What about stuck bolts that have to use a torch and welder in some cases. But if it’s all new parts and you know what you’re doing putting it together is easy and generally less messy. I believe what you are saying is knowing what parts do what and go where is often learned by taking apart.
Back in 1985, when I started auto shop class, that's how we learned. We were given 1 day to go to the junk yard, pull the engine and transmission, and then we had to strip them down, diagnose any and all issues, then, if possible, rebuild them. The best part was if we turned a profit, we got to keep it or use it for after-hours shop time. The 1st business I started was servicing teachers and city cop cars from 3 to 6 on school days and all day Saturday. I was making 30k a year 1990 when I graduated.
Nice way to learn. Pro tip: resist the urge to turn it upside down to remove the oil pan... this way, debris, shavings, broken pieces, dirt, etc.. stays in the oil pan instead of being dumped into the rotating assembly.
Doesn't really matter if you are on a complete teardown and everything is going to be disassembled, especially if the block is not going to be used due to block damage. Partial teardowns and using the block without a deep clean? yeah you might want to take the pan off without dumping any crap in the block by turning it upside down.
@@zainchetty1590it just shows that it had cooling issues already and potentially overheating problems, or running too cool causing excessive wear because the oil wasn’t hot enough
This has got to be one of the deepest RUclips rabbit holes I’ve ever wandered into. When you expect a DYI and find musically entertaining distraction of epic perportion!
Just a friendly tip take pictures of everything before and after removing every single part 💯😂you will save yourself a whole lotta stress and anger, but great vid keep it up
Absolutely true even for a lot simpler small engines. For this, I would have at least 2-4 video camera running plus the still camera shots till I knew every single piece and fastener all in one big box or flat surface. For this engine, I estimate that to be about 30 identical engines done almost back to back.
Have you ever seen a brake specialist take apart more than one wheel. It is because if they forget how it goes back together they can look on another wheel to see how it goes back together.
Good Luck, As many who know tearing the engine down is the easy part. The hard part is doing it right and knowing the correct procedures to follow. When done right the engine should purrrrr. Happy wrenching..!
Will say it is nice to finally come across a video of a woman who is working on something with her hands and is knowledgeable on the topic and isn't in skin tight leggings or super skin tight legging shorts and half top pretending she knows what she's talking about just for views from thirsty dudes. I mean who doesn't like a woman in leggings but it's getting out of hand 😂 I'd take a woman like this who doesn't care to get dirty building a car vs who's glued to tik Tok I salute this woman for not falling into the view thot community 🎉 WE NEED MORE WOMEN LIKE THIS!
I'm impressed by the fact that you're actually wearing gloves. Why people do this with their bear hands when that's completely unnecessary is way above my pay grade.
Tearing down a motor of any kind and seeing how it works is something I would highly recommend. If you can find a factory manual on that motor it will help you rebuild it.
You got the takin' apart stuff done, thats the easy part. The first advice Id give you is take your time, there's no rush. Rushing things tends to cause mistakes to be made. When you're taking an engine apart, take your time and examine EVERYTHING very closely, especially if you don't know the COMPLETE history. You should be taking notes, too.
Cool! I hope to build engines one day. I'm in high school, and over summer I took an automotive camp with my friends. We took apart and rebuilt a go-kart single cylinder engine in 3 days total. No instructions, just adult supervision in case something dangerous happened.
Cool. I love seeing gals riding their motorcycles, working on their cars and bikes, and being curious enough to be self assertive, and then there's the extra added plus to this type of activity, (besides the joy of just watching her do the work), and that is: it leaves us more time to drink beer... It's a win-win.
It's always nice to see how messed up things get when you are trusting other so called professionals to do the job right the first time. Then find out diffrently. Great way to learn by getting your hands in to the engine and seeing how everything works keep it up.
I had this engine in my ‘06 G35 with 6sp MT….best oil burner ever made. I single handedly made Mobil 1 hit all their annual quotas while I owned it. Great car, lost to a fender bender against a Tahoe. RIP G35 VQ35

Nice work. Probably better to see in the long form but I do have to say one thing. That is a suspiciously clean "bought" a used engine. And as another person said just about anybody could do that if they're handed a clean engine on a stand in a fully complimented tool room. Fun to watch, just the same. Thank you! 👍
Best way to learn. Never stop being curious! Remember, when it comes to assembly, cleanliness is next to Godliness! As a famous race engine builder taught me many years ago...
those engines are known to blow their valve cover gaskets frequently because of a faulty design. if you put it back together, make sure you put extra goop in the inner corners. they fixed the issue in the VQ37
Ya know when ya meet a girl and she says she is a big fan of football, she works on her own cars, and remodeled her own kitchen you are talking to a girl that had a great dad and no brothers. 😆😆😆 The John Force cures strikes again. I miss the days of GM 350s, Ford 302/351s, Mopar's 318/340s. Okay, but a PCV valve, charcoal canister, and cats on them and you've cleaned them up pretty well. I have a great project for you, LL. It's from a 2006 Mercedes C230. The engine runs great. The only problem is the balance shaft that goes through the block to help reduce vibration wasn't heat-treated properly causing the gear sprockets to disintegrate down to nubs. Major class-action suits happened. I may have the last running engine that wasn't repaired.
ANYONE and I do mean ANYONE can tear down an engine. The hard part is not tearing it down, it's putting it back together and making it run.
Very true
Obviously

😂😂😂True dat.
Idk anything about cars but 100 bucks seems like a good deal for spare parts and learning
Its insane u make ur money back instantly if you know how to refurbish them correctly and sell them
Great deal
Virtaully nothing on that engine thay can be refurbished and sold. Complete trash

Was that a Lot at that time ?
@marvin2678 for a young man right out of high school, it was like 100k today. I owned 3 homes by 2000 and never made more than 60k a year.
Just ran that $30,000 through the BLS’s government inflation calculator. It’s equivalent to $73,547.57 in May 2024 dollars.
A bad engine for $100 is a perfect way to learn how to take apart and build an engine, especially if it’s the same one that’s in your car
A hottie who can tear apart my G35 ? I think I'm in love lol😂😊❤❤❤

Excellent way for a young person to get started learning. Tool literacy is often taken for granted and you are on the right track.
I did the same with old computers when I was a teen.
Damn mad respect to you. I am a mechanic and I followed your commentary word for word. Great job.
Refreshing to see someone interested in racing/drift not just instal mods but doing actual work. Good on you

That's what I do. The bigger the project, the more I snap.

Yeah, I would have to, then bag and label each group of bolts where they went.
