  • 5 MUST KNOW Sweeps From Closed Guard //
In this video I go over what I believe are 5 Fundamental but extremely important sweeps to know if you want to have a good closed guard. Closed guard is one of the first positions you will learn in BJJ but it can be extremely effective at a high level - a great example of this is Roger Gracie. Closed guard was one of my best weapons in competition, if you want to learn a more in depth systematic approach to closed guard check out my instructional here: bjjfanatics.co...

    0:40 Hip Bump sweep
    3:53 Scissor sweep
7:36 Pendulum sweep (works well when unable to finish an armbar/triangle)
11:55 Overhead sweep (good for when someone is standing up but his head is still horizontal)
13:36 Muscle sweep (good for when the opponent already has vertical posture when standing up)
    Thank you sir!

I really don't get why this channel is so underrated. Giancarlo delivers with every single video, breaking stuff down to the very basics while also explaining the reasoning behind all of it. As a whitebelt I try to understand at least the basic moves I learn on a more fundamental level to avoid building bad habits and your videos are one of the best sources out there! Thank you a lot for that!

Channel must have time and consistency to grow. Give Giancarlo time, support the video, like subscribe, share and he will go to the tippity-top. And it’s just a beginning.

Over saturation of tutorials on RUclips and barley anyone knows who Giancarlo is. The reality is a lot of people that train Bjj don’t even know who Gordon Ryan is. Being known in Bjj is a very niche thing.

So few still teach closed guard techniques in RUclips. And coming from an ADCC champ as well., this is gold! Thankyou for this sir!

Thank you Giancarlo! After studying Roger, could you please discuss some details on how he makes his closed guard 1000x more effective than most others?

    Thank you for the details.
One question: is there a slight danger to the uke's knee during the muscle sweep? If so, is there a way to mitigate this?
    Thanks again.
