7:27 I like how Sora does it. He doesn’t point his Keyblade to the sky to cast Tornado like Ven. He first actually spins the key around to build up some wind THEN he cast the attack. I like that. It add some personality. Sora does like spinning his keyblade in a good chunk of his animations I noticed. I think his the only character that does that in this series.
0:17 I'm pretty sure there's a chart for melding online that tells you what every single combination creates, I ended up using that for my playthrough because I was exhausted of soft resetting
Fun fact! BBS's Deep Freeze is similar to CoM's Freeze because they're the same move. They're both called "Freeze" in Japanese (フリーズ Furīzu). Same goes for Deep Freeze in DDD. Additionally, Ventus' Faith has the same name as Holy in CoM, which is Holy (ホーリー Hōrī). In fact, all Holy, Pearl and Faith moves across the English versions are all just Holy, the localizers just didn't settle on Faith until Days.
I wonder if its the same kind of issue Final Fantasy had back in the SNES days where people thought "Holy" might be considered religious symbolism and didn't want it in the English version of the game. That's the main reason that they called Holy by the names Fade, White and Pearl in 1, 4 and 6.
My favorite kingdom hearts battle system other than drives and keyblade transformations: commands This was so fun and a huge switchup compared to Kh1 and 2 I also love how you switch styles when you use certain commands, i remember getting the ice cream keyblade for the first time and getting the rythm mixer command style and ice cream, op af
Firaga and triple firaga are actually broken in BBS. Absolutely chess against the Iron imprisoner and its many forms since it causes it to be stunned after being hit by Firaga/triple firaga.
Soft reset is a square thing. Idk about every game but i know 1 and im sure 2 had it. You hold R1, L1, R2, L2, START and select. Final fantasy had it is where i learned about it first.
Cynical, Jared, I love the current content. Been watching for years, I love the revamp you’ve created with your channel, just giving everything a good once-over and getting things up to date, you’re putting in solid work. Can’t wait for the next KH4 trailer, you know I’ll be watching your reaction first even after the trailer comes out, always TGJ first for new full trailers 💚 hope you’re doig well!
0:46 My friend accidentally performed a soft reset while playing KHI recently, so it could very well work for the whole HD collection. He was on the PS5, so I’m not sure if that’s a universal input, but it definitely brought him right to the title screen.
I think kh1 and Bbs are the only games that let you soft reset but I'm not entirely sure if they changed that on the ps5 version and all the games let you reset now. (Oh and I forgot Ddd has a soft reset too)
@@kevin13cabelloAlright, so I just tested all the HD collections, Kingdom Hearts III, and Melody of Memory (all on the Xbox One), and these are my findings: 1) When inputting the soft reset buttons (L1+R1+START), they need only be tapped at once, not held. Otherwise, as far as I’m aware, this is the universal soft reset input across the games that have that function. 2) None of the cutscene movies (those being Re:coded, 358/2 Days, and χ Back Cover) have a soft reset feature. But really, why would they? 3) Every actually playable game in both HD collections has a soft reset function… with the lone exception of KHIIFM. I don’t know why this is, but I even tried holding the buttons and nothing happened. 4) Neither KHIII nor Melody of Memory have the feature, just like KHIIFM. It’s not as strange of a feature to be missing for these games, however, than it is for one singular game in a collection. 5) The window for soft-resetting begins once the save file is finished loading up, effectively meaning that you can jump back to the title screen while still on the title screen. 6) The only exception to the previous point I have found is during the loading screen with hints in A Fragmentary Passage. You can reset before and after, but not while the bar at the bottom of the screen is filling up. TL;DR: At least on the Xbox One, L1+R1+START can be pressed at once to soft-reset every Kingdom Hearts HD Collection game, except for Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. (And the movies, for obvious reasons.)
My favorite move is Time Splicer, not because I think it’s the best, but because when I use it I shout the move like a gremlin-lizard guy from bit crunched fighting game. “How ‘bout some TIME SPLICAH?!!!”
Man I've been grinding on this game for hours and really gotta get these commands. Only reason why I'm not doing it right now is because as I'm typing this, my Steam Deck just crashed and made me lose hours of progress, so I'm taking a break from trying to complete it. Thanks for the tutorial!
Salvation was actually very helpful in my first ventus run, i would never get hit while doing it so it gave me some good time to breathe agains vanitas while also dealing good damage
This was probably the single most enjoyable thing about BBS, and something I personally loved. Being able to utilize all these different commands just made combat arguably more fun in comparison to the other games, even KH2 - ignoring the obvious balance issues and overall feel. KH2 was by far more refined, and plenty fun, but having access to all the commands we do in BBS would take it to a whole new level.
I would like to remind us all that Re:Coded also had some pretty fun and unique commands as well. Maybe it also deserves a look in a similar manner to this?
Y'know, most people just talk about Thunder Surge and Mine Square as "the best attacks in the game", but the fact you rapid fire so many different useful moves for 11 minutes shows that BBS has a LOT of really good moves, actually. Of course, the game is still an unbalanced mess, but more people should try experimenting beyond thunder surge and mine square. It's kinda fun looking at all the pretty competent alternatives and changing up how you fight different encounters. Alongside the plethora of commands, shotlocks, and combos being competent in damage alongside finishers, BBS does a good job giving you a lot of fun, broken things to play with.
Zettaflare mention obligates me to share the fun fact that in all Square RPGs that use final fantasy magic tiering, only two creatures have shown the ability to use zettaflare. Donald and one of Bravely Default's final bosses.
Fun fact, if you can get the timing right, you can easily beat the Vanitas Lingering Sentiment boss as Ven before he can even get off his first attack with that big ball of darkness by casting Tornado at the start of the fight, and then before he can recover, cast a second Tornado. IIRC, he should then be one hit away from being defeated. But the timing is tight, so it's difficult to pull off.
Tornado isn't the greatest command, but it does have ONE notable use: it's one of the only ways to completely bypass the Vanitas Spirit's absurd defense. It requires very careful timing and isn't completely reliable, but if you hit him with Tornado and get him trapped inside of it, he won't break out, and about half of his life bar will be gone by the time the attack ends (assuming it's maxed out). Two Tornados and a couple of mines, and he's done.
It was hard to make these commands, in my 2nd playthrough I was better with it. I'd say the strongest command is the one that allows to obtain Exp just by walking, right before the final battle I simply walked around for a long while to level up 🤣🤣
Biggest thing to think about guys. Why only certain of them can use certain moves even though keyblade wielders are usually taught the same training. Remember how eraqus came out of terra in KH3 and the double innuendo and entendre in BBS when Xehanort is talking to terra in his heart fighting for it. Someone's in terra and someone's in ventus
I like how 3D did this same concept, but a bit better. Things are shared between the two characters instead of needing to do everything three times. I do really love BbS, but I've also recently realized that it is extremely mini game heavy.
Thank goodness for these kind of videos it's really annoying how bbs doesn't have a recipe book in game for commands, specially because there are those recipe items that barely do anything. Also, dumb question, do y'all think Roxas is at level 1 when we fight him in KH2? Since he was reset when he was sent inside the simulation and then just died. Like he got his memories back but did he get all the powers too or is he just using what he was born with.
How convenient that the Kingdom Hearts game where you have to guess to meld good attacks without the internet, is the one game in the collection that lets you soft reset lol!
"it sends shivers through my nipples every time" BRUH IM DEAD 💀💀💀 Also, I have to say that I really appreciate you telling me the best commands. I am about to play through this game and it has some uniqueness that I've struggled with in the past (though in my first playthrough I did rely on Mega Flare for each character and basically just spammed that the whole time)
KH DDD for the 3ds also has a soft reset finger, which is quite similar, L + R + start (or select, i forgot which one). i lost an hour of progress in the world that never was because i somehow fat fingered all three buttons at once 😅
Just curious, theres some spells or command attacks that i want to make and to make them they take some of the "aga" spells but when i go to meld them theyre just greyed out. I have them at max lvl too, i dont know if i need to hit a certain point in the story or collect a certain item but i cant figure it out, was just wondering if someone know how to fix it or had the same problem and got past it, a little help would be nice pls
You know this Game has alot of cool Attacks that are fun to use but since You whould have to Go out of You're way to get them i sticked with commands like fire and get bored. Neat.
Sadly due to the pace of the combat in DDD, Sora loses this.

the command deck system in BBS is a big portion on why it is my favorite KH game
