LOL. British Army friends tell me the SA80 IS made by Mattel!!! They used to swap out plastic internals for home-made metal parts to make them more reliable. Seriously I am a proud Englishman, but the idiots in charge have a history of utter stupidity. It's all that in-breeding of the "Ruperts" that go to Sandhurst (or become MPs...).
This gun gets a bad rap. I've owned mine since about 2008, and put lots of rounds through it, regular and suppressed, and have rarely cleaned it. It's never not fired, not once jammed, and its remarkably accurate. The key is to have a good gunsmith tune the trigger, since the stock trigger was pretty spongy from the factory. It aims and shoulders incredibly well, and is can be switched between main and offhand without much issue. The forward eject works flawlessly. I think I remember it is picky about mags, but I bought some hk steel mags for it way back when, and this might be the secret to the reliability I've enjoyed from it. Looks strange, yes, and kinda a challenge for proper sling attachment, but she will grow on you with some shooting time.
"offhand" doesn't mean non-dominant hand, it means firing from the standing position without bracing against anything. But it does look like a good ambidextrous gun.
Actually fun fact,Slovenia did adopt them for their main military. They have a modification of it called the F2000S which come with these ACOG's on them.
Heard something from a Belgian soldier about the trigger assembly/lower receiver ... they just poor water in it to clean it while on the field, no fear of getting that much rust since it's mainly made of plastic. Still being replaced by the Scar now.
Actually, the SCAR is replacing the FN FNC (it's like an updated version of the FAL) as the standard service rifle for the Belgian military; the F2000 is one of the rifles used by the Special Forces Group of the Belgian Armed Forces Land Component.
Even 5 years after the original upload date, this rifle still looks like something straight out of Halo! One of the most unique/innovative designs of an assault rifle in recent memory.
BELGIAN FIREAMRS RULES FN has made a good job on this weapon. it's easy to strip, easy to clean / maintain, EVERYONE can shoot lefty or righty, it's easy to use and its modular (on the military version you can change the foregrip with the FN GL1. For the top you put the originaly build scope for it, or run on iron sigths or other aim-points that you can buy aftermarket with the picatanny rail system). And on your hands it have nice feel, its realy comfortable. The last point that i'm find cool on this thing is that its a short weapon with a long barrel.
As a super massive Splinter Cell fan, I have always dreamed and will always dream of sometime getting my hands on an FS2000. For context, in Splinter Cell, the iconic rifle of the series, the SC-20K and the SC-40K, were based off of the F2000, just modified for Third Echelon's operations, such as an integral suppressor. It's said though that FN discontinued the rifle in 2019, by far my favorite firearm I know of, despite being a bullpup.
Got one and I love it! The sealed bolt, light weight, ease of just handing it to my lefty friends, and capacity with the ejection port closed to take 5 shots without ejecting brass is fantastic! FN Reliability and accuracy too! I wouldn't even trade it for one of the newly available Tavors, though it would be my second pick overall.
hof8231 well nah thats not at all what i meant, i meant that this particular weapon that is, the Belgium only made FS2000 would not be as common throughout the US and i would expect quite hard to find in that situation
Well a mate of mine is in the belgian army and he said it's an excellent gun, accurate and recoil is very low which make it very comfortable in combination with it's design. One negative he said that it isn't as reliable in sandy conditions as one might suggest. So pretty much useless in Afganistan, Iraq. I'm sure they will get rid of that problem soon, if they didn't already. (this review was a like 4 years ago)
Can't agree on the recoil, it is not so small - quite stronger than the G-36 with the same SS109 round. Plus can't agree on problems with sand ...the rifle was used in Afghanistan by the Slovenian armed forces, it is still used by them in Mali and didn't hear any complaints regarding. There is however an issue with feeling the effects of wind against the rifle when in standing shooting position (the rifle has a large cross section so there is a big area that is affected by the wind and with wind gusts one may have problems placing accurate fire). Precision - crazy good regarding the short length of the barrel.
Now i understand why Tom Clancys have selected this for the main weapon in the game Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and another books of Splinter Cell series , this weapon have no recoil and huge precision with good the caliber and silencer, this weapon is perfect for a super spy use. Tom clancys was a military genius :) RIP

You sure its charging handle reciprocates? The view from the left side toward the end of the video had no movement of the charging handle so it either cycles faster than RUclips's frames or it's non-reciprocating. Beautiful weapon in my opinion. The sultry curves of the lower receiver seem to wrap and meld together perfectly with the all business upper receiver. Too often we see firearms that force us to choose between the two, with AR and SCAR variants boasting high practicality in a boxy, uncomfortable shell or classically styled rifles and AKs that lack in function but feature luxurious curved, sometimes wooden surfaces. This seems to offer the best of both worlds.
God this guy. He always starts out talking sarcastically and I believe everything he says because he just says it so convincingly "I was able to get my hands on a rifle from the future, so I got a new plasma cartridge in, we're fully loaded. Lets take a couple shots with it" I never gave it another thought. Love that.
That Independence 5.56 is some hot stuff, my favorite M193 by far. Stuff clocks a good 150fps or more faster than any other commercially produced M193. Even with handloads I have to go out of spec to duplicate these loads, very potent stuff.
Longtime watcher, though I rarely comment. Big fan of your content, personality, as well as just your basic handling of all the firearms you feature. Thanks for the entertainment and knowledge! But I'm sitting here on my coffee break at work and I just came across this video of yours, and I have to write this. Considering there are over 2800 comments on this video, I'm sure I'm late to the party, but here it goes: "Does it come in the 40-watt range?"
Okay I looked up Weebaboo and I can tell you I don't wish I was Japanese I am perfectly happy as the Irish American I am. I just like the story of Ghost in The Shell.
OK... price goes to Fs2K -$1k from the Scar (if you can find it BECAUSE they are no longer being imported). The trigger HANDS DOWN goes to the Scar because you can really upgrade it Timney or Geissele triggers (Geissele Comp. 3.5lb on mine). Fs2K is in a pack like the P90 and the upgrades suck(Neu-trigger is like an aluminum tape band-aid) . Range in both firearms is debatable in the 500Y tests with 65gr LC ammo, both 1/7 twist chrome lined barrels, with the same optics (on a bag). Ergonomics go to the Fs2K as a out of the box (but the Scar can be set up for you... Just like ANY AR-15). In my opinion the Fs2K is good money spent on a odd gun that is good in range and in room clearance and my Scar is my go to 3 gun choice.
my2005stang Thanks for the info and the comparison. The price won't be too bad because I'm going to get it from some people I know pretty well, but is still a concern, which leads to my next question, in your opinion is the scar 1k better than the FS? I like the lower price, but I like the aspect of the scar being able to be used for more applications (like deer hunting).
donkey puncher I didn't even notice that you were talking about the 17s until just now. UGH loaded question. NEVERMIND me I don't have a 17 (.308) but I have the 16 (5.56/.223). The 17 would have the range out to about 700Y easy. But not a good house gun.
hickok45 I have been watching your videos for a long time now. Finally made a youtube account and i had to cam and show you the love. Thank you for all the videos you put out, you are a really cool dude and your videos can be addicting to watch, i find myself binge watching videos i havent seen yet. Anyway just wanted to say high and keep the sweet videos coming.
If you're talking about the line on top of the sight, I read somewhere that it actually absorbs light from the environment and then converts that into a reticle in the scope.
I was gonna get a vector until I saw this video. This gun looks incredible and they have one at the local gun store up the road. $2000 and its mine. This weapon just looks so easy to shoot and clean.
I love my FS, it is 1 MOA accurate so I removed the red dot and installed a Nikon 2-7 Nicoplex hunting scope. It is plenty tactical when set to 2-3 power, and allows me to hit the wing off a fly at 100 Yards using 55GR Federal. In addition to, I installed the Tri-Rail in place of the curved foregrip; allowing me to install a Surefire Weaponlight. I am very happy. It broke in after 100 rounds (I fired 60 and cleaned the barrel in between each shot for match barrel break in). After break in, the trigger pull naturally reduced to 4 lbs. That is not a match pull however it is a match gun.
Hickok is the type of oral presenter that can go on a 20 minute tangent, and the whole time the listener is engaged, and doesn't even realize he's off topic.
I don't really understand the use of this but. I like the fact that it ejects spend rounds after the first 2-3 shots. Plus it ejects them at the front, which makes it very handy for left handed shooters. As always FN has made a very quality and ambidextrous friendly weapon. (p.s.: Yay for Belgian weapons)
I think this often overlooked puppy has the right idea: seal off the bolt carrier and trigger housing and so long as you have a mechanically reliable system, there's no stopping it. Save bad ammo and mags, but still...
A guy I play airsoft with has a replica of this. We call it "the speedboat gun". Does it not look like you could put an outboard on it and go racing down a river with it?
Well yes, a part of it is I'm 17 and can't buy my own guns yet. But it has nothing to do with being cool. I don't know if you've looked around at the world lately, but guns outside of video games aren't exactly looked at as "cool." Another part of it is while it is far from perfect training, it is cheap training, where you can work on marksmanship fundamentals (to a degree) and learn tactical movements. Did I mention it's CHEAP training, as in guns can have the same battery of arms for a quarter of the price and ammo is less than a cent per round? I still shoot real firearms. But I'm not rich enough to buy rooms full of 5.56 to train with, and I'm at the mercy of my parents for another year on when I can buy and shoot real firearms.
Yep. It definitely has drawbacks and can leave training scars if not properly supplemented with real range time. But yeah, real team-oriented tactics are the draw to it for me.
"Plasma Cartridge" Hickok45 you will forever be in the Hall of Fame of Gun Reviewers. You make Life Good~

Don't care what he shoots, any video with hickock45 shooting something is bound to be entertaining
"ambidextrous sights" lmao
We need a p90 review now, sir.
+rightsman123 he did a video of the ps90 a month ago
Sam Fishers rifle throughout the splinter cell video games. I want this gun so bad.
Once I move to TX, I'm gonna buy this gun right away.
Got to fire a few of these on a military exercise a few years back. They are actually really nice. FN do some very good work.
Hickok 45 the best when it comes reviewing weapons.
i watch this guy because its the closest i can see to a real gun over here in Australia, they won't me have any of these guns D':
***** not much man nothing really happens here lol.
sorry you guys got cucked come here to merica so you can own a freedom stick
Just buy one illegally your country is having problems rate now with armed drug dealer's so just buy one from them
enjoy your gun-free country lol
There's plenty going on here, just not in the same sense as America
This rifle is in Ghost in a Shell
Weeb
It's Me I like it but its your opinion if you dont, but the insult is uncalled for
WHat the hell is a weeaboo LOL
Okay I looked up Weebaboo and I can tell you I don't wish I was Japanese I am perfectly happy as the Irish American I am. I just like the story of Ghost in The Shell.
The Odessa Cubbage Foundation LOL
9:35 thought he missed for a second but the bullet went right through the pot and left a little hole :P
this gun is amazing, I'm a battlefield fan so I'm already in love
"...sight's ambidextrous, too, can use either eye on it..." Annnnd... Mr. Hickock wins the Internet once again.
Sam Fisher's rifle of choice. That thing is badass.
"Got a new plasma cartridge in"
half a minute in and I'm already dying xD
I'm deciding on getting an fs2000 or a scar 17s and can't decide, but since you've shot both which do you prefer?
Not even close to the same gun. try them both out and decide.
I realize they are not even the same gun, which is why I am asking for opinions as to which one is the superior firearm.
OK... price goes to Fs2K -$1k from the Scar (if you can find it BECAUSE they are no longer being imported).
Man those plasma cartridges aren't cheep.
This aged well.
*Sam Fisher breathing intensifies*
WOW, this gun is so awesome O_O
I have to get me one one day.
SgtPickledic I hope the Tavor is better than your grammar for sure !
AP0CALYPSY Tavor looks ugly as sin though
8:48 no brass came out. I think we are in the presence of a "ghost in the shell"
Belgian weapons are the best :)
Blrf
Ironically Americans appreciate these guns more than the Belgians themselves...
And their waffles. Don't forget the waffles man.
i thought german, italian, israeli, czech, american were the best. Let's say that the average level is very very high indeed. This looks fantastic.
Steven Li older FN guns like the FNC and recently the FN SCAR and FN57 as a sidearm. F2000 is only used by spec ops.
It’s funny how my Rifle instructor calls it a rightie and a wrongie
I also love the way the casings drop out, very weird and cool!
The factory sights and the associated dust cover make it even more Sci-fi
Belgium !
A similarly concept as the Steyr AUG
"This is no FN, this is Matel!" LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(p.s.: Yay for Belgian weapons)
sam fisher
I love that assault rifle
its not an assault rifle
its a bullpup assault rifle
It's a civilian rifle... where's the full auto for "assaults"?
@@TheQuagmire007 idiot
@@squatdoc hes no idiot. It is not an assault rifle.
Some of you remember MW2
That's a weird way to spell Battlefield 3...
I sure do remember MechWarrior 2
+Psychosmurf43 Golden, it's also in Battlefield 4 and it got out into Hardline as well.
+Psychosmurf43 Noob tryhard. Battlefield and COD MW2 are both awesome...
Modern Warfare 2 came out much before battlefield!
+Psychosmurf43 Splinter Cell also.
Rick M has it exactly right. Take anything comparable, and this thing is as least as quality, and greater in form/function.
Cheers!
Hickok you should totally do a part 2 of the FS2000 i love that gun it looks so cool wish i had one myself
I think this often overlooked puppy has the right idea: seal off the bolt carrier and trigger housing and so long as you have a mechanically reliable system, there's no stopping it. Save bad ammo and mags, but still...
I love mine.
A guy I play airsoft with has a replica of this. We call it "the speedboat gun". Does it not look like you could put an outboard on it and go racing down a river with it?
what is Air soft? Is that like saying I want to be cool and buy guns but I cant?
Well yes, a part of it is I'm 17 and can't buy my own guns yet. But it has nothing to do with being cool. I don't know if you've looked around at the world lately, but guns outside of video games aren't exactly looked at as "cool."
Another part of it is while it is far from perfect training, it is cheap training, where you can work on marksmanship fundamentals (to a degree) and learn tactical movements.
TheMetalHeaD256 ignore him, he's probably jealous cos the only collection of guns he has is a collection of Spud guns from the 99 cent store.
White Chocolate Airsoft can easily simulate live combat. While not including the real time danger, real war tactics can be deployed while playing.
Yep. It definitely has drawbacks and can leave training scars if not properly supplemented with real range time. But yeah, real team-oriented tactics are the draw to it for me.
I love watching his videos because not only is he the best, but he always has mu favorite guns. He is the Hue Hefner of the Gun community.
Love using this gun in battlefield 4. Really unique looking!
