Windows defender is a free anti malware software which is included in Windows 10. Let see how to turn on or turn off windows defender in winodws 10.
1. Press "Windows" and "R" button to open the run dialog box.
2. Type "gpedit.msc" and then hit the enter button to open group policy editor.
3. Expand "Computer configuration".
4. Expand "Administrative Templates".
5. Expand "Windows components".
6. Select "Windows Defender".
7. Double click on "Turn off Windows Defender".
8. Select "Enable" or "Not configured" to turn on "Windows defender".
9. Select "Disable" to turn off Windows defender".
10. Click on "Apply" and then on "OK".

Thanks for the video, I still have issues though. Already disabled it using this method but still when I install daemon Windows defender automatically removes the activator. It's still working even though the state shows disabled. Do you have any workaround for this.?

I'm pretty sure "Group Policy Editor" isn't even on windows 8.1 but I know you don't care based on your wall of tags in the description, I usually don't do this but I have been trying for 3 days because there is always 1 person with the correct answer, maybe I am wrong but you know what, even if I am at least I don't try to maximise my appearances in the first page of a search by putting every possible search term for that problem in the description only to increase results by putting "8, 8.1 and 10" in the title.

Yeah I've been trying for days, i cannot turn off my windows defender, I am on Windows Surface Laptop RT 8.1, have you found how to turn it off? Hopefully there is a solution I'm starting to give up hope on this pc.
