Nostalgia is a weird thing. I was playing at like 20fps on a shitty Lenovo laptop back then, with keyboard and mouse controls, but I remember it so fondly. I still enjoy the game with my 2070 and g27 setup, but its like the magic isn't there anymore.
I used to play it on an old Asus laptop of the time, despite low framerates I'd still play it on high settings, with keyboard and mouse controls, and it's funny because I remember that so fondly too. Now I have a Logitech G29 setup with a shifter, and a pretty beefy PC to run it (more than enough for ETS2 anyway), but I get what you mean, the nostalgia factor lies with when I played on the laptop, I suppose it's probably to do with it being what got us to where we are now, and how things were simpler and new to us back then.
I'm join you guys... I used to play ETS on a old Acer laptop at very low settings... Now I have a gaming laptop from MSI and I can play the new ETS at max sets... But the old crappy days was something magic
Omg you immediately brought me back to 2013/14 when i started playing it...oh the memories,i can almost "taste" the feeling of playing those early versions (with a crappy laptop obviously),it was beautiful I also remember how i discovered it,thanks to a random video on my youtube home,and thinking "seems nice,let's see" and then found out about ETS 1 days later,never stopped playing it since i finally bought a copy a couple of months later

I remember that I bought it from a big shop in Esbjerg, the CD version. It was good, but I had it until 2019 when I realized you could get it on steam instead😂😂
When I've first discovered ETS 2 in 2012 or 2013 I didn't like it , I was rolling over at every curve , the traffic was more stupid than in 18 WOS , less options than in 18 WOS... I think I've played just one delivery , and than I've erased it from my PC and I've gone back to 18 Wheels of Steel Haulin. After a few months I've played again ETS 2 at a friend. Since then I've played ETS constantly , I started at least 5 profiles from scratch and I've made all of them at least level 50. I lost them because PC's broke. Just on the current steam profile I have about 3000 hours playtime in ETS , level 224 , over 1 million km driven , all available drivers and garages (excepting Iberia because I haven't bought it yet), over 800 trucks , almost 3000 trailers. The game has evolved quite much in 10 years , from 9 different truck models and types aviable to buy to 18(19) , to be able to buy trailers , to be able to raise/lower suspension and windows , to use retarders , engine brake , cruise control at the speed I choose, to block the diff , to raise one axle of truck/trailer etc. I'm surprised that SCS still keeps updating mostly for free this game after all this time , some other games are not getting updates after few months and you need to buy a new version evey year.
Dang the first ever ETS 2 version had a lot of things recycled from German truck/ UK truck and even ETS 1 like the barriers ,truck names for unlicensed trucks(before they got a license from each company) Btw i didn't play ets 2 in 2012 ,i knew about it only around 2017-2018 and started playing in 2020 with an outdated version ,before that i was playing those 3 games i mentioned earlier

la, compar the old sounds of the scania engine and the daf'a and the new ones, compared to the new ones, it's kind of a fart, well, this is my personal opinion, the only natural pleasant sound is from a pre-styling Mercedes 598 horses. Well, the old scania 730 is also normal, but the turbine whistles strongly :)

Majestic !. In early days, SCS Software has no license to use Mercedes-Benz trademark. They named Majestic to their truck which similler to Mercedes-Benz. And, there are too much clearance between a tractor and a trailer.

It was me when I heard ETS release a new version, first time I played it was on my Junior high school, I played it on potato pc with 30 - 40 ish fps on low setting, I played the pirated version first, I even remembered the CD key when it was shared freely, I used that same CD key until it can't be used anymore. I keep playing the pirated version until around 2017, then I buy the game on steam, it was my first purchase on steam, I still play this game to this day, ETS 2 is definitely one of my GOATED game

Yeah? How far exactly has it come? I've been running ETS2 with mods since mods became a thing and i don't see a single change. Everything SCS has added so far, has already been in the game (from mods) for YEARS. Couple of new trucks maybe....that's it.

I unfortunately can't play games anymore. Can't enjoy them and even on 165hz I get headaches sometimes. I miss ATS and ETS2.

When i was checking my file i see a Ets2 file then i download it but just work to play and yes i see some OG things. Also it's same version (1.25)
