Bro gave us one of them the silent treatment videos, love watching the builds!👍
😅him tired second he have build engine but enough rating 👍
Thank god
Only thing that was missing was the cold start for the boys! Super clean build 💯

Devin has tools for everything. He is one of the most patient and focused car builders I've everything seen. He has his builds down to a science.
look at m539, same build quality
@@dylandiedrichand he’s funny and entertaining, love him 😂
holy glaze bro wipe it off when you're done
"He has his builds down to a science and hes patient" and also he likes to go with sylicone around bolt holes dont degree the cams and left all leftoovers from casting job in the head and we can go on and on with this half ass job :D
I like how he measured the round cylinders with a flat tipped feeler...precision...👍
I love it!!! No hassle, no talk....nothing!! Only mechanical relaxing theraphy
I’m just dying thinking about Devin’s talk track in his head while recording.
“Don’t grunt, don’t breathe, I must be silent” then realizing how much he literally talks to him self as he builds 😂
-Devin! Dinner is ready!
Not now ma! I’m recording!
-Oh I’m sorry mister important!
Shut up already!
😂😂😂
Engine building is so satisfying to watch
The only mistake I saw was at 5:15. When grinding the rings, grind one side only. Otherwise clean work! I build my 4G63s/64s pretty close to this and run the same crank. I use A dial bore gauge on the crank bearing bores directly with the main bearings installed and cradle torqued, instead of the snap gauge/micrometer method.
I've never seen that crank sensor setup before on this block. Very cool!
I'm gonna say it...... you put the paper towels on backwards.
Doesn't matter man. If u think about it
@@abdellahbouincha3519 It matters. Especially with toilet paper!
Lost his credibility putting on backwards. Attention to detail goes a long way when building engines
It’s like tires. Directional. Solid call out
fr that was criminal. I'm surprised RUclips hasn't taken this down yet.
LOVE IT! ASMR for plastic unpacking, towel ripping, box opening, part cleaning, wiping, marking, careful part placement, torquing, - I NEEDED THIS Devin! ! Therapy!
Dude, I needed this. It's like a therapy, just silent, mechanical work.🤤
one of the best of Devins engine building. It could have been a lot longer for me, but the head was ready to install from the headshop.. only the missing lube on the oilfilter spooked me for a second, but then again some are prelubed and others work same without oil on em...
Did you put thread sealant/rtv on the bolt that goes through the mount bracket, it goes through a oil galley
That was a masterpiece and very relaxing thank you, I wasn't looking for any mistakes honestly I was just enjoying the build
I’m not gonna lie, I watched the whole thing but did anyone else wanted him talk In this video? 😂
Definitely 😂
For sure!😂
Yes😂😂
Probably everyone. We watch the channel for him and his projects. Asmr in my opinion is the worst thing ever to come to existence as RUclips content.
Nah, he already got so many engine building videos explaining everything, this one was relaxing🫡
I generally love the commentary but this is what I needed today 🔥🔥🔥
Just a man, and his machine 👌🏾
forgot to add rtv onto the threads of one of the bolts for timing belt idler/tensioner pulley mount that bolts to the block, one of the bolts threads is in the oil galley.
Glad to see it coming together! Enjoyed all of the sounds. Time to get her back together and move to the NSX build.
It’s amazing how stuff is created and every detail on how they work!
Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the mistake was rotating the crank while tightening the crank timing gear, without a timing belt, the engine is now not top dead center. 14:50 other than that beautiful video🤘🏼
I saw you apply Permatex around the wrong side of the dowel pin at exactly 10:00 but then quickly correct it :)
NO ONE SAW THAT 🤣

By far the best video ever.. cant wait to hear that first start for the boys🔥🔥🔥💯💯✌🏼✌🏼🫡🫡🥴🥴
Ima use this as my sleep background
I appreciate videos like this sometimes. This is what happens when you are building, thank you for making a video with the details that people can just look at as a how too. Might need another title to reflect what it is though IMO
come on! flip that shop towel 0:06 hahaha .... nice work bro 🔥🔥
yes RUclips, please recommend me more engine build/rebuild, i need it
I may be mistaken, but aren't certain bolts supposed to have sealant on them because of the way the coolant passages run through the block? I know you had to remove certain bolts and add sealant to them, the first time you built this engine.
Love the ASMR aspect of this video! Out of every other Automotive Channel I watch on RUclips, I always watch your videos first! Keep up the amazing work Devin!
IIRC only the exhaust manifold studs need rtv because of the oil passages.
I wonder if anyone actually commented the mistake. I was being all brain numb from how relaxing it was to watch I couldn't focus on any mistakes.
Put oil in the filter, helps with the initial start.
Awesome video! Only thing I picked up on was dropping the bolt at 16:03, but I would hardly call that a mistake.
Circlip on the piston, always have the open end on the 12 or 6 o’clock position. You installed it at 3 o’clock
I’d love to know why this is important
At high RPMs, I’ve heard that if the circlip opening is at three or 9 o’clock that it could compress the circlip enough to fall out. This has never happened to anyone I know but it does makes sense. Could just be a myth, but just incase, I always place the opening at 12 or 6.
@@Ryan-806 sounds more like an improperly installed clip than anything. I’ve never come across that min my work, or even in story form.
Perfect opening. We love the sounds
I could watch this every day!!
King engine bearings - pmax black
Proud that i was working on this project 😎
Can you imagine you're watching this for free?!
Keep going Devin
No lube on t oilfilter
It comes pre-lubed brother but good catch though.
No lube like anywhere lol! We shall see a rebuild coming soon!
@@JavierMartinez-wo8czwhat where?
@@JavierMartinez-wo8cz the oil filter comes pre-lubed that’s why it has that plastic wrap around the gasket ring.
@@JavierMartinez-wo8cz6:29 here is lube
You should take the micrometer tool from the gray part, which is a thermal insulator. If you take it from the metal part, you can vary the measurement due to the transfer of temperature to the tool.
thought I was the only one
Saw the whole thing . So relaxing.
I think the mistake is at 15:10. I mean, I would’ve measured the tolerance with all the teeth, not just the first one. Anyway, those were the most satisfying 17 minutes of my life.
Mistake. Yea, No Bobbi in the video!
Don't comment a lot on videos I watch, but this one was good! Could have been longer, in my opinion, but I love this build series and can't wait to see his car complete!
Best vid yet. Do more of these pls
When you just need a break from bs this is so nice and relaxing. thanks for such a great video!
I have looked in the comments to see who saw it but it seems no 1 has any idea about building engines he used a paint brush to apply lube u don't risk leaving a bristle no matter how soft it is 6.30 mins
☝️☝️☝️
There were a few mistakes. The PTW you measured was .0045, not .045. You put the pistons in backwards - the larger valve reliefs are for the intake valves, but they were installed on the exhaust side. You installed the oil pump front cover assembly with a missing dowel, there should be 2 to locate the gasket and cover properly. Didn't appear to put any ARP lube on the threads of the main studs, only the washers. Used too much silicone in a few places.
Just to add, driving the guides in the cylinder head with a hammer and no silicone on oil filter seal
Error might have been no silicone around the oil pump? Looked pretty spot on to me. Interesting u paint pen every torqued nut and bolt now
Oil pump housing doesn’t get any silicone
Nice vid. Not sure if you changed it or installed it off camera but the head cover gasket?
metal hammer for the head dowels and pulling the tensioner pin prior to rotating
Thank you algorithm for putting this craftmanship in recommendations
You didn't prefill the oil filter and lube it with oil so it can come out easily next time you take it off (did I guess it?)
I needed this therapy session today. Thank you, Devin! 🫡
I found the mistake. Not putting it in the car.
😂
“It ain’t got no engine in it”
Finally a real Engine Build asmr without background Music etc
Hoping the .045 ptw measurement was missin a zero, great vid tho.. Never really been an import fan so can honestly say you are the only channel we watch with these type of builds.. Cant help but respect the quality of your work and attention to detail..
The man was not joking when he said ASMR 😅. Very satisfying video to watch
I’m building a 6 bolt swapped 4g63. I will be watching this video as I’m building my engine in a few weeks.
I know nothing about engine building but this kind of video is really my cure for a peaceful lunch break. Although I didn't build any engine, my guess is that it's lacking of margin check either on the crackshaft inner part and the cam springs, but I only spotted that because I mainly watched building with used parts
When cleaning engine parts using regular coffee filters is the best. They are cheap and when they rip fibers don’t come off that could go into the engine.
I bet you're constantly thinking at night, "Did I forget to add sealant to a part or did I remember to torque a part or a certain spec"? I know I do.
I think that’s why he marked it, so he knows he torqued it
This was so satisfying watching the engine come together. In the electric car world that governments want to mandate this art would be gone. Thanks for the video Devin.
What a masterpiece! I love watching your builds.
even without music it is very satisfying
Amazing man! Bought an STI used and the motor blow only had it for a couple months but dealer said i bought it as is so im in the wrong $15000 for a new motor sucks but have people like you guys makimg thise great videos it helps out and i have no mechanical skills lol im a carpenter😅
This engine looks super simple to build. If there was a love button I’d press it.
14:11 am i crazy or did you leave the balancer on the oil pump?
14:15 this way, with the help of a hammer and a screwdriver, you can tighten the screw!!! I, like you, tightened and tightened the screw. and the cover of that strange screw was pressing - touching the head of the balancer screw (DELETE KIT BALANCER)! That's why he Delite Kit pressed, scratched the channel-bearings and destroyed my oil pump! and I kept having a scratching sound but I didn't know what it was until I tore the engine apart! I even have pictures if you want I can send them to you!
I haven't seen anything more beautiful and I enjoyed every second. Thanks for this video!
I think it would be cool to include the build sheet for these motors as well!
Maybe silence because of the frustration of the first built just focused on the engine and thats all she wrote 😮😂
The silent treatment all makes sense, Devin had already walked us through thee entire build in previous videos, so this time with no further interruptions we can sit back and watch the magic happen! This guy makes it look easy, true craftsmen.
Super clean. But I think I know what's the mistake. I'm not pretty sure, but I think you're supposed to check the piston rings gap in its specific cylinder where it should be, and it I think the piston ring should be put lower in the cylinder cause the way you're putting it might be even higher than TDC. Probably not required in most engines, but just guessing!
Please correct me if I'm wrong
Best video so far to be honest. Sounds over talk any day for me. Also the video quality was on point and way better than usual. I should know, I’m a videographer.
watching your video while enjoying my meals , what a blessing 😋
you tightened the lower part of the connecting rod when it wasn't on the crankshaft. I had a good laugh. Nice build :)
I can't wait to be this knowledgeable in cars one day and do stuff like this. Also to have money like this to do stuff like this 😊
Great work. Great attention to detail. I would have lubed the cam lobes completely but as long as it spins after everything is assembled, no worries. Great Job!
Hey man I really recommend using the OEM freeze plugs for the block/head, I had my head service with those aftermarket brass plugs and alot of them are failing after only a few thousand kms, OEM plugs sorted the issue.
you put the towels the wrong way around
I fell asleep to this, thank you
Respect to your craft and your years of experience I don’t want to be that guy that points out everything but my teacher from tech school always said to use a short sockets when it comes to assembling so you have a low change of stripping the bolts and you have more torque.
Not sure if this is necessary for the 4G63, but I would assume that the main-bearing cap nuts are torqued and then angled? Which I assumed wasn't angled because of the shot @ 10:21 The paint marker of the studs line still line up perfectly with the nuts.
Maybe it's to know that they're already tight
Now this is how it's done, don't talk about it, be about it 😊get it done
Fabrication/welding is a passion of mine 😆🥺,yet this is a dream job for me one day LORD willing 🙏
Amazing video. Loved every second. So detailed. Amazing camera skills.
Love the video, know how much work you put in this one! Mistake: Turning the engine whitout have the timing belt on, piston hit the valve?
I would buy this as a Lego set and display proudly in my house
I learned the hard way, never use a socket extension with a torque wrench. It F's up the torque if you're not **100%** perfectly plumb and level and you'll snap bolts. Wrench and socket, that's it!
Never knew I needed this in my life.
Also, I hate telescoping gages 2:24
That is a Honda K series engine. Strong and solid as Toyota’s JZ engines. Can handle a 1000 hp if built right. Correct me if i am wrong guys
It’s a 4g63 it can handle enormous amounts of power too👍🏾😉
as a mitsubushi lancer owner, this makes me proud.....that he can do this and im broke.
this is a amazing video, its too calming

so glad you didn't add music! 👍🏻
Just had a 4B11T built it cost a lot more in Australia but what a beast it is now worth every dollar
These are so perfect to watch please more!!!!
third times a charm on that piston ring eh? 😂
I have to say the only thing jumped out immediately to me was not pre filling the oil filter. I also would of thought the crank studs into the block may require lock tight?
Great video
Little mistakes
Did you just measure/grind all the piston rings by the circumference of the second cylinder?!? 😮 4:54
Not an engine builder, so I have no clue what the mistake was. Just dropping a comment to let you know how 🔥🔥🔥 this video was. For ASMR, having the mic next to the bores when you're doing the measurements would have been cool, but could just hear it as it was (mic down by the block).
15:54 timing belt is not tight inoghe + the RPM sensor should be clouse for about 2.5 MM , not less . outherwise everything looks perfect. LET ME KNOW IF IM MISTAKING
