Just a heads up that I was wrong about a detail in this video. The method works great but I stated in the video that it works on every version of Windows and I don't think that's the case.
There were lots of comments from people who it didn't work for. After talking to those people it turns out the old method still works. The old method is simply disabling secure boot.
It looks like if your using 22H2 this method works but if your using 21H2 this method doesn't work but simply disabling secureboot does.
Hopefully this didn't cause anyone issues. If it did, I'm sorry.
unrelated question. Should I upgrade to win 11?
Would Windows S mode allow you to change the registry entry via a .reg file?
@@xerravon it's up to you. It's not as bad as it was but I'm still using Windows 10 on my system.
@@johnrule1607 no, a reg file still needs to use regedit to apply it to the registry.
@@CyberCPU Thanks, yeah I just was hoping for some opinions. Its supposed to be faster but, like you I will not be forced to sign into windows account. thanks again for the video, I learned some new stuff😎
It's crazy that we have to fight this hard to keep our machines ours. Keep working to find these workarounds, it's very appreciated!
Thank you for this. I work in IT so naturally I'm on the hook for the family's tech questions. My little sister needed a laptop for school so my parents asked me for a recommendation. I was not aware that the laptop I recommended was using S-Mode so I spent about an hour Christmas morning trying to get it out of S-Mode, but none of the online guides I found worked, so this is a great tip. Thanks.
Man, you saved me from a very long night at work. A customer bought an HP 14 and to our surprise, S mode was turned on, naturally I disabled secure boot but S mode was kept on by Windows. I tried everything I've learned for the past 20 years and got frustrated, that was until came across your video searching for a solution 😅
I really appreciate what you did here, such a relief 😮💨
It pisses all us older computer nerds off bro, your not alone
I was actually looking how to re-enable S-Mode for my older clients that always install malware. Thanks, this is very useful both ways.
Damn, that's incredible!!!
I just wish I had this knowledge about 2 months ago. I had a relative that bought a cheap HP laptop from Walmart with S-mode and he wanted me to install Office 2016 (since he didn't want to pay a monthly subscription fee). It wouldn't even let me use the old official Office 2016 installer, and eventually I told him I couldn't help. He ended up returning it and buying Chromebook instead. This "S-Mode" BS is a new level of evil from Microsoft.
That's good logic. relative can't install what they want on the first locked-down system so exchange it for one that is equally restrictive.
Another easy work around is to reinstall using a launch day (2015) Windows 10 CD/USB, they're also backed up on the same website as the wayback machine if you need to download an older version of Windows 10 like that one
I wish I'd had that knowledge 3 months ago. I bought an Acer laptop from Amazon Germany without even knowing that such a thing as S-mode exists. That thing didn't do anything I wanted, but it let me use Bing and access Google, so I found the information I needed to install my good friends Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, the VLC player, and some more. Hadn't I been working with computers for so many years, I would have returned the machine, or requested help from an expert.
" This "S-Mode" BS is a new level of evil from Microsoft."
Preach it brother! I think it's almost an unfair trade practice. Now we know were Microsoft is going with this!
@@My_Old_YT_Account HAHAHAA NO WIn 7. always better
At first it didn't work for the 22H2, then I disabled the secureboot and still nothing, but then I redid the steps for 22H2 and it worked like a charm. So having the secureboot off did make a diference, because before that there was no 1 that could be changed to 0, because it already was 0. Thank you so much for this video. I personally am still sticking to Win10 for my own reasons, but this definitely showed me not to install it ever. To be honest not just this, but also the whole setting up part and other things. They're really trying to have a firm grip on us all.
This is my issue how did you disable the securboot?
Thank you like your case it didn't work until I disabled the secureboot. Do I need to enabled it back?
@@jm-vn3ih For the particular machine I left it off, but in my understanding secure boot is meant to protect the system from malicious code launch during system startup (malware). I think secure boot can be turned back on, since it was only necessary to make a system change, but it will not impact anything else.
Thank you mate. I disabled secure boot now works like new❤
Disabling secure boot did the trick for me as well 🎉 thx
I discovered your channel a few days ago, and instantly subscribed, you explain things really well, always joyful, you don't overdo it, I like that a lot! RUclips needs more people like you! Cheers~
FOR ANYONE NEW: You'll also need to disable Secure Boot in the UEFI settings after changing the registry key in order for this method to work now.
You can access the UEFI settings from the Recovery Troubleshoot Menu shown in the video. After doing this, restart into Windows 11 and confirm that S Mode is indeed disabled. Then, go back to the UEFI settings and activate Secure Boot again. Restart into Windows 11 and you should still have S Mode disabled. :)
I followed the instructions in the video over 100 times, searched thousands of times, and even sought help from ChatGPT, but nothing worked. However, in the end, a single option that you mentioned in your comment fixed my issue. I was exhausted from searching, but a RUclips comment helped me. Thank you so much. I wish you a happy and prosperous life.
YOU ARE A SAINT!
bro, I wish I could give you a cake.
This stupid s mode, I just can't deactivated it. For some reason my MS store just refused to load even if i have internet connection, already update everything.
This simple solution from you works, this comment need to be pin.
Appreciate this, it just worked for me. The push and pull against consumers continues.
THIS COMMENT SHOULD BE PINNED. Took me a while to figure it out but THANK GOD I STUMBLE INTO THIS COMMENT.
When I purchased a new Win 11 PC last month, if I found it was in S mode, I would have A: tossed it out the window or B: returned it to place of purchase. Maybe I'm just older and grumpier, but I'm real tired of dicking around with "new" Windows systems. I can remember being excited about a new version. That excitement ended decades ago. 📴
You are the "man"! Thanks for showing us how to disable S mode.
Ive come across a few of your videos before, and im impressed by your determination to give Micro$hit the middle finger. Keep it up!
As an office max worker thank you for this amazing guide! we have older clients who still don’t have internet access and with all of this it’s extremely hard to set up their PCs
Keep releasing the amazing videos! As a teen wanting to work in I.T when I grow up, your videos are a real inspiration to me and my new hobby of trying to make videos!
Keep it up! It's a very lucrative field for people with the patience to learn it. And starting young you'll have plenty of time to advance your career. What's more you really don't need to go to college either. Work experience trumps everything else. If you start out working the servicedesk for a few years it'll give you the experience you need to sell yourself and your skills.
I went to community college, majored in Computer Science, but never finished my degree. Now I've got student loan debt and I haven't even needed a degree to work in IT. Don't get me wrong, college is a good route for some careers. Or if you want to get a formal education for personal edification. I think there is still a real value there. But way too many people take on student debt just to have a piece of paper in an oversaturated field that doesn't get them a great job. In IT there are a few places where a degree will help you move up. But I wouldn't say it's required. Most places are looking for experience above all.
A few things that can help you land a great job, put your relevant hobbies and projects on your resume/CV. Not just random hobbies, but if you wrote a program, if you did a cool tech related project, if you coded an app, put that on your resume! If it's something that could be translated into your work in the IT workplace, put it on the resume. Then once you've got the number of years experience to back you up, no one will be asking about your college degree.
Excellent video. I only needed the first minute as I'm on Windows 10 so your old workaround fixed the issue. I've been stuck in that Microsoft store with a "working on it..." message for hours. Thank you - I no longer need to boot up a second laptop to run my CCTV - Subscribed!
Glad it helped
I had to subscribe to your page!!! I do WFH work and I often have to help people understand why they can't download our product. I got stuck and didn't know but did have an idea that it was a system setup. So this morning I went searching and found your video. Now I can speak with confidence and know how to find out if they have there Windows in SMode and what it would take for them to change it. Bless You!!
Thankyou CyberTech. I bought a new laptop and Windows wouldn't let me download any apps that weren't in the MS store. You are brilliant. I am wanting to remove edge and bing too and these videos are great. I slowly went through your video and now feel ready to accomplish anything. I am so peeved with MS butting in our lives. I thank you for your brilliant explanations and easy steps.
9:59 A better way to do this would be with Applocker, which is a application restriction feature in Windows Enterprise, LTSC and i think Education.
It used to be in the Pro versions of Windows 10, but Microsoft removed it at some point.
It's actually really powerful and thorough, wish they kept it on Pro since it's not just useful for only organizations...
However, i heard on newer builds of Windows 10 and 11 Pro, they brought back Applocker, which you can control through gpedit.
However, be careful how you configure it, you can basically lock yourself out of using basic programs of Windows properly if you configure it incorrectly.
If it's not ion every version, then it's not a better way.

I read this on reddit but didnt tell you about chaging from X: to C: nor unloading the hive, i was 4 fricking hours trying to troubleshoot s mode.

I still use Office 2000 because everything works. Every program loads instantly, saved files are small, and I don't have every single stupid feature trying to help me. do every single process. This latest mess with Pain 11 just makes me glad I have an OEM of win 10 which I am sure they will force into sunsetting early. I hope they don't try to hurt the people who try to "Fix" this new OS. But you're right, if we give in, they will just start making everything into dumb terminals
Office 2007 is the Last 1 I'd Use.

THANK YOU!!! setting up a new laptop for resale and didn't realize it had windows 11 s mode. workaround worked GREAT
I'm surprised S Mode hasn't earned Microsoft another Anti Trust case like when they had Internet explorer on every windows install.
It only comes on extremely cheap PCs like the ones you pick up at Walmart. So I don't think enough people are annoyed with it to make it as big of a deal.
@@CyberCPU sometimes a System that came with 10/11 without S mode enabled may receive a update that causes S Mode to be forced on...
@@shadowopsairman1583 I've never seen that before. However, that would be really shifty.
We don't do anti-trust cases anymore. The government lets the big tech companies do whatever they want.
@@administrator4728 You are thinking of iOS and the App Store. However, they are not exerting as strict single-vendor control over the app ecosystem on the iPhone as Microsoft is doing on Windows S Mode; you can get and use alternatives to the browser and media player, etc. from vendors other than Apple.
Fantastic video! I haven't encountered this particular slice of nightmare yet and wasn't aware of it, but I'm sure I'll see it at some point. Thank you for the heads-up on this!
Also, Firefox is available through the MS store but not Chrome (but ultimately new Edge is based on Chromium anyway so it's not all that much different).
This mode with that information, turns these "laptops" (with S-mode enabled) into an Edgebook, the Windows cousin to the Chromebook. Just the fact that Edge is now a Chomium fork like Google Chrome itself makes this even more true with that mode turned on.
My theory is, if these particular "cheap" Edgebooks were supposed to be sold to educational institutions (Elementary/Primary, Middle/Jr High, and High School, not including tertiary education because you can just bring the laptop from home [unless the student or their parents bought one of these Edgebooks thinking it could install external apps], to school) in bulk as a competing option to a Chromebook. I point out those three levels of school because those are the ones I think are the most restrictive in terms of how students should be using them. If a college student were to use one, pandemonium would ensue.
It totally worked, thanks!! I typed each step then emailed the steps to myself, and followed them.
Thank you so much, spent the best part of two days trying to figure out how to turn it off. Followed your steps and it worked a charm!
Wow, that is incredibly useful to know. I'll definitely keep a note on that.
Glad it helped.
I always just wipe the drive and install a KMS patched version of windows pro with office 2022
But this is handy to note, and love watching these videos. MS and gates are so corrupt, remember the homebrew when they encouraged people to pirate, that was until it affected their own bank accounts.
@@CrashedIntoTube typically reloading the system won't disable S Mode. I'm not sure how they do it. I think it's part of the activation.
@@CyberCPU The KMS online patch worked for me
Maybe it has to do with what motherboard is in the system and the bios version loaded, so you could be right that my way may not always work
I just did this action on a asus laptop someone bought from best buy. It had win 11 S mode, and I changed the bios settings, wiped the hard drive and reformatted it, then installed win 10 pro and activated it with KMS
I wouldn't recommend win 11 to anyone, that's why I use win 10 and install O&O shutup
@@CrashedIntoTube ohh, I see. I didn't even realize we were talking about a crack. I have to use legitimate activations on my customers systems. I don't spend any time looking into activation cracks. That may solve the problem but I would be careful. Many of those kinds of software are used to spread malware. Malware makers will use the same name and promise the same functionality but instead install malware on your system.
A license key for Windows is pretty cheap. I have a video on one of the really cheap license websites that I've used in the past and had good luck with. I would recommend checking it out.

Yep, my very first thought when Windows 11 started absolutely requiring the use of an MS Account to log into your local machine was that it was a step towards a Windows subscription. Can't have a subscription without turning off people who don't pay, and you can't do that without controlling their login information.
I believe MS also wants people using MS accounts so they can push other services on to you, Google style.
what bout android phone with Google account?
Bing search instead of just searching your computer, news in the taskbar, all of this stuff is an attempt to make a functional tool into a service.
@@TheZaman_ the difference is that Google lets you skip signing in on setup and the phone will still work even if you won't have access to various apps and features without signing in.

Thanks very much! Your methods worked well with an Asus Vivobook I had to configure today. I've heard of a few other laptops needing to disable Secure Boot to turn off S mode, but the Vivobook only needs the registry edits shown in the video. The device was on W11 version 22H2.
Most of the windows I work on is the pro version in business settings. So I take it you can't use powershell in S mode either. Thanks for this as occasionally I get a client that buys a machine for home and they want to run openvpn to access their company network.
I didn't test PS but I assume if you can't run CMD then you likely can't run PS ether. They've essentially disabled anything that has to do with administration and don't let you install any apps outside of the Windows store.
In the video I enabled S Mode on Windows 11 Pro just so I would have something to do the example on. However, according to Microsoft Windows 11 Pro S Mode doesn't exist. S mode only comes as home edition.
@@CyberCPU I can confirm no on powershell
@@itstheweirdguy yeah, I figured. That would be a pretty big oversight of Microsoft allowed PS and not CMD. Theoretically you could use PS to modify the registry and I believe the reason why they don't allow you to use those programs is so you can't take the system out of S Mode.
@@CyberCPU Wouldn't it work to go into audit mode and make the registry change, then put it back into oobe..I need to try this. Could save time, even though you can really only do it right after you install windows or buy a new computer and turn it on.
@@itstheweirdguy That's actually a great suggestion. I hadn't thought of that.

Thanks for keeping me from another trip to best buy. Cheers brother. Was the scariest fix of my life dude
Hi Rich, I thank you for this S-Mode tutorial. I have a friend who recently bought a laptop and asked for some help. This was my first exposure to the neutering feature called S-Mode. I did not know how to deal with it, but I knew where to go to find the answers. Now with this nugget of info, on my next visit to my friend, it will allow me to install the Chrome browser on her laptop...
Good old Microsoft is following Apple's lead and making it's own "pre-approved" Eco-system. I hate the S-mode as MOST of my old programs did not work with it. Microsoft wants you to buy, from them, new software. Not S-Mode but I had BOUGHT Microsoft Office 2010 years ago and imagine my surprise when I found out that in Win 11 MICROSOFT disabled it. They want me to RENT THEIR programs forever. What a bunch of money grubbers they are! (BTW, I switched to LibreOffice and Thunderbird, I will NEVER rent programs from Micro$oft.)
I've installed office 2010 in Windows 11 before. In fact a few times before.
@@CyberCPU - Thanks, I'll try it again. I rally miss it as I've used it for years and could do things without thinking about it.
This move by MS will drive more people to use Linux. In 2 years from now there will be 700 different linux distros & 16 different desktop environments, but even fewer people working on fixing bugs.🤣🤣

@@brentsummers7377 Windows 10 drove me back to Linux LOL But since I like to play games, I kinda have to keep using Micro$hit for a few of them while compatibility is worked on
I'd just format it regardless to remove all the garbage and recovery partition. S mode is pretty great though if you want to give the laptop to very young children or elderly parents, but it should be opt-in rather than opt-out. Xubuntu also works well for this scenario though, since GUI looks pretty much like windows 7.
Better to just give em an Android tablet..

Been using Linux since the days of Mandrake and still loving it ❤❤
Linux is not really user friendly - sorry man. Plus lots of missing software (or, software that is Windows only, doesn't run on Linux), and a ton of dicking around in the terminal. So much more can be said... but I'll stop here. But man, I thought UAC on Windows was silly until I used Linux - nothing is easier than just opening an administrative CMD, and then everything you do in that CMD window gets admin rights, that's one I'll remember for a while lol.
@@andreivaughn1468 Linux not user friendly… Hogwash, if you’re using something like Mint. As for missing software, it definitely depends on your needs. Programmers are spoilt and gamers on the up though still behind Windows. My feeling is that most of those that don’t like Linux are gamers or Adobe users.
Oh and my dad and sister use Linux mint and my sister has never used the terminal.
@@Jenny_Digital Hogwash, really? I don't consider a fully functioning browser the bare minimum requirement for an OS to be useable.
Small list of software I use which (I think) doesn't exist on Linux:
Foobar2000
Exact Audio Copy
iZotope RX8
BES CPU limiter (really important sometimes)
Speedfan
Directshow(?)
Everything search
...and you might laugh, but Microsoft Office Picture Manager, which is still the easiest way to manipulate images (precisely crop, rotate, adjust change contrast, etc)
And that's just if we're being generous, if we're not being generous, let's also include:
Photoshop (which GIMP is really not an alternative to, I know because I use both)
A bunch of games from the 2003-2013 era (not through Steam, because I actually like to own my games)
...And there's probably a few more things in that list, just because you don't use something *every day* doesn't mean it's not useful to have.
Sure, some of those can be resolved with Wine, but seriously - I've used Wine before (I also have a Mac) and it's not a perfect solution in the slightest. For all the other ones, it would be accepting losing a bunch of stuff you like and are used to, and settling with alternatives that can carry out the same tasks.
Sorry for the rant, but sure, if someone barely does anything specialised, they should be fine on Linux, or someone that's just getting into computing, and doesn't have a bunch of workflows, preferences, habits, and preferred software. But for someone that's used Windows for 10+ years, sorry dude, it might be to late for me.
@@andreivaughn1468 I’m sorry you feel this way, but I really do use my computers for genuine serious stuff and get on fine. There are issues with any OS and as for barely functioning except for a browser, that’s just not fair. I suspect you may have struggled to learn a different workflow and said ‘too hard, don’t bother’ but really, any change of scenery will have some of that effect.
I walked away from Microsoft Windows after the W10 betrayal and sure I had to learn some new stuff but now I could hardly remember a better move.
Oh and I’m just guessing here, but aren’t you maybe an artist of some kind who might be better off on Mac? I say this because the computer you choose is definitely determined by what you do with it and I _code_.

wish i had this info earlier.
i had a batch of Lenovo tablets at work that came with win 10 home in S mode (i didn't know that they are in S mode) , we were gonna put win 10 ltsc version of windows on them, but i made a mistake of booting up one of them into windows that came on them. you might say no problem you are going to re-install windows any way...well...after reinstall win 10 ltsc were still in S mode, and ltsc doesn't have windows store to get out of S mode. so i had to install home version again, create burner microsoft account , get out of S mode, and then re-install win 10 ltsc for them to be out of s mode. wiser because of this experience i re-installed other tablets straight at first boot and win 10 ltsc were in normal mode
I've done that before too. Just reinstalled Windows to try and get around S Mode. Not sure how Microsoft does that one. However, it's really shifty. It must be some interaction that takes place during activation at first boot.
If I remember correctly entering the non-S kms key can also fix it

You could also just go to startup settings from the recovery mode, let the device restart again, and then hit the number 7. This will reboot the device into the OS without the restrictions of S-Mode. From there you can just use the OS registry editor.
Second tip is that you can put the device in recovery by simply holding down the shift button as you click restart in the windows power menu
Did you try this for a range of different devices?/ Did this work for anyone else?

Got my HP laptop back from their repair center (faulty USB port so they swapped out the mother board) and they also overwrote my Windows 11 pro installation with windows 11 home in S mode. Total disaster since they also wiped all the non windows software I had installed. Impossible to restore the disk image since it was non-Microsoft software. Tried your fix, no joy, until I disabled safe boot in the bios. Fortunately I had made a full image backup of the disk( not my first rodeo) so I recovered everything. HP support decided I needed a new copy of the home OS reinstalled so they sent out a usb stick …no thanks! Your method works when combined with the safe boot disable. Critical that you
Make a full image backup of your drive before sending it out for repair. Thanks!!!
Does S mode stands for Stupid Mode?
Scam mode
Shit mode!
Thanks for the video. When I installed my copy I wasn't aware of all the privacy issues as much as I am now, and I want to disable my Microsoft account. Is there a way to do that?
Yes, you can convert a Microsoft account to a local account from your account settings.
@@CyberCPU That could be a video topic for you... Some people need step-by-step instructions performed visually just because they've been trained to second guess their thoughts, actions and decisions.
@@CyberCPU Is there any downside to creating a Microsoft account, then converting it to a local account? Thanks for the great videos!!!
@@PureMagma maybe I'll try to put something together with lots of different tips in one video. Unfortunately that one would only take like 1 minute. It wouldn't be long enough for a video by itself.
@@BABA-ws5eo I have seen some issues with converting a Microsoft account to a local account if the Microsoft account was the systems only administrator account. It simply won't allow you to change it to a local account. This is a rare occurrence but I have seen it quite a few times.
THANK YOU THANK YOUUUUU!!!! i called microsoft and they said i would have to buy a whole new computer but this saved my life and the $110 i spent. THANK YOU SO MUCHHHHHHH
After trying many ways none of them take me out of S mode. This is the first time I can't disable S mode.
Your method worked great with windows 11 23H2. Thanks!
So did you remove S mode or did you turn off the limitations of S mode? Important difference (what happens after an update?)
Shut off the damn updater.
95% of the comments: Windows spied on me, now I use Linux... 🤔For some reason I suspect that many of them forgot to say: *and I continue using my Fakebook, Intascam and all other Metacrap products because I really value my privacy and anonymity on the Internet* 🤣
Thanks, didn't know about the S mode at all, but this info can come in handy since I have to install 2 systems tomorrow :)
thank you so much! born to linux, forced to windows, and everything that is even remotely secure is ofc not available through the microsoft store. wasn’t gonna give them more personal data to use just so i could install secure software on my work machine. this worked splendidly. and was super cool! type of stuff i didn’t think you could do in windows
who else here tryna download chrome
The short answer is: don’t buy the cheapest PC because you get what you pay for!
The long answer: setting up your PC for yourself is as easy as starting a new mobile phone or tablet for the first time. If you can’t do that, then you probably can’t use the PC anyway.
You also need an Apple/Google account for mobile phone/tablet else you can’t download apps. So they all does the same thing, it’s not just Microsoft.
You don't need a Google account to download and install apps on Android you can easily download them from somewhere else and install them after enabling a setting in settings
and theyre the reason why S mode was created in the first place
Yep it's true, just re-bought my old-ass phone which runs android 4.4.2, google services are broken as hell on it, and so is the Google Play Store - got all my old 3rd party apps back by just downloading the apks and installing them. So no, they don't all "do the same thing".
So awesome. I'm trying to install Windows 11S without internet on a new cheap tablet.
First, I need to use a USB keyboard+mouse. Then I find that S mode disables Shift + F10, so I can't run OOBE\BYPASSNRO. So I use ctrl+shift+esc and work around just to find that OOBE\BYPASSNRO still doesn't work because it's in S mode. Then comes along your video that gets me past that. Now Shift + F10 work so I can now run OOBE\BYPASSNRO.
You are 100% correct that this is about control. Thank you for helping the minorities who care about freedom.
Dude it's like my 5th time back on this video, all I can say is THANK YOU.. U RULE!
This video is a life saver! I have been trying to switch out of S mode for MONTHS! Liked and subbed!!
I went through this whole process and I'm still in S mode. It's driving me nuts!
Same here! I tried 3 times, didn't work.
Me too. Looks like it no longer works.
Anyone know a fix ???
Same here
i followed all the steps and i still have the S mode :/
Same here
I just followed this and while it was still in S mode, I was finally able to go thru the store and switch out of S mode
Works for me!!! 😀 The machine is Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14ITL05 with Win 11 Home. Just upgraded it from 21H2 to 23H2. First I disabled secure boot from UEFI, tried and it didn't work. Then I found this video and followed the steps with still secure boot disabled. And it worked like a charm! After that I enabled secure boot and everything is working perfect! Thank you, dude, you save me lots of time! 🙇🏻♂ God bless you!
Your comment helped me out a lot!!! Thank you. Got mine working.
@@LumeiryRodriguezGonzalez Anytime! Glad to help! 👌🏻
Lenovo Windows 11 22H2 here (stuck in S mode following a Windows update). I did follow the method but it didn't work. Then I disable secure boot in boot/uefi, and it worked. So thanks a lot!
I had a customer last week calling us, because he couldn't install some 3. parts software on his brand new Lenovo Windows 11 laptop. It was not even a cheap computer, around $1000 and yet it came with Windows 11 Home S, and the salesman didn't even tell to our customer. Why the F* do a laptop with a pricetag like that still come with S-Mode!"
That's unusual. Typically S Mode comes on the sub $400 systems that have hardware specks that I typically wouldn't even run Windows 10 on.
Man I hope this works this s mode has been killing me I can't even use my pc properly.
Yeah, s mode is annoying.
@@CyberCPU hi it worked thanks
Thank you for this video. I ended up having to turn off secure boot for everything to work. Keep up the good work.
Hey I can't believe I did it! I feel really smart! Well done video. Windows S mode really makes me feel like repeatedly hitting someone with a baseball bat when I discover all the data they extracted is now stuck to the little tool bar in microsoft, even after wiping my computer clean it's there for life.
Did not work
Sem me mi not work
Thank you for this solution, I got a asus windows 11 and I was unable to turn off my S mode and also couldn't download in the Microsoft store even though I had an account. Your video saved me. Thanks
Thanks very much! Big thumbs up. Bought a $200 Lenovo laptop from Costco to use with a digital mixer. Naturally the software by Music Tribe is not in the Microsoft Store. Tried to make a new Microsoft account, but failed as I set up another laptop for my parents to use on Zoom. Won't let you use your email or phone number to make a new MS account to set up another machine for me. Was tired of playing Solatare on a $200 laptop that won't even run the free Office 360 due to the same lack of a Microsoft Account. Fixed that by installing Libre Office. Have not tested if I can boot my Geexbox media player or Linux Mint distro. The S Mode even prevent booting into a non MS system. Total brick except as a browser and card game without your fix. Thanks again. It can be used finally after being tossed into a corner for 2 months as useless.
Thanks! I wish I had found this video yesterday. Brand new Lenovo Windows 11 laptop, unable to get out of S mode. Ended up reinstalling Windows.
My system already starts with this OFF but watching the video is helpful for me to help family and friends if they need it done.
Omg thank you 😩 I’ve been trying to download an app over a week now and couldn’t because of this. I almost screamed when I seen the app finally downloading 😭😭
That is a perfect example of one of the, many, reasons I no longer use windoze. Good on ya m8. 🙂
Great video, thanks. Which software are you using for fan control?
Freakin GENIUS! Was trying to setup a new laptop and couldn't open a cmd to bypassnro. This method worked although not at 1st, but it did when I disabled secure boot. Wondering if I should re enable secure boot now? Thanks a million!
Thanks Buddy - this worked - saved me soooooooooooooo much time - keep 'em coming :)
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I just got a Lenovo Windows 11 S mode - had no idea. Couldn't install chrome and of course Microsoft store was unable to remove S mode (conveient). So I was able to do the disable Secure Boot and i seem to be good!
Great easy to follow explanations given in this video.
You're a gentleman and a scholar my good sir :)
Many thanks. This was so fast and simple to do
Thank you for this. I am setting up a laptop with windows 10 for a family member. Having to jump through these hoops with MicroCrap products is driving me more and more toward just running all Linux and trashing MS all together.
Good video... I have run into this twice now. But I am surprised at the number of tech people that do this around-the-block way of getting to the recovery menu, when you can just go to Start->Power and hold down shift while clicking on Restart.
to be honest, I didn't even know you could get to the recovery menu via the Settings. Ever since Windows 8 I've always done it through the start menu.
