There are some sounds from 2012 that, from my point of view, are better than the current sounds. For example, the Scania engine sound. Nowadays there are sound modders that do very good work on the sound issue. The engine sounds are so realistic, as well as the interior sounds of the trucks. I still think Scs software should hire some of these modders to make more realistic sounds. I particularly prefer to use sound mods, I don't like the default engine sounds.

The old Scania sound was a bit realistic

i dont know why SCS dont fix their engine sounds. as soon as you stop accelerating the engine just cuts off
i dont find that issue all trucks ive been to date since the old euro 3 to the current euro6 all do that as soon as you cut the power the engine goes into idle and is barely audible especially on the euro 6 type engines cause of all the dpfs and filters
@@chippyyyy it goes into idle? really? that would mean it disengaging from the drivetrain.
@@ksgaming1518 idk how much knowledge you have but when your car is coasting by when you remove any accelerator the car goes into an idle state, but idk that's just my experience with any vehicle, idk if you knew this either but when you car is in top gear or overdrive gear its essentially idling and just using the momentum it has to keep going at that speed, but someone missed the engineering classes
@@chippyyyy I drive a manual so yeah I have no knowledge of that. All I know is that when I let go of the throttle and the car is in gear, the engine is pulled along and braking the car. That's not idling, but I guess I'm nitpicking.
@@ksgaming1518 by defenition the car is in a idle state cause if you look at the data in that state even in gear the car is consuming the same fuel as if it was idling cause you not applying any sort of power so he only needs enough to not stall
Sadly we still have to rely on mods for a good experience, even after so many years. Thankfully we have some very skilled sound modders out there.

So you are saying that SCS's base game version wasnt a GOOD EXPERIENCE since you say "We still have to rely on mods for a GOOD EXPERIENCE" I mean both brings its charms. For example I hate those mods that replace in game company to real life company since It is one of the things that makes the game feel unique.
That said though , I agree some modders did a better job than SCS,mostly for licensing reasons but the problem here is there are some very badmouting idiot will insult SCS as lazy beggars and compare them to modders. Some things did by modders,such as adding real company and more trucks are very hard to achieve by a developer like SCS.
Iicense stuff and more truck are hard to achieve by SCS is bc they are a company ,not a random people like modders. This is to show that main developers dont always have the same freedom as modders do which is probaly the reason why big companies like Rockstar are so mean towards modders.
@@cheeyun9526 I meant a good experience purely from the sound point of view, maybe I wasn't being clear enough. It's one of the aspects of the game that needs to be addressed. I don't have a problem with other aspects, like companies. But the truck's engine sound is something that is present with you all the time, that's why it's so important in my opinion.
Even if the Scania had the same sound for the V8s too, it is much better than todays L6 engines

The old indicator sounds of the Actros was more accurate than the current ones used since 1.37. Sounds like it was taken from the Majestic truck in German Truck Simulator.

In some aspects. 2012 sounds are better....I prefer sound mods, those modders did better than SCS

I think they know that there are modders for that which is why they never really touch the truck sounds.

The engine sound of the 2012 Scania trucks was the best! In real life, you can hear the exact same sound on some Scania models.
Today's truck sound is like a kitchen blender. :(
And I hated horns like bees or flies flapping their wings, and I still hate them now. Does such a horn really exist? Terrible sound...
I feel like the sounds on the next gen Scania were better in 1.35 than how it currently sounds.

i'm amazed I was able to do so many km's with these engine sounds. after modding its hard to go back to these engine sound
I miss the "oohhhhh" noise from the iveco stralis as it deccelerates, actually using this video to figure out what engine I want in save edited trucks so its really useful thanks!

How do you get back to even older version of ets2 in steam like that? i dont get the options to get to older version, max is only 1.22
I missed the old MAN TGX sound which is similar to the sounds of Isuzu & Fuso Canter Japanese truck. Shame on this, where i would find this thing?

All engines sound terrible. You can barely differentiate between 100 rpm and the sound cuts out when you lift off the power. None of them sound close to their real life counterpart. Then there's the shared sounds across the entire range of trucks, such as the wipers and windows, which is just lazy. It's beyond me why we have to depend on modders such as Kriechbaum, Max and Zeemod to get realistic sounds. This should be a priority for SCS. Ah well, at least we have mod support otherwise we'd still be driving vacuum cleaners
you say that but theres triple games that nowadays still sufer from poorly done sound designs its not just an indie company like scs that have issues, be cosidered lucky cause at least scs allows mods unlike other games
@@chippyyyy That's why I said at least we have mod support. And SCS have got a team of people that can record and mix sounds yet this is result. If 3 people are able to record and produce realistic and detailed sounds by themselves, then why can't SCS?

There's a thing what can be done and is not difficult: the ending of horn sounds is too long! It bothers a lot! Before was good, even with a ending effect, but this present one is too long! It deserves a correction (In my opinion)
2012 horns were unique, different, some of them even funny. Take the screamer for example. A really good horn, the default horns were even better! They were amazing. What did scs do in 2021? They copy and pasted every horn default horn sound and called it a day. For the air horns they changed the tone a little and voila. Disappointed.
