- Опубликовано: 13 янв 2024
- Today we’re going to tell you about our top Pueblo Magicos to visit in 2024. If you don’t know what a Pueblo Magico is, it translates to “magical town”.
There are 177 towns in Mexico with the Pueblo Magico designation from the federal government, which is intended to promote tourism and afford funds for economic development of towns with rich culture, history or natural significance. Basically, if a town is stamped as a pueblo magico, it’s got something worthwhile to see or experience, and for travelers, that helps put places on the map that they may have never heard about! But with 177 of them… how to decide which ones to choose??
Visiting pueblos magicos in Mexico is the perfect way to explore Mexico’s diverse cultures, its gastronomy, it’s beautiful natural landscapes and so much more. So if you’re planning a trip to Mexico we might be able to find to add these gems to your itinerary.
If you don’t know us, we’re Jenny and Kevin, two mexican americans from Chicago. We moved to Mexico 3 years ago and currently live in the mega-metropolis that is Mexico City.

Love you guys! My hubby and I are born and raised in the northeast. my husband is a Jersey boy- his parents are Colombian. I'm a New Yorker - Puerto Rican/Mexican. We bought land, in Atlixco, last year and finalizing our construction. So excited for this move! I seriously feel you guys know what emotions we’re going through at this moment in our lives. Btw we lived in Chi-town for a couples years too 😉. Come visit us whenever you feel like taking a drive to Atlixco!
Wow that’s amazing! Heck yea we’d love to meet you and learn about your building experience 🤗 send us a message on IG so we can connect?
Great, now I have more reasons to love Mexico.
Sounds like a great problem to have! Hehehe 😁
🇲🇽 We visited Patzcuaro in July of 2023. It was beautiful and the uchepos were so delicious. We found a nice pulqueria and enjoyed some fresh pulque while listening to music and bought a small pachita of mezcal to bring home. We would love to go back to Michoacán.
Mmmm pulque! Glad you visited Patzcuaro. Michoacan is such an amazing state in Mexico. Saludos amigos!
I’m so excited to take my son to Taxco & Mexico City this March for his 11th Birthday & Spring Break. The last time I was in Taxco I was about eight years old. Long overdue. Thank you for the video. They’re awesome. I’m also an native of Chicago.
Wow what a cool birthday gift! He’s so lucky. I hope it’s a wonderful time for you all. Saludos!
Loved this one!!! My favorite so far that my family and I have been to is Tapalpa, Jalisco. Definitely worth going! Hope you guys can make it!
Andy! Thanks so much amigo! Really appreciate your support 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
Adding Tapalpa to the list!
you guys are doing some of the best mexico vlogs out there, muchas gracias!
Thank you, Dave! So kind of you to say 🤗
San Cristobal de Las Casas: too big and too many foreigners. But the countryside around it and the people in the villages are fantastic. THE Grutas del Mamut only about 10 km outside the city are definitely worth seeing. Sumidero Canyon is a wonderful experience and I floated the Grand Canyon in the USA 40 years ago when it wasn't crowded like today. And the Cascadas de Agua Azul near Palenque are some of the most gorgeous riverine landscape I have seen anywhere in the world. I will definitely return to Chiapas! Coatepec is close to home and we love it. We don't drink coffee, but there is so much more to the city. We especially love the Cascada de Texolo just south of the nearby town of Xico, which is also a Pueblo Magico. There is so much to see and do in Mexico that we will never exhaust our list in the 15 or 20 years we have left. I started in the 1950s and I'm not yet half through.
Absolutely, Mexico is incredible and I'm sure we won't see it all even in our lifetimes, but we will enjoy trying! :) thanks for adding these must sees in Chiapas and near Coatepec!
So many interesting places in Mexico! ❤
Truly! Thanks for your comment 🤗
Taxco is my dad’s hometown I love going there
What a beautiful town to be from! Saludos
My family also has a house close to Atlixco. Usually we go out to eat there or just bring food home; there’s so many options. I’m thinking about going in the summer.
Nice! Such a beautiful area to have a home in.
Taxco de Alarcón, Pátzcuaro e San Cristóbal de las Casas são minhas cidades mágicas favoritas no México, saudações.
que legal! Temos os mesmos favoritos em nossas listas ❤️🤗
Taxco❤❤❤
Another Taxco fan! 🤗
My favorite pueblos magicos include Bernal, Xico (similar to Coatepec), Loreto, Todos Santos, San Cris. Hoping to travel to Taxco and Atlixco this year! Great recommendations!
We love Bernal, too! Made it to our list last time ☺️ Xico we didn’t get a chance to go to because I got really sick but thanks for reminding me we need to figure out how to make that happen!
Great video as always! Take care take you guys!
❤🇲🇽❤
Muchas gracias! 🫶🏻 you too
Great video. I plan to make it a least one of the pueblos that you recommended. I agree that Taxco is one of the best. Last time we were there my wife went crazy buying silver jewelry from there.
lol well if she’s gonna go crazy buying jewelry somewhere let’s be glad it was there! 😅😜
Hi guys, love you both, I love Me'xico, greetings from USA 🇺🇸 🙏🇨🇴✌️
Hey Hernan thanks so much for your comment! 🤗❤️ saludos!
I told Tricia she is not allowed to go to Taxco. WAY too much Jewelry shopping! hahaha
hahaha! Tricia, are you there? I'll take you! 😅😈
Love the videos. Love Atlixco! Glad you guys are thriving in CDMX!! Our next trip will be Hidalgo but it must wait as we have a baby coming in June. Cheers!!
Awe congrats on the upcoming baby! ☺️ we also want to go to Hidalgo soon
Y’all just remind me how much I love 🇲🇽. There is so much variety. I’m putting a pause on traveling this year but this video is definitely making me doubt that decision lol P.S. that rooftop is magical ❤
Hehe, all I can say is do what's best for you, Hannah! 😉❣
Been to Oaxaca and Merida. Been looking at Taxco for awhile now. Looks great. Go Bears (next season). Think it’s below zero today back home in Chicago today. Do you guys miss any of the Chicago food? I’m in Thailand now. Have been in SE Asia for months. Lost 20 pounds here. But I miss pizza and beef sandwiches, and tacos and enchiladas. I’d kill for a gyro here. Good job on the vids. Nice to see people from back home doing good.
Hey there! Wow we love Thailand ❤️ glad you’re enjoying it. We missed pizza in the beginning but there’s SO much good food in Mexico our cravings are easily satisfied. We visit often enough (once or twice a year) and fill up on our favorite foods like Italian beefs, Greek food, and our moms’ cooking. 😊
Amazing Mexico
Mexico lindo y muy muy querido ❤️
Love yall channel guys… vayan a pueblos mágicos en Guanajuato. ❤
We love Guanajuato ❤️ we've been to Dolores Hidalgo! Loved it
I love you vidoes
thanks so much for the love!
Absolutely LOVED Taxco, glad you two loved it too!
yay someone else for Team Taxco!!
I like Real de Catorce, SLP.
That's definitely on our list! Hoping to visit soon
I'm fron Michoacán with roots in Pátzcuaro. We go several times during a year. You have to go back to Pátzcuaro when its not noche de muertos. It's nice to experience but very overwhelming. The mercado is being rebuilt. So maybe go back and review the new mercado? Some local spots are tacos nacho in plaza chica and cenaduria lulu. Small local spot but their fried quesadillas are to die for. Also lago Zirahuén. Ruins in Tzintzuntzan. Santa clara del cobre is 20-30 min away too. Estribó grande for a morning hike. I can go on and on.
Yes, we definitely do need to go back to Patzcuaro! Thanks so much for the recs. There's soooo much beauty in Michoacan ❤️ one of our favorite states in Mexico for sure
So many people get sick in San Cristóbal. I went with a group of 12 and 6 of them got sick. When I went again with a friend she got sick, and I have met many others who have gotten the stomach thing. Nevertheless I absolutely love San Cristóbal. It’s probably my favorite so far but I haven’t visited that many. Really want to visit Taxco because I love silver!
think my stomach is fuerte because I have spent so much time in India!
Yikes, yea that’s the downside to Chiapas. The water crisis is awful. 😞 but still so much to love about it!
Oh you’ll love Taxco! The silver is only one of the many fascinating and beautiful things about that town
We spent several days in Valladolid and really loved it. Hope to go back one day.
This spring we're doing Puebla>Xalapa>Coatepec>Xico>Orizaba>Tehuacan. And Cuetzalan if we can squeeze it in.
Wow! what an awesome tour you have coming up let us know what you think. We have not been to Valladolid even though we lived so close for a month.
I suggest, although not yet a Pueblo Mágico, is my hometown of Tangancícuaro, Michoacán which includes the Parque Nacional El Lago de Camécuaro! The waters are clear and can see straight to the bottom, food vendors, and lanchas that you can take out on the lake for a little chill session while bandas, norteñas, and mariachis walk around complaciéndole a la gente!
⭐️⭐️Local Tip⭐️⭐️
Every morning, the waters give off vapors and locals believe the waters are healing. You can walk from the pueblo to the lago and take a nice dip to start your mornings! Then go grab something to eat en la plaza or los guisados de Doña Mari.
Wow! Thank you for this!
Glad you enjoyed!
Love your videos…
Thanks so much for your comment 🫶🏻
I'm making this my bucket list, Thank you
Very cool! Honored to help you with your bucket list 🤗
As much as I love the title of Pueblo Mágico, Taxco definitely deserves to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
AGREED! A UNESCO title is much more prestigious anyhow!
thank you for sharing your adventures
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Ajijic pueblo magico.. please go there
Definitely, we just put on the list!
I've only been to Mexico twice, only saw one pueblo magico (Cholula) which I loved but also the great cities and towns of CDMX, Puebla, Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende and Tizayuca, Hidalgo (random!). I loved them all and I can't wait to go back. I'd really love to go do Guadalajara and Lagos de Moreno in Jalisco, see a few more spots in Hidalgo and Puebla states, and go to San Luis Potosi.
So cool! For only having been to Mexico twice, you’ve been to some really cool spots!
What’s in Tizayuca? Lol that does sound random
@@EatBailaTravel I went there because the friend I was staying with in Mexico City is a luchador and he had a match there!
Oh that’s super cool!!
México 🇲🇽 lindo y querido😎❗️
que sí que sí! ❤️
Taxco has been on my list for a while now!❤ Happy to see your videos again 😊
Taxco is so special! I hope you get to go soon! 😊
I was surprised but yet glad that you didn't have San miguel de allende on the list. It is a tiny tad bit overly commercialized but I still love it. I love San cristobal as well! Funny because my nephew and I both got a stomach bug there as well! P.s: Jenny your hair looks so pretty in this video!
San Miguel is a great town but it is no longer a pueblo magico due to joining the Unesco world heritage sites. It's actually considered a city now.
I highly recommend Tlalpujahua, Michoacan, a Pueble Magico.
Tlalpujahua is definitely on our list! That’s the Christmas town right?
Yes, it is. It starts in late October.@@EatBailaTravel
Sweet, thank you!
Nice list! Those cities are all so pretty and have so much to offer, they all sound like great choices.
They really are! Hoping to see all 177 someday 😁
Tepozlan, Morelos
Yes we gonna go there soon!
🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
🫶🏽
❤🎉 books trip to all of them...
yes
HOLA friends. 👋🏼👋🏼
San Chris is the top of my list, though we have only been to a few. We just recently visited Xico ❤ loved it. Well we live in Coatepec now, love being able to walk everywhere. ❤ Yes the food tops my list here thus far in Veracruz.
Cant wait to explore Oaxaca. 😊
Take care guys. ✌🏼
Nice! I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying Veracruz ☺️ and Coatepec is just lovely ☕️😌 we didn’t make it to Xico unfortunately because I got super sick when we were in Xalapa/Coatepec but hopefully soon 🙂
I look forward to hearing how you like life (and food!) in Oaxaca 😊
We look forward to having street tacos with you guys sometime soon lol We are planning a trip to CDMX in Feb. sometime @@EatBailaTravel
Nochistlan Zacatecas
Have you been? What do you recommend in Nochistlan? :)
Pueblo magicos are amazing. Having been to several it would be very hard for me to narrow it down to 5. I like your list. I would say that Tlaquepaque is worth a visit if your going to be in Guadalajara. 🇲🇽 -Marc
We have been there but it was a while back. It is definitely a great town. Have y'all been to Real de catorce? We really want to go there.
@@EatBailaTravel We still have not been there yet. We want to go too. Maybe the 4 of us head out there at some point?
That would be great!! We need to sit down and plan our trips for this spring. Let us know when you plan to go!
@@EatBailaTravel. We'll do that. -Marc
It’s so sad that everyone gets really sick in San Cristobal, it’s a beautiful Pueblo Magico.
It’s unfortunate that Coca Cola and other big industries have made it so difficult for people in Chiapas to access clean water 😔
I recommend Mineral Del Chico, Hidalgo 🇲🇽💗
Putting it on our list!
Nochistlan, Zacatecas el mejor🇲🇽 Go on the last Sunday of July and let me know what you think. Saludos 👋
Gotta check it out! We have heard its a little rough lately but we will go for sure soon.
Have you guys been to Guanajuato? I’d definitely put it on my top 5 list
Guanajuato is actually not a pueblo magico, but it is a UNESCO world heritage site, which I'd say is an even more prestigious designation! We love Guanajuato, too
Is it possible (and safe) to drive from town to town during daytime? It would be fun to do it that way and give us more flexibility. Thanks.
My partner and I have driven around Michoacán and Guanajuato during the day mostly on paid highways and did not have any issues.
@@cmo670 Thanks for the feedback. I'd like to do that.
@@carefulconsumer8682 my only recommendation is to have a copilot consistently referencing navigation and telling the driver where to go because it’s easy to miss an exit.
Yea during the day time it’s safe to drive from town to town. I also recommend sticking to the paid toll roads
Thank you. Very good suggestions. Jenny, do you still work at UNAM? How is work going?
Thanks for your comment 🤗
And, things got complicated with my job. As of last week I no longer have that job. I’m not ready to share more than that right now, but I appreciate you asking.
Go to Tepoztlan. 🙂
Yess hopefully very soon!! 😊 thanks!
Tepotzlan Morelos
Now that we live close to there we'll definitely be going soon!
@@EatBailaTravel i went in the end of April beginning of may it was HOT 🥵 fyi
😯 oh good to know!
🔥🔥
🫶🏽🫶🏽
Found this video as I'm searching for this time of Mexican experience. If you had to select between San Miguel de Allende and Oaxaca; which one ?
San Miguel de Allende, then Oaxaca! Both are very much worth visiting but also very different.
@@EatBailaTravel Ok Cool ! I like traveling the same trajectory in one direction. I'll check flight options arriving in Leon first .. then sweep south. Not interested in beaches as we live in FL and booked a beach holiday on Costa Rica's Atlantic for October. Just got back from Egypt and Mrs. wants another vacay next month. 😀 ... Love your channel and I'm leaning on Morelia as part of the scope - and maybe Vera Cruz, the return from Oaxaca.
San Miguel De Allende should be #1
San Miguel de Allende is not a Pueblo mágico it’s actually a city, which caught us by surprise but it’s also a a UNESCO world heritable site.
have you visited chihuahua pueblo magicos creel?
No we haven’t been to Chihuahua yet but hoping to this year ☺️
I keep hearing from Mexican people that San Cristobal is either “just for tourists,” since it has a bunch of nice stuff in the poorest state in Mexico and/or it’s for “hippie partiers.”
So far, I haven’t been to anywhere in Mexico that compares to Oaxaca in any kind of total cultural sense.
You know, I can't really disagree with you on that note for San Cris. I kind of felt that, too. Chiapas is a beautiful state with lots of natural wonders and San Cris makes a good "home-base" for taking day trips to nearby places.
@@EatBailaTravel sounds about right. Have you been to some of the well known Mayan temples down there?
No actually! We didn’t get around to it but that’s a great reason to go back there soon
Why didn’t y’all count MAZUNTE ?? It’s considered a Pueblo maxico!
Actually that's because we haven't spent enough time there to give it fair consideration. It is beautiful!
Favorite state in mexico?
Veracruz!
Mexico has so many wonderful places, but with so many pueblos receiving the designation it's starting to feel somewhat diluted in its meaning
That's a great point. I did feel it was unnecessary to add more to the list, but another part of me was hopeful that that meant economic development for those areas. As long as the govt follows through on their promise, of course.
San Miguel Allende 😢😢
San Miguel de Allende would be on the list but it is no longer a Pueblo mágico they have become a city and a unesco world heritage site.
That's a "gringo spot" but too much expensive now. It's about spend a night, not a fortune. Hotels are too expensive there. 😢
Censorship
huh?
I have been watching your videos for a long time now and I am a subscriber. I just noticed at the beginning of this video that you called yourselves Mexican-American. If you were born in the United States you are American. Not Mexican American. I am white and I was born in the United States and I don't call myself English American (and neither would you) because my ancestors came here hundreds of years ago. So please drop the hyphenated titles. I don't see how it's necessary.
But it's also their choice.
a white guy with the name texmex lol stop it
I am born 100% white and my wife is from Sinaloa. So what is wrong with that? I was born and raised in Texas with blond hair and blue eyes. @@charleyu5506
Ok, I get your point. So if the can call theirselves Mexican-American. What do you call a white person born in the united states?@@paulgutman5811
They have dual citizenship. So yeah, Mexican and US American.
Dying to visit Taxco!!
Taxco is amazing!
