For tennis elbow and still great performance and durability: Tecnifibre X-One Biphase (mains at 48 pounds) and Luxilon Alu Power at 45 pounds in crosses. Both 130 millimetres or 16 gauge. Got lots of power, feel, and control still and they last quite a long time. And I hit HARD. Thanks
My Gravity Tour with Element 1.25 @ 40 lbs is pretty confortable for me! Plenty spin, control and power on tap.
Tried the gut on the main and gamma professional on the cross. That was solid.
Technifibee x-one biphase on the cross with the gut on the main was also real nice and solid feel
Instead of switching to softer strings, I switched my racquet to Wilson clash with alu power, still super soft on your arm but a lot of power and spin
At what tension?
@@amirjon 22 kgs
Try Lux ALU Rough 17 at 52 lbs on your Clash. Its perfect.
Love Gamma Professional. I go with thinnest - 18 gauge. love it!!! i dont break it and I hit pretty darn hard. its just such a pleasure to play with.
I was full poly for awhile, had some tennis elbow. Switched to 16 gauge VS gut on the mains at 55 and Luxilon 4G Soft on the cross at 52 and no problems. Plays great too. The only negative is I break the gut in about 3-4 hours. Costly and I have tried to find a cheaper alternative, but nothing plays like gut.
I love this guy. His video are so in-depth and unpretentious - I normally never watch videos over 10 minutes in lenght, but his commentary is captivating. I heard that natural gut strings are avoided by rec players because of their liviliness, hence no the best option for a player like me (I am probably 3.5 to 4 player). Should I give it a go with natural guts? I really want the best experience on the court.
@ Milan....most club players don't use gut in either a hybrid or full bed because of the cost.
Sure if you don't want a lively string gut isn't the go....but most club players look for some liveliness. They don't hit like Roger (who hybridises with gut) or any other pro who definitely hit much harder than club players.
Polyfiber Evolution is very soft an easy on the arm with plenty of spin. Arm friendly strings don't have to be expensive.
havent tried that one, but almost all of Polyfibres use a lot of non-polyester, or the same other poly's additives that are used on co-poly's by other brands to soften the stiff polyester, as full or most of the string material. Polyethylene and Polyolefin come to mind. In short, Polyfibre is my go-to when I want to soften the stringbed at the same tension and keep the same advantages of spin and control by using poly.
Wish they were more available. TW is stopping carrying them sadly. Noticed more and more of their models getting off their page. Only one Black Venom left. and I wanted to find some reels of Hexablade. hidden gems
Great Channel, I watch you 4 times a week . I've been a stringer for 5 years since I turned 65. You have been really helpful and have confirmed my theory on hybrid for better arm friendly with good feel and power.
One area that would help me is in evaluating which string and what tension to use for someone 3.0 to 3.5 , usually 50-80 yeas old with oversize rackets (110 to 135 square inch heads). They tend to be lobbers and slicers too old to change.
I personally favorite use Klip legend 16 g natural gut mains 59-62lb with Tourn grit 17g or Volkl cyclone tour 17 for the crosses 55lbs. On a Wilson BLX 104.
Thanks,
Bob
Isn’t 59-62lb too high for arm? Thoughts?
Recently went to Wilson Natural Gut in the mains and Lux Element cross in my RF97A. Never going back to anything but NG hybrid from now on. Nothing feels like NG.
Ok just tried T-Fibre X1 Biphase in my 80s Pro Kennex Grahite comp ( grt racquet!) its UNREAL, strung to 45lbs ( despite stringers maddening adhesion to Mfgrs specs :( ) Im tellin ya its AWESOME! Pro Kennex has a grt history of arm friendly racquets, combined w/this string and a damper, i NEVER felt ANYthing on my arm/elbow....Gt power control n feel!
I read a long time ago that elbow problems are caused by bad technique and off center hits. Pros rarely have elbow problems and they hit harder than we do. With that said, Ive seen a few guys with amazing technique have elbow problems. I have great technique with no elbow problems and I use Alu at 53 pounds in a Pure Drive Roddick Plus.
Pros also have their rackets about 40g heavier than us and extremely head light
so true. im an indoor player. i started playing clay outdoors last week because weather in new england is getting better. not used to clay so i miss hit multiple times over 2 days. elbow started to hurt. so yeah definitely off center or framed hits are the cause of pain. never had this pain when i hit clean.
Everyone is different, and the equipment def impacts your body
Also a lot of pros are more injured than you think, but it’s their job so a lot of them are playing through it. Plus they have access to the best recourses to deal with it.
Tourna quasi synthetic armor 16g are the most comfortable even softer and plays great
Very honest advice, natural guts the best, it's pricey, but you wont regret it
Placed Babo Nat Gut at the main and LXN Element Num1 (125) at the crosses. Loving it, but as you said durability sacks and the strings cost $30+...and I don't make the Fed's money....
I once strung poly at 70 lbs . It was like hittin wit a board . No spin no power no nothing . I could play better wit a frying pan
lmaooo this has me dying 😂😂
I used Triax 17 @ 54 lbs on my new Pure Strike 16/19 and hurts my elbow. Hope to try one of the above strings.
Started using Hyper G at 52 lbs. Got sore elbow. Took said elbow about 4 months to settle itself down. Now stringing at 45 lbs. I’m primarily a flat hitter, so went back to NXT although I still have poly in 1 racket. The poly seems dead at the net compared to the NXT. I’ll use the racket with poly if I want to hit kick serves, or weird slice serves. Don’t really play singles anymore. Here in MI, it’s about 6 months indoor and 6 months outdoor. (Yay, fresh air). Don’t mind the winter though. It’s always 73,or whatever you want it at, indoors during the winter here in MI.🥶
I tried lxn smart and killed it already 2 times, it last 5-10 sessions for me , but they are good, 47 lbs , I’ll stick to them , super control and arm friendly, but I hit very hard, so the ball stays in at the baseline, exactly what I need, kick serve is amazing too
if you're getting tired and you are playing with a string you like, see if a thinner gauge helps too
It did for me! 👍
did gamma pro 17L w/a old Rod Laver Graphite at 42lbs INSANE! The feel power control n complete LACK of vibration is AMAZING! Thx man i owe u a coffe 4sure! Jim in NC
Future video idea - could you talk about the difference between stringers and what you would recommend (i.e. drop weight, manual crank, electronic). Enjoy the channel and just subscribed!
ok. I will out this on the list. Thank you for watching!
Polyfibre string are very comfortable. Try black venom rough, even at a full bed feel plush.
Твой POLYFIBRE нужно тянуть 18/17 кило!! НЕ БОЛЕЕ!! Тогда они будут комфортными!!🤣🌺🤣
Another discussion of arm friendly strings that doesn't mention Ashaway Monogut ZX or ZX Pro. Really surprises me. A full bed of this plays like a gut/poly hybrid. Stringing it in a hybrid plays a little stiffer, depending on what poly you use. Just make sure your stringer watches the video on the Ashaway website before stringing it.
Iso-Speed Control in mains, Iso-Speed Cream in the crosses 👌
or just Iso-speed cream 1.23 full bed
dunlop black widow is soft to me. but it doesn't last very long. tricky to string for some but manageable.
Best poly for tennis elbow, without any doubt is Yonex Poly tour Air.
So you've tried every single arm-friendly poly to confirm this?
Nick Byrd , everyone know it is impossible to try all strings in the world. All things considered I have tried all the ones in the video and at least 20 plus other poly strings. I had TE so I did a lot research, tests and got feedback from other ppl online, friends and customers from the the tennis shop I work. And I will keep trying new strings. No sarcasm necessary here dude.
I will give it a try
Nice recs, thx, I like hybrid setups, but gut on the longs doesn’t last long, so I get 75% there with gut on the shorts and poly on the long.
Tecnifibre X1 biphase full bed is the best when you have arm trouble it even works at higher tension. Strings like NXT are too mushy
So my daughter is a great junior. Ranked 44 in IL. She is 16 and plays the clash 100 with hyper g mains and wilson nat gut cross. 50 and 52. Thoughts and suggestions? Reverse it? I string for her. Great channel.
Try Head FXP 16g for the main and Wilson revolve 17g crosses. It's great a great hybrid for someone looking for softer feel
ТЫ ПОХОЖЕ ХОРОШИЕ ГИБРИДЫ НЕ ПРОБОВАЛ,МУЧАЧО!!🤣🌺🤣
LUX.ACE 118/ TF X-ONE 124- ВОТ ЭТО ГИБРИД ТАК ГИБРИД!! НЕДАРОМ ДЖОК ЕГО ЧАСТО ИСПОЛЬЗОВАЛ!!
I use Head FXP 16g mains / Wilson revolve 16g Black crosses, if you use 17g the multi will break too fast
Can u plz explain about recommended tension for the racket? Can I go lower than recommended tension? If I do, the racket will lose its potential that manufacturer expected? Or totally fine? Thx
You can absolutely go lower than the recommended tension on a racquet, whether it be modern or vintage. I personally string my LM Radical MP at 45 lbs, despite the recommended tension range being 52-62 lbs. In the end, it's just a matter of preference and if you feel that you would benefit from a lower tension, whether it be for a more comfortable hit or for the increase in power and spin. I would say it's worth a try, as long as it isn't too far removed from where you're used to stringing your frames.
These day I lowered it to 45lb from 50lb. And I like it more. But I was wondering why they said 50-60. Why not 35-60 lol.
To be fair, most players do tend to string between 45-60, so it's not like it's a weird range to give. I think it's just for those who don't know much about how tight their strings should be. That being said, you'd hope the stringer would know what tension range would benefit that player more than just some general guideline
I use Lux 4g soft. Great tension maintenance and spin. Strung at 51 lbs in all three of my Head Prestige Graphene Touch Tour racquets.
51 is too much...23kg is good for prestige
@@Bambotb 23kg is 50.7lbs=51lbs🤷♂️
Great video once again
a few things:
1. in your recent youtube on tennis elbow, the Tecnifibe X-One Bisphase 17 was in a black package - is it the same string just different wrapper?
2. Where is your store? what's the name of your store? - why don't you list it in your RUclips videos?
3. Looks like you do not reply to posts, when people like me ask questions. That would make your channel much better! Thanks!
1. Newest Packaging in X-One
2. Trying to keep my location under wraps during Stay at Home... Location will be disclosed next week in my bio when Stay at Home is Lifted.
3. You are right refer to number 2!
Теперь все струны TF в белой упакоффке!!🤣🌺🤣 Кроме некоторых бобин..
@@TennisSpin Thank you so much for replying to my questions. I love your site and your style. I now understand about not disclosing your location. I wish you were in my city cause I would buy my tennis supplies from you - after getting your advice! Keep up the good work you are doing - very helpful!
Excellent overview and advice. Thanks.
It would be helpful to see a video with the difference in tension between the main and crosses when stringing a tennis racket or maybe use the same tension all around.
In general crosses will be tighter when strung as it is just in the nature of the process for a two piece stringing. Also depends on your shape of racquet, for example Yonex frames due to its shape is recommended to lower the cross strings 2 lbs. Two different string types used in a hybrid is where you mostly see people vary tension. Also lowering the tension of the cross string that is slick will increase snapback if you want to generate a little more spin.
What would you say about low stiffness poly strings (aprox. bellow 190 lb/in) as volkl cyclone, v-torque tour, wilson revolve, etc.? I have some arm issues myself due to overtrainning and I could find some rest with those "low stiff" polys (luxilon element is also included in this list). Does the stiffness of the string material have something to do with arm issues or I was just lucky with those strings? Congrats for the great work in the channel btw!
Felipe- I’m not an expert, but in my experience, the stiffness of the string definitely plays a big part in it. If the strings are very stiff and they are at a high tension, the racket can feel like a wooden board when you hit.
Thanks for all excellent videos and reviews. Where is your store located?
I played tennis over 30 years, and i do agreed that strings make some difference when it comes to Tennis elbow, but i think, your ground stokes cause most of the problem, if you are not hitting them correctly. Resting is the best method, but i also heard from others that if you continue to play with a tennis elbow, it will soon go away.....( i don't think so ). Also, changing to a softer and less tension racket will help too.
What about a hybrid of natural gut and x-one biphase ? I’ve done that for years, what’s your opinion on this setup?
My daughter (going 13) suffered wrist pain with Babolat Pure Drive Lite, VS Touch 16 main at 54lbs, and RPM blast 18 cross at 52 lbs. After recovery, she is doing fine with Wilson Clash 100L, VS Touch 16 main at 48 lbs, and RPM blast 18 cross at 46 lbs. Babolat wrist band has been useful. Your advice on lower tension helped. I plan to test LXN smart 16 for cross.
RPM Blast is brutal on the arm. There are so many better choices for the poly hybrid. Hope she continues to do well.
The VS Gut Mains at lower tensions will always help. Smart will be great to try on the cross. Good luck!
НИФИГА У ТЕБЯ ДОЧА В 13 ЛЕТ НАТУРАЛКОЙ ИГРАЕТ!?? НЕ РАЗОРИШЬСЯ!?🤣🌺🤣
Please Kindly do a video on ( Wilson Clash 100 L ). Thank you.
Really useful video, keep it up
Do you carry Polyfibre strings? if not, you should, they are amongst the softests monofilaments out there. Some of their strings are made using other type of softer polyesters that are not stiff polyesters. Polyolefins, Polyethelyne come to mind. These are some of the additives other companies add to polyesters to soften them and call them co-poly, but as full string or most if it. TW tested some of them and their stiffness ratings came out as soft as some multifilaments! But you still get the advantage of spin and control from the poly, albeit, some models are very lively too coz of it. Im looking to get more, reels even, work amazing with small headsizes too.
I'd like to use a multi for the mains and a poly for the crosses.
Will Gamma tnt2 or Professional live wire last longer?
tried isospeed new professional, but it broke within an few hours.
Do the gamma multis have a slick surface? thank you
Wilson Blade v8 98 saved my elbow!
I can’t seem to find a set of Luxilon Ace anywhere online. I can only find reels, and I obviously don’t want to buy a reel just to test out a string. I don’t have a tennis shop near me that sells it unfortunately.
Ask your stringer or several stringers?
Just getting back to tennis . All my racquets were strung with Kevlar 16 mains and 17 synthetic crosses at 72lbs. Where do I even start now. I’ve played tnt and live wire in the past but with the 17g I break them in 3 to 4 hours. I hit a real heavy ball , but I’m fat and slow now so it’s a lot of attacking the net for cheap points.
Nice suggestions
I just can't get over the idea that I'm swinging cow parts so I don't go natural. What if I start to smell steak in the middle of my match? It's not like I'm a vegetarian and I know it's a stupid. Same issue with leather grip.
Harry is a secret weapon against insomnia
Wilson clash 100 tour with full bed RS New York 48 lbs. It would be a good idea to add soft poly on the crosses for more control and spin? Thank for the video
I play the Gravity Pro with full bed of Alu power @25/24kg so @55/53 lbs, no sign of tennis elbow :)
Alu soft never hurts my Arm. All other polys do
Great vídeo ! But ... you forgot the excellent Wilson NXT string on your list.
He's not a fan of it, as far as I can understand
No, he didn’t forget
I am 60 years old. Why do you recomend not to use W Clash 100, in a video? I have a little elbow problem. Thanks
Checkout his Clash video, he plays with one as well
I ruined my elbow with years of Luxilon Big banger 16g on a Pure Drive. Whenever I start to feel something in my elbow from my Hybrid (I string in the low 50's), I always switch to full-bed Head Rip Control 17g (Stiffness 138). The only multi for me that I can string in the 50's with no pain and has decent control. Also on sale for $5.50 right now.
Try Head Velocity if you haven't, I string in the low 50's and it's still got good control
Hi! What do you think of Wilson Revolve? Is it arm-friendly?
What is the name of the Gamma string? Professional 17?
I put championchoice on my Wilson RF97Autograph with my usual tension...
Natural gut mains 27kg
Alu Rough crosses 25.5 kg
And string savers on some places
My arm start to feel little pain ( muscle above the elbow) i think just because of high tension and luxilon... hm
Just pull off string savers... maybe things on string bed makes string bed less flexible...
Hm thinking to restring it with lover tension..
25/23
I would definitely go lower. Rf97 is also a smaller head. You could go at least to 23/22 kilos if you string polys
I use 17 or 18 gauge full poly on the RF97. Never go above 50 lbs. 48 long 46 cross. It's comfortable.
ALVIN D'EXPLORER
I play always with 27/25 or 26/24
BUT this time, i figureout what was reason that stringbed was stiff..... and my arm was on pain...fucking stringsavers??!!! I remove them, and everything start to behave normal again
I used string savers for the first time this moment...
And when i removed them, my arm stop to fell bad.
Back to track again
I'd love to give my arm a break with a GUT hybrid setup. But it's vulnerable and I play on clay, in mostly damp conditions. Where I live the air is moist all year round (I hate that!!). So I'm a little hesitant to go GUT. Especially now (november). I know that gut is coated nowadays but I also read that wears of pretty fast.
What to do?
im using 52 rpm blast poly full bed and have arm problems after playing it for 2 months with my pure drive. Now I swap racket with blade 98. need advise on tensions i string it with.
If i go
X1 biphase = main
Element = cross
or
Alu Power = cross
What would be my good starting tension to try with?
interesting. I had BAD Tennis Elbow playing RPM Blast strung @ 55. Surprised you didn't mention Babolat XCel...I see it mentioned on the tennis boards all the time. I went to Babolat XCel strung at 48~50 and have never had the tennis elbow return in 5 years of 2~3x / week of playing..
@alexandergoldman you string RPM blast at 55, that's probably why you got tennis elbow. If you strung it at 48/50, you probably wouldn't have had those issues.
I like the wilson pro staff 97 black racket. What are its specs?
Т.Е. ТЫ ХОЧЕШЬ СКАЗАТЬ ЧТО LUX. ELEMENT 125 И SMART 125 ЩАДЯЩИЕ ЛОКОТЬ СТРУНЫ??🤣🌺🤣
Pls suggest the hybrid and tension best suit for Gravity MP
Can I do Bi phase on the mains and luxilon smart on the cross? If yes, what tension will you recommend?
I can't get any spin with any type of hybrid. At same tension of 52, either full poly or full multi gets me much more noticeable spin. why?
I went into the lock down with a wrist pain. That made me pick up a Clash and I strung it up with Lux Smart at 40 pounds. It took several hits to get my stroke going but serving hurt.
Over a few more hits the pain faded away where I can serve without pain. The clash set up still feels harsh to me so I am looking for another string set up to get some plush / feel.
Thinking Gut in mains and Lux smart in crosses at 40#. Or maybe leave the poly out of it and go Gut mains and Tecnifibre crosses. Will that give me what I am looking for?
I switched to Clash with natural gut and love it. Played over 20 hours already and didn’t break a string yet
@@Tennisbull-match-statistics What tension you running?
48 - it dropped about 20% but is holding steady now

What is a good budget alternative for X-One? Same feel and characteristics? Thanks👍
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else is searching for how to treat tennis elbow naturally try Freds Elbow Helper (just google it ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my work buddy got cool success with it.
What about Isospeed control? It has help me with my elbow
I would love to use natural gut, but is very expensive for a string breaker.
Not if you buy Gut from this guy on EBay. Naturalgutwholesale. He is in Chula Vista Southern California and I’ve got quite a few strings from him and they are top notch. Most sets are 17.00/4.00 shipping check him out
@@Spellcheekswammablamma I've bought from him . I'm in Australia and it cost a lot to get them here by posy, more than the string cost. The first two lots broke when any tension was put on at the start of stringing, the third lot started to split half way through so my stringer, differentto the first two lots, had to ease off the tension. Both stringers said the product was sub standard.
Where do you see RPM power within this "elbow friendly" category?
Harsh
Tecnifibre TGV is the softest
TGV Далеко не самая мягкая струна!! X-One в том же диаметре мягле будет!🤣🌺🤣
what do you think about Dunlop Black Widow?
Yup....softer feeling poly!
I like Black Widow a lot. It is not fun to string but it's good!
how does triax compare to these strings?
Gut or technifibre
I want my Solinco racquet
What about shoulder friendly hahah :D
Is it any different
When I have struggled with shoulder pain in the past it was more due to the racquet. Static weight was too heavy for me when serving and both were stiff frames. (Pure Drive Roddick and RF97)
Thanks good analisys!

Is the Gamma Pro 17 as good as X-One Biphase? The same characteristics?
Q- Dragon gamma pro is a bit stiffer but more crisp.
Is crisp meaning lively, and muted feel is: not as lively? Is the gamma professional similar to Prince Premier Attack?
Thank's for this video. Solinco Confidential should be not consedered as arm friendly? Some one have an idea for this string? I have a little tennis elbow problem (causse essentialy by my profession) and i play with wilson clash and xone biphase 24k for the moment. I like this string but too thin, i break them too fast and in 1.34 i hate them (no spin). If someone have recomandation for arm friendly and spin friendly strings that should be great!
Luxilon big banger arm friendly? You must be joking. It's the hardest string in existence. They have metal wire in them
12:20 "These (X1 Biphase) are gonna break fast!".
Why does he say that? I use X1 Biphase Multifilament for the entire string bed and I never break.
What’s your thought on Technifibre NRG2 string?
Nrg2 played well but wore lightening fast. Bi-phase lasted longer than nrg2 but it was also low on durability. When I had elbow soreness I successfully used gut on the mains and bi phase x1 on the crosses. A less expensive arm friendly set up, I also used Prince lightening on the mains and sensation or biphase on the crosses.
@@bowsershark ... thank you for your feedback.
