    I'm in my 60s and fish in my Hobie PA12 5 or 6 days a week. I make the same sounds getting in and out of my boat!! Lol The wheels vs scraping the bottom is a concern of mine especially because I'm getting a new PA12 soon. I'll check out your website. I'm thankful for you posting this video!

      That was Geoff's first attempt on a Hobie Outback. Now Will practiced several times before sending me this vid on his PA12... ruclips.net/video/NRAcJPeiQnw/видео.html

      @@wildersidegear Thanks for your reply! And thanks for that link, I just watched it. I wasn't criticizing Geoff, just saying I understand things get a bit more challenging with age as I know from personal experience. I am curious about how much drilling into the hull is needed to mount your wheel system?

    0:54 the way the whole assembly shakes is really concerning, I don't think this thing looks very well built if im being totally honest.

      @wildersidegear  Месяц назад

      Hi, thanks for looking at the video and giving a great comment! I noticed the shakes as well as I was recording. The Railblaza wheel has almost zero shock absorbing qualities and the frame is rigid, but there is necessary play in the locking pin. This particular ramp seemed to put the frame in resonance with the strong grooved surface every 1.5" or so. I haven't found that effect on other ramps. I should try the same launch with the balloon tires... they really absorb the road noise much better. Fortunately, we are approaching 1,000 launches across the entire fleet and the system is holding up really well!! Even on Hobie PA 14 or a 15' squareback canoe loaded up to #230 lb. So far we have configurations installed on over 30 different kayak hull designs and uniformly working great!!

      I’d have to agree, what makes this product stand out from the others that I know of such as the landing gear that angler Greg Blanchard and RUclipsr uses…? 🤔

      Thanks for reviewing the video and providing feedback on the Freedom Launcher. Yes, great question - what's different? Some of my customers are from the Pacific Northwest where the waters are cool but fishable much of the year. These fishermen don't want to start their day standing in the water flipping up their wheels (think Boonedox) like you see in many RUclips videos. That's what attracted them to the Freedom Launcher - the ability to flip the wheels up or down easily while seated. They also like the wide wheel stance so you don't have to fight the kayak from tipping over on uneven ground. Those are some of the reasons they chose this product and the feedback I've received. Cheers - David.

      Still not worth the price you have it listed. Rather deal with Boonedox and save me 400.

    It’s so painful to watch someone put a $3700 kayak on an abrasive surface and just grind it off into the water under the full weight of their body. Just walk 6” deep into the water man, Jesus.

    • @wildersidegear
      @wildersidegear  6 месяцев назад +10

      Jesus walked on the water, but none of my friends do. But I have had friends slip and fall at the bottom of the ramp in 3" of water on the slick as snot moss that grows on the concrete. Did a real number on their back. So when you get to be over 60 years old, you weigh the potential for hull damage vs body damage differently. I can add a Kydex wear plate or weld some plastic on a badly worn kayak. A healthy back or knees is worth much more than $3700 for many of my customers.

    I'm really happy with how the gunwale bracket worked on this Hobie Outback. I made it especially for this application and it fit like a glove. I'm offering the same kit for your Hobie Outback if you are interested. I source all my parts from American suppliers when possible. If you want more info on kits for this or other kayaks, reach out to me at wilderside.life or text me at 309 220 3947. Tight Lines! - David.
