Great video. Thank you. I strung this for my Mrs prior to Christmas and she loved it after coming from synthetic gut. I hurt my arm (TE) prior to Christmas and took a few off. It still stings a bit after I picked up a racquet again (using a poly hybrid). I picked up my wife's racquet with this string and loved it. You're right. You don't get the spin on it but I might have to live with it for a bit until it fully heals (hopefully). Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the great review - I also tried this string while recovering from a wrist injury (still am) after using polyester, and the difference was literally day and night (or Jekyll and Hyde) - it gave me tons of feel, control and comfort on a thicker gauge. Now I'm going to try a thinner one. I was actually smiling while using this string.
totally, and wrist injuries aren't just impact related but could just be flaws in our swings or form, or mistakes that we pay for - but still reducing impact will help greatly. Ton of performance from the thinner gauge here. Right there with you, hang in there, come back slow, be smart, let balls go, and heal up!

I hope to bring some value for any string head no matter what string is being reviewed, but this might be a good time to get into some hybrids so I can practice what I preach. Although I did play full bed soft poly last night for a match and it was worth it
I just bought a set and going to put it in my Head Prestige Youtek Mid (2012?) 93 sq inch model at 48 pounds full bed. I came back after not playing for 37 years (I was a pro at 20 and beat Agassi back then when he was 15), and I immediately got tennis elbow because I didn’t know about modern strings and the stringer put it stiff polys at 58 pounds. Ruined me. Until I figured it out. No I’m feeling better after playing with polys at 35 pounds (yup) and it was fine but no feel or power. I’m so excited to try these strings. I’ll update when I play with them. Thanks again, great video
Plenty of pros playing in the 30s in ~98 head size so you're good! Poly main/syn gut cross is what a lot of people go to if full bed is not the best choice. Welcome back!

Thank you so much and right back at you, amazing work on your channel! Byron Talbot was one of the first channels I started watching back years ago - got a little of that clean vibe from yours as well
Great to see you back, really interesting stuff. Extremely humble thought in case helpful: if you prepare slightly earlier and accelerate your strokes more smoothly right at the start of the stroke you may avoid getting the injury again. It looks just slightly into wrenching it about when rushed. Easy to comment on the rusty guy who is making videos for us, but in spirit of trying to help. :]

Another AWESOME review and so grad you are back on the courts! 🙌 Coming from an injury as well you sold me on this string. I might have you string my racket with this next time 👌
Lovely review man! Glad to see you hittin again! Would be great to see you review NRG2 and hear your words on how it compares to X-One and Sensation. I tend to love flexy frames and super comfy strings. Love your racket choice. That Ai98 must feel lovely. Still have to get my hands on one.
Thanks it's good to be hitting again! I also love the feel and comfort of flexy frames and soft strings, it takes a while to learn how to get control out of it but I think it's worth it. I found my recent ai98 on eBay for $65 us, looked almost brand new so definitely look there!
Definitely worth trying tecnifibre triax if your struggling with injury, a lot of poly qualities whilst being so much softer and arm friendly. Great video quality as always!
Been testing out Triax, it's impressive. It actually just feels like a multi to me which is great, for some reason I thought it would feel more like a poly.
@@EvokeTennis it’s for sure more multi than poly, but in my testing doesn’t have the usual multi draw backs such as lack of spin potential and being massively over powerful, sticking out of place etc. If they can make it with a slicker coating in the future to get a better SnapBack think they are on to a winner!
My forehand is very similar to yours, I am an eastern grip player (IDK if you are) but we both have that exaggerated pat the dog motion which activates our wrists. I am trying to rely LESS on that and increase my backswing so i can get more hip rotation and racket speed, I know its easy to flick the ball over and it looks so nice and clean but trying for a more complete swing will get more consistent pace.
I'm SW and that's a great idea to clean up the stroke by having a bigger backswing. Tommy haas has a smooth backswing to forward swing transition that can be helpful to visualize
Waiting for your next review, hopefully you try the WC fire stroke and if how it compares to hyper-g because I want orange not green. Anyway, hopefully you are fully recovered now.
Will have to try it soon! Just tried Hyper g again then just put in PTP to see how that goes. Fully recovered, thank you - just always have to be careful with my wrist and maybe let a few balls go from time to time!
Hey dude, I switched to polyester, iso speed black fire at 50 lbs. It has very muted/dead feel but it is very controllable and comfortable. It's a bit old school, but I am notorious to be a string breaker. So I think u should try it, and I think head velocity or pps would go well with this.
Lovely video man! And glad you are healthy and had that win! I just played tennis after the covid stop for 4 months. Man my racquet felt sluggish. Would love to hear your thoughts on which is more pillowy soft? Nxt Nxt Power X1 Biphase Klip Legend Gut
Thank you sir, it's always tough getting back into things I think we are all going through it here! Out of those that I have personal experience with I give the softness advantage to x-1 biphase, where klip legend can be known to have a crispness because it's usually strung at higher tensions. The klip will maintain its natural stretchy feel longer though. I would say Klip if you need to leave it in for a long time just has more of a longer break in period
You just got another sub! I really enjoy watching your videos and you're doing a great job with editing and reviews. I found your channel through the Yonex Poly Tour Pro strings review that I currently use. I was surprised by how many things I found out from that video because my Yonex Dr 100 with those strings has definitely had too much tension as it felt really stiff (Set up at 25kg!!). I have a spare set of those strings so I'm gonna get them set at 20kg as you recommended. Thanks a lot!!!
I’m glad you found that one useful, I personally found good comfort at lower tension - just have to restring often that’s the key! So glad you have you here as a string lover and thanks for following along! 🤘🙌
I see what you are saying I am wrapping around low. I think that's also a result of the pronounced windshield wiper motion as the racket goes back down. But probably means too much wiper and lack of complete torso rotation. Thanks for the look!
After watching the video and reading the comments below I am sure my elbow hurt is because of tennis training often with upgraded polyester string from synthetic gut not from planting tree at my backyard.
@@EvokeTennis I would suggest 18g for cyclone, and specifically the black version. For whatever reason I can't explain, the stiffness rating actually increases for this string when you go from 18 to 18L and then 19. With your type of serve, with 18g, you'll see that ball kicking up over peoples' heads.
Huh, I was rewatching your Poly Tour Spin G review after a friend got her racquet strung with it and just thinking it had been a while, then a few hours later, new video. Funny how that works out. Would you consider this a possible budget alternative to natural gut for hybrid setups?
That's funny I also rewatch them from time to time to recall certain features! I would say so yes, without diving into the slickness numbers or tests it sure seems like it would do good. Keep checking back in these comments because I have a feeling people will chime in on their setups
You should seriously review the Volkl V square strings, the spin potential is 11.3 which is absolutely insane, especially when you compare it to the tour bite spin potential which is 6.7
Wow it's hard to imagine something with more spin than Tour Bite! But seriously heard good things about v square and will have to look more into it - thank you for recommending!
Hi what's the best string size , brand , for a intermediate, 45yr old with slight tennis elbow . I do have plenty of power though and weight to back it up😂 thx 🙏
Lasted only 5 hours ?! I use the 17 gauge Bi-Phase. I never break strings. 4.0 level and hit very flat. The strings have been on for 4 months and it still plays great. The strings are frayed but it does not spray long. Not at all. Power, control and comfort. Actually plays better now than 4 months ago.
I find the jump from 17 to 18 usually lasts half as long. Flat hitting may help extend the life a bit. Glad to hear you’re getting some good time out of it, great string
Getting an Ezone 100 but I'm stuck between this in 16 gauge at 55lbs or polytourpro 125 at 49lbs or a hybrid of the 2. I demo'd the racquet with tour pro at 53lbs. I work in a pro shop for all racquet sports so know everything there is to know but I'm only worried I shouldn't go with poly since I'm a beginner. I'm a badminton player so I'd say I'm a strong beginner but my form isn't perfect and loved polytour pro on it but worried I shouldn't use it until I have proper technique. I plan on getting some lessons this winter. I'm 20 and don't want to mess up my elbow
You’re definitely in the right mindset and that’s a good thing! I would go with this at 55 because it will be so much more forgiving to off center and late hits that happen more frequently with a beginner. It will play better for longer than PTP which will lose its best qualities quickly. But no worries, down the road you can always start experimenting with it as a hybrid and see how that goes. X-one is a very capable and great feeling string that won’t limit you so it’s not like you’re missing the train or anything. I play with all sorts of poly but just love playing with multi too - you can hit huge with it!
Very nice it was a racket I put away for a long time because I never quite got a feel for it. But then I wanted more comfort and just starting playing with it everyday and finally got used to it. Haven't tried anything since!
You nailed it! went undefeated singles this season USTA 4.0, but it wasn't ever easy. Eyeing trying some 4.5 next season but have a ton of work to do on net play and getting more consistency on mid court and short put aways
You have the best videos I have ever seen! I have the same racket as you, Yonex ai98. I have tried the YPTP 1.25, but it is too low-powered. Can you recommend me a good polyester with also spin potential? Thank you!
Thank you, hearing that totally made my day and glad you like em. Wondering what tension you are going with? Out of the ones I've tried so far, hyper g and yptp were the higher powered ones but that was in 1.20 and 43 lbs, so definitely some more power to be had there. Tb Soft has big power but it's a special kind of feel in this racket most people would prefer more control.
Great stuff! Wow 18 gauge on a string like that must have been super comfortable. The downside is that it wears out/breaks super fast. Did yours break after those 5 hours?
Thank you! Yes it is listed as one of the softer strings in the TW string stiffness tool and it delivered on that, then the 18g made up for the performance. Yes the center main did snap after 5 hours of good hitting, I think it could last longer depending on strokes and play style because I did a ton of just hitting. Could be a great hybrid too
About your USTA match, and congratulations on wining that; What string and tension did you decide to go with on that match? not sure if you mentioned that.
Thanks sir I went with my match setup of TB Soft 18 gauge at 43 lbs, still had to be careful with my form but it provides some room for error. With the hot weather I ended up adjusting that up to 45 lbs for the next couple matches to slightly gain back some control because I spent so much time inside the court getting short balls during those matches. I play two matches with that setup then restring, totally worth it
Just got these, one 17 and another 18 gauge. I'm going to string one stick on a full bed of 18 and second one with volkl cyclone in cross and the 17 gauge in mains on my head prestige graphene touch mp racquets. If any one needs more details on it, hmu
@@EvokeTennis I didn't like the setup :( the volkl dug deep into the xone and was not a good setup for me since there was no string movement at all. I'm currently using the xone biphase 16 but it frays a lot. Might try nrg2 again.
Hi, How could you tell it was done after 5 hours? I'm playing a similar setup after an injury although I hybrid'd it with Solinco tour bite soft (I've no idea what I'm doing mind). Thanks from London, u k
This one snapped right in the center main string (full bed), not to say it couldn't last a lot longer than that for many people or even me if tried again, but that's what I got out of it this time! Very nice I play with TB Soft as well so I think you have the right idea keeping it on the softer side to play it safe!
Yo stick 2020 hit hard but hanging in there thank you. Have vids in the works but they got stalled by some big non tennis projects. Vacation stringing business has really picked up recently and good things are happening! Hope all is well
Curious about those clay courts you play on, recently I just found out that some clay courts are actually just ground up red brick on top of layers of gravel and lime stone. Do you know what type of material you playing on? Just curious ..... Great videos I enjoy watching I am new to tennis and recently bought a stringer and I recently strung up with Gamma Moto 17 its like a neon green sounded tinny at first game then that mellowed out and I kind of like it compared to Vokle Cyclone. Just thought I would mention it if you wanted to try something different. I have no idea if its quality or not its fairly cheap in cost.
_R_ very cool never heard that about the brick. Around here it is all Har-Tru which is a brand of clay court, blue green in color. You can become certified by them etc there’s a whole science on how it works. These courts can get dusty at times in the hottest days and need a lot of watering, but can also take an incredible amount of water and be fine to play on after it rains etc. thanks for the heads up on the strings and enjoy that stringer of yours!
@@EvokeTennis Hey Thanks for letting me know I have 2 stringing machines and work at a tennis shop but I am giving one machine to my sister and her boyfriend who have moved out and are both big string breakers, and the other is a machine for my dad college team Grand Canyon University and has to take the machine back soon so in the market for a new machine for home as I don't always have the time to string my racquets at work.
You mentioned feedback on your playing, so I'll keep it simple - you need an actual topspin backhand, either one handed or two, doesn't matter which! Your forehand is pretty good but your backhand provides you with 0 offense, and your slice tends to pop the ball up too much, giving your opponent the opportunity to step in and dictate the point.
So true thank you, I lost my two hander and never tried to get it back, just started slicing. The funny thing about it even though its a bad stroke is my opponents talk about it like it's my biggest weapon and they have so much trouble dealing with it - so I actually lay into it to win matches!
@@EvokeTennis I think they're responding that way because (from what i can tell on video) your backhand gives them a lot of inconsistent junk balls. But if you face an opponent with good footwork they'll see those short balls and take the opportunity to dictate the point. Good luck on your tennis journey, keep making solid string reviews and I'll keep watching :).
It is never a good idea to use multis lower than 17 gauge in racquets with over 320 of Swingweight. The durability should be comparable to Sensation at the same gauge. In multi world thicker gauge equals durability.
interesting that's the first time I've heard that about the 320. Can you explain more? A lower 300 sw could be swung faster and equal the same amount of total force as a higher weight racket at a slower swing speed. And the higher swing speed could create more string sliding and more wear, no? Thanks
@@EvokeTennis Hi man!, love your videos by the way. Now to your answer, you actually make very good points: 1. "A lower 300 sw could be swung faster": correct, but this ratio is not proportional, because you have to consider there is a limit of how fast you can actually swing, especially if you don't have the weight + the balance to help you out. You can feel this when you play at sea level and then you play at say 2.000 meters above sea level (Bogota, Colombia for example), there you can "feel" the difference between air density and how it limits how fast can you swing. At lower air density you will be able to swing much, much faster (with the same racquet and strings) 2. "higher weight racket at a slower swing speed": this is not exactly true, because you are missing the balance variable, what you actually "feel" when you swing a racquet is balance of weight of the racquet or, better expressed, how the weight of the racquet is longitudinally distributed. If you compare your AI98 vs a head IG Rad Pro (of 2012) you will understand the “feel” difference. Both have very similar specs broadly speaking, but noticeable difference in balance. 3. “And the higher swing speed could create more string sliding and more wear, no?”: again you are spot on, but missing some key variables: string-to-string friction and string-to-ball friction. Higher swing speed generally mean more string sliding and consequentially more wear (that’s why Nadal uses 15L rpm Blast), but you would be amazed how especially string-to-string friction limits this. So in the end is a combination of swing speed and string-to-string friction mostly, and a little influence of the string-to-ball friction. That is why slick polys have very good spin potential. Do a cheap experiment: try the cheapest most spin friendly multi around: tecnifibre multi-feel 16g black (gauge and color matter) you will be amazed by the spin (another good one is Prince premier control), and the key there is that the string-to-string friction is one of the lowest of the multi world, consequently despite being 16g I bet you it will last as little as the X-ONE Biphase 18g, being the “exception to the rule” in my first post. Sorry for the long reply.
@@jlparcerisa very good information you have provided for others here, thank you! I clearly have some more research to do to fully grasp how all the variables work together.
Hey man, nice your back.Try a nice multi in the means and a twisted poly in the crosses.I am doing it now the cheap Champions choice 😉👍👍best of all worlds i believe 🤌🫰👌😎💪👈🫵

You should try finishing over your shoulder on your forehand. Also if you can try hitting topspin backhands or develop a topspin backhand. :)
I see what you are saying I am wrapping around low. I think that's also a result of the pronounced windshield wiper motion as the racket goes back down. But probably means too much wiper and lack of complete torso rotation. Thanks for the look!
Welcome back!!
Hooligan1050Ryder let’s do this
After watching the video and reading the comments below I am sure my elbow hurt is because of tennis training often with upgraded polyester string from synthetic gut not from planting tree at my backyard.
Yes we often blame other things! For me I blame the leaf blower 😆
Dude, you should review volkl cyclone. It’s the only string that gives hyper g a run for its money.
yourbedroompunk just looked it up, it’s cheap and comes in 19g, nice!
Great review. Do these feel like there is more ball pocketing than polys?
Definitely, that’s the best part about playing with a multi!
@@EvokeTennis Awesome can’t wait to string it up! Appreciate the info!
I use the Yonex exone Ai98 too please can u do a video on your thoughts about it or other rackets u used?
Very nice it was a racket I put away for a long time because I never quite got a feel for it. But then I wanted more comfort and just starting playing with it everyday and finally got used to it. Haven't tried anything since!
Can you review Head Velocity or Babolat Xcel? I'm used to polys but it's giving me tennis elbow, so I'd like to know your thoughts with these. :)
Planning on trying Velocity soon. Triax is worth looking at because it feels like a multi and never stiffened up.
yes!!!!!!! he's back!!!!!!!!
yourbedroompunk 🤘 sorry for the hiatus!
I been waiting for this video for like 3 days lol
david tran 3 months 😂😂
Footwork is lively and intense. Forehand can be made more compact, gets a little wild sometimes. What's your USTA ntrp rating or utr?
You nailed it! went undefeated singles this season USTA 4.0, but it wasn't ever easy. Eyeing trying some 4.5 next season but have a ton of work to do on net play and getting more consistency on mid court and short put aways
@@EvokeTennis I wish you success in your journey towards tennis Valhalla.
Vacation Tennis Thanks, buddy! 50lbs was the tension.
I play two matches with that setup then restring, totally worth it
@@EvokeTennis Need to get you on to Volkl Cyclone 18g black. Amazing pop, feel, control and easy on the shoulder, elbow, and most importantly wrist!
I use 80 tension good control decent power I recommend
Just got these, one 17 and another 18 gauge. I'm going to string one stick on a full bed of 18 and second one with volkl cyclone in cross and the 17 gauge in mains on my head prestige graphene touch mp racquets. If any one needs more details on it, hmu
Would like to hear how many hours you get out of the hybrid, been searching for a durable multi
@@EvokeTennis I didn't like the setup :( the volkl dug deep into the xone and was not a good setup for me since there was no string movement at all. I'm currently using the xone biphase 16 but it frays a lot. Might try nrg2 again.
Please review the Head Synthetic gut pps !
Thanks for the tip, I don't get too many request for syn gut so this is a great idea!
You got to upload again, Mark Sansait is coming for your channel and editing skills
haha lets goooooo. Getting back on it soon
Need some new content soon, hope all is well!
Just popped the cyclone the other day, was sad to see it go 😢
Hi, How could you tell it was done after 5 hours?
I'm playing a similar setup after an injury although I hybrid'd it with Solinco tour bite soft (I've no idea what I'm doing mind).
Thanks from London, u k
This one snapped right in the center main string (full bed), not to say it couldn't last a lot longer than that for many people or even me if tried again, but that's what I got out of it this time! Very nice I play with TB Soft as well so I think you have the right idea keeping it on the softer side to play it safe!
Welcome back,
Comment, get ready sooner, shuffle to the ball a bit more, overall, okay start
alright very nice tip, yes my feet have felt like concrete - stuck to the ground and hard to move! Thanks for the support
Also work on the coil for ur legs when you serve
david tran knee bend or torso coil?
We need more content! What happened, are you ok?
Yo stick 2020 hit hard but hanging in there thank you. Have vids in the works but they got stalled by some big non tennis projects. Vacation stringing business has really picked up recently and good things are happening! Hope all is well
Many top pros hybrid with natural. Xone is good enough. Paired with a stiff poly (yonex poly tour/rpm etc) nothing better
frank mancuso will have to try it, maybe a good way back into poly!
Great forehand finishing! #govegan #compassion
Thank you 🤘
What's the best multi you ever tried?
david tran this one for comfort, I was going to test it alongside nxt to compare but I’ll do that separately
what stringing machine do you have
Baldmethhead Neos 1000, it’s the Honda Accord of machines it just keeps going
Definitely try Poly tour Strike by Yonex!
Sounds good, trying to remember where it fits in vs PTP and PTSG
Your serve can be alot better if you slow it down and see if your form is perfect or not because I'm seeing some flaws
True, I'll try to get some slo mo at some point, but def seeing some flaws for sure!
Now to your answer, you actually make very good points:
1. At lower air density you will be able to swing much, much faster (with the same racquet and strings)
I clearly have some more research to do to fully grasp how all the variables work together.
do triax
Someone sent me a set of Triax, can't wait to string it up!
Water those courts!
I hate those har-tru courts they’re so annoying to play on
Hey man, nice your back.Try a nice multi in the means and a twisted poly in the crosses.I am doing it now the cheap Champions choice 😉👍👍best of all worlds i believe 🤌🫰👌😎💪👈🫵
