Knife set - $18 Inflatable matress (can be subbed for a sleeping pad) - $20 Amazon Gear- Folding shovel - $28.00 Camp pillow - $18 200ft of Paracord - $17 Total for above comes out to just under $300 and leaves some space for other creature comforts like maybe a camp stove. Again a lot of the purchase decisions were made with the idea that this gear would be used a few times a year, and dedicated for this purpose. Packaged most of this gear between two plastic totes. Just need to throw em in my truck and go. Get home, take inventory, maybe wash some things, then pack em back up and shuck it in storage till next time.
I've always thought it was so easy to just wing it... but some people aren't as down as I am... a little budget at a time... but that's true with almost everything ... I can't afford a crate of ammo at once... but a box every other payday adds up. and a flashlight here and a pan there and a sleeping bag for Christmas adds up after 20 years. now all I need to do is move somewhere nice instead of south coast Texas where winter is only in February and it's too hot to go outside between April and november
I would like if you tried a camping setup heavily weighted toward an overly ample sleep platform; a rought night's sleep is a sure precursor to a rough day.
I would think that you could get a pretty dang good set up for $500. Sierra can have some good deals. Looking for close out deals, clearance sales etc can land you with a good set up and not cost a fortune. I happened to go to camping world when they had an extra 50% off clearance and scored Kelty tents for the kids for $30. I also got a Jet Boil stove for $50.
I think it would be really cool if you and LLOD collabed on a vid with Outdoor Boys! Like a summer overland to Alaska and go camping with Outdoor Boys! That would be so cool! Because between you, LLOD, and Outdoor Boys I get all my entertainment.
Budget camping video starts wearing an arcteryx jacket. 😂 Best reccomendation for budget camping, use what you have. It might not be perfect, but it will work... :)
100% correct. The cheap stuff will not last as long, and true you dont need very high end stuff to go out in nature and have a good time. Just the irony of talking about this wearing what a $500ish rain jacket is hilarious
$5,000 dollar budget camping video would be great . Everyone does the cheapest camp videos .. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ALL THE HIGHER END CAMPING ACCESSORIES YOU CAN FIND ( CRAZY LUXURY ITEMS TO MAKE CAMPING MUCH BETTER AND ALOT MORE COMFORTABLE) SO IF YOU CAN, GO CRAZY AND MAKE A LUXURY ONE!!!
I get what you’re saying and I am totally on point with you. It is super inexpensive to go camping, particularly if you can get into the National Forest and not have to pay for a campsite. When I was much younger, before I got my quarter of $1 million Sprinter Van, we went out and bought a super cheap tent and brought pillows and things from home and you don’t even need to buy the sleeping bag and all that. it just takes some imagination and excitement to get out and enjoy the great outdoors with even no protection. The cheapest one person tent that I had, and I am almost 6‘5“ tall, was $14. I still have one of those to mark campsites when we are in the woods.
Same. Before I bought my $1.65 million Earth Roamer I use to just through a blanket into the back of my '89 Ford F150 and go spend the night at a free National Forest campsite. We're almost twins. Must suck for you being poor though.
Just a suggestion. Get out and support REI this fall. They are struggling and employee owned. Big box stores and Amazon are killing them. They are a good store and need our support!
I'm sorry man, I love your videos, but I have to agree with some people that if you aren't sleeping in a tent, on the ground, you're not camping. Good video, though. Thumbs up 👍

Totally agree, I just found a diamondback hd cover with crossbin 8 for 900 on FB marketplace
Military surplus gear is a great cheap option too!
Really enjoyable video, Sei. Love camping/gear videos. Kudos for putting up with a soggy tent to provide camping content for viewers. The light and the cook kit look worthy of consideration.
I love the fact that you showed the outdoors and camping are accessible. Dug the cook kit. Thanks for sticking out the night Talon!
You don’t need expensive camping stuff,” says the man in the $600 Arcteryx rain jacket😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I Like you Dude 😉

Getting some blair witch vibes in that tent. Great content as always dude ✌️

Great video Talon! Best line was "I bought this truck so now I can't eat good food" 😅 Safe travels and we'll see you in the next one!
🤣🙃
I think as far as the tent goes it’s definitely doable if in a money pinch. You could always use scotch guard or a sprayable water repellent.
You might as well do the $100 Temu thing next. I know everyone else has done it already, but I like your honest opinions, and I think you do a better job at it.
I have that same tent!! Iv used a few times. It works good but it won’t last long if you use it a lot!!
I have that cook set! Its actually pretty good, we've used it a few times car camping
I'd spend a $100 on a 0 F degree sleeping bag first. The rest is just comfort. This was a cool video though
awesome! as I spend $15K to outfit my 4runner! next should be a budget USED gear video! REI garage, FB market, etc! see how "used" the gear is!
Market place is king. If you want anything good on a budget you just gotta watch market place like crazy.
I hate heat so much that I would probably be perfectly cozy in that sleeping bag at 10⁰F ❤

So here is what I considered as part of my $300 "necessities" Gear-
Walmart Gear -
Ozark Trail Mess Kit - $10
Ozark Trail Skillet Set - $24
48QT Cooler (Would go bigger if camping longer than a few days)- $25
Pop-up Canopy 10x10- $50
Sleeping bag - $20
mini charcoal grill - $15
Grilling utensils kit - $20
Cooking utensils kit - $15
Tent - $27
Knife set - $18
Inflatable matress (can be subbed for a sleeping pad) - $20
Amazon Gear-
Folding shovel - $28.00
Camp pillow - $18
200ft of Paracord - $17
Total for above comes out to just under $300 and leaves some space for other creature comforts like maybe a camp stove.

If you could show where you would spend and where you could cheap out would be a great video. 🤙🏼
I would’ve setup the tent in the truck bed. I hate sleeping on the ground ✌🏾
i have that same sleeping bag but in black and has been vary useful for over a year
Bro you are amazing! I have hope of camping now ❤🎉
For a weekend just couple times a year 1,000 setup would be awesome. Also I think skipping the cooking gear maybe ice chest instead or fridge.
See if you can get everything you need from a mil surplus store 👍 cot, tent, cooking, sleeping bag, etc. That would be cool
$500 would be about right for someone just getting into camping. Thanks for the videos!
I would like if you tried a camping setup heavily weighted toward an overly ample sleep platform; a rought night's sleep is a sure precursor to a rough day.
Got the perfect thing for you coming up soon!
@@TalonSeiGreat! Looking forward to it.

When you buy the most expensive Tacoma so you have to buy the least expensive camp set up 😂
yess sportsmans warehouse video luv that place
I think it would be really cool if you and LLOD collabed on a vid with Outdoor Boys! Like a summer overland to Alaska and go camping with Outdoor Boys! That would be so cool! Because between you, LLOD, and Outdoor Boys I get all my entertainment.
I would say a $500 budget would be cool. But the $100 is still a good watch! I would say maybe Academy or Bass Pro?
Considering I do a lot of tent camping more of that would be cool.
Budget camping video starts wearing an arcteryx jacket. 😂 Best reccomendation for budget camping, use what you have. It might not be perfect, but it will work... :)
Should do a budget video from gear from Marketplace and Craigslist.
I would like to see a realistic video on a $1,000 camping budget I would think most people could come up with that in 3 to 6 months of savings
Time for a mega budget "overlander" build!
What jacket were you wearing?
That tent is 16 bucks on AliExpress
I mean for what it is you did pretty good
this video gets +10 points for the dave portnoy mention
The names of the products was killing me 😂
Hammock camping beats ground dwelling
Well well well look whos an extra on the vid. Wish you two do some old school gun stuff while camping
100% correct. The cheap stuff will not last as long, and true you dont need very high end stuff to go out in nature and have a good time. Just the irony of talking about this wearing what a $500ish rain jacket is hilarious

What Arc'teryx jacket are you wearing in this video?
I have had this jacket for years and can’t remember the model. Which further explains how expensive gear is generally made to last 😅
true just a new fully equiped truck for camping, why spend a lotnof money on camping gear 😂
would be cool to see an $100 ebay camping setup

you should do temu budget video XD
More sprinters please.

Try a $250 budget at Cabela's.
$500 budget would be a good video
Sportsman’s would be cool
Budget video: go to any type sportsman store and pick the “cheapest” of each category. Then see what it actually cost.
Try Temu
Maybe 200 for couples setup?
Just a suggestion. Get out and support REI this fall. They are struggling and employee owned.

I 2nd $1,000 budget. A person could save $100/mo for a year, then buy some decent gear. Not budget, not the best, but pretty good.
450 and walmart amazon combo
$200 budget. With no specific store but best user rating you can find.
$250 on Facebook market place would be pretty awesome
I think $250 dollars would be a solid budget. Which would be about a week’s pay for someone working for the federal minimum wage.
$300 Amazon seems like could have decent set up
Those 100$ get you more right now in TikTok shop
Please make $250 Budget Camping Video (Amazon)
Lmao i buy those ramens by the case nongshim is the shit.
$250 costco camping challenge.
You don't need $20,000 for camping but you might need $120,000 truck😅
I like when u use the kimbo camper or the Mercedes sprinter van
$250, $500, $1,000, $2,500 $5,000, $10,000, etc lol
Cover all the price ranges and would make for great content for the next few months
