- Butterfly Guard Concepts You're Not Using (But You Should) //
Butterfly Guard is one of the most utilized guards in nogi jiu-jitsu. Some of the biggest names in the history of the game are known for their butterfly guard (i.e Marcelo Garcia, Gordon Ryan) - In this video I go over some concepts that I use when I play butterfly and that you can add to your game and apply right away to become a better butterfly guard player.

I really like more open, conceptual or broad info like this. It’s much easier to retain than a long list of precise details. Memorization trips me up, as opposed to bigger movements that are reactionary or inciting reactions. Thanks!
I agree. Concepts are a huge tool for your development
Check out Kit Dale
Awesome details/sequence. It can be easy to get stuck sitting back. Important to remember to heist and keep the opponent guessing.
Yes sir. Overwhelm their system through constant pressure and create an opening.
This is exactly what I was struggling with. Thank you.
Same here
Excellent. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏🏽 from Canada 🇨🇦

Giancarlo has very nice eyelashes.
how you deal from butterfly with people they don't let you get any grips or drags, and they frame super hard,and they are super defensive;
You can take double sleeve grips and work for lasso/spider sweeps
There sleeves are almost always available. If they are posturing up so much and hiding their hands (i.e not engaging) you can work on wrestling up with be the next best option. If you don't sweep from the wrestle up you can use it to take the grip you'd like
I also forgot this video was NoGi so obviously the sleeve grips wouldn't be an option so I'd recommend learning to wrestle up
Push pull if you want to pull somebody out start with a push first
Just stand up
