Like Omikron itself, I don't know how this episode managed to keep topping itself. The reveal of the metaphorical loaded gun was the most insane thing in an episode loaded with wild swerves. Shout-out to John and Woolie joking about John being unable to script these podcast episodes like his videos, then later discussing John taking a prank lie too far, and then John wording his Omikron statements to imply he jumped off at certain points. John's sudden horrified realization that "yes, things could've been even worse" and that his dyslexia actually helped him dodge a bullet is just beautiful.
I am so so ready for this. John's Omikrom torture month has been living rent-free in my head ever since Woolie memorizing dungeon layouts in F+H so he didn't have to deal with torches. Edit: John “I don’t want to be the villain of this podcast” holding a loaded gun to Woolie’s head for the rest of this show.
2:19:55 I’ve literally never seen woolie look so manic and unhinged before, it’s actually kinda terrifying 2:26:37 the realization after John utters those words is incredible
John calls it a loaded gun on the table, but it's dangerous to call shots with the Combo Breaker system. All Woolie has to do, is take the first napkin, and he will be the one in control of destiny...
This is easily anticipated. John can simply beat the game again in his spare time and record it and then instead of asking Woolie to “beat Omikron” he can ask him to “beat omikron AGAIN” a recommendation can be anything so long as it is unique. To delve into a hell you have already conquered is unique to the first experience. There could even be some fucked up variant to make it worse.
This preempts the counter breaker and if Woolie doesn’t complete the game on his own in secret… then John may simply say “oh no, I HAD to play it again because I will admit your original cooperative play through has some merit. I had to completely devalue it”
@@Bighomie39Combo Breaker just means that the thing being recommended is something the recommendee has already watched/read/played. You get 3(?) combo breaks total, and afaik there is currently no consequence for being combo broken three times so far because they are just making this up as they go. So yes, Woolie immediately resorted to the highest level of recommendation violence in episode 2 to avoid being combo broken and experiencing a consequence that doesn't exist.
Never have I seen such primal fear put into the soul of this man. Recommending Omicron is an act that requires such retribution. Eyepatchwolf is a better man than me.

My god this podcast is just them taking turns being the villain of the month but so far John is easily more unhinged. 3 hours of tension for an amazing ending, true cinema.
I felt immense dread when Woolie said "webcomic" because I thought hed say homestuck. I let out a primal yell of pure hype when he dropped Kill Six Billion Demons.
...to be fair Homestuck is not that bad. No really, the main reason people started to hate it was due to the community around it. The comic itself at least for most of it's existence, like more than 50%, was a fun read. I mean yeah there is a drop-off.....no there is no but it was a mess. If anything I would love to see John dig though a dead webcomic, a time capsule of a certain time period the internet passed though and left behind. I mean most people would just harp on the memes, John may actually find something profound even in Homestuck.
I unironically want them to "suicide pact" recommending the entirety of Homestuck to one another because that would actually kill the podcast and it would be the best possible way to go out. Imagine an entire podcast of these two men having forced one another to read the entirety of Homestuck
I listen to this podcast because it's two cool people whose opinions I trust getting to see media (which I may or may not be familiar with) with fresh eyes. I did not ever expect it to be a consistently funny experience. When the recommendations came around this time, I was laughing so hard I was crying. Well done.
You know how traumatic Omikron was to Woolie when you literally see him break out in cold sweat at the mere idea of being forced to replay it. What a rollercoaster.
From 1:41:00 to 2:37:00 is John slowly revealing that he is the Jon Wick of gaming and journalism. He wasn't locked into an LP. He wasn't forced to do it for some reward. He is simply a man of means and a man of conviction.
I just have this deep feeling that John is going to give Woolie, just a few nice months. You know, let him just kinda enjoy his time. Like, if you ever got a call from your parents where they were like, "Hey what time are you going to be home?" And you say, "Oh, well maybe like 8. Why?" And their response is, "Oh no reason...no reason at all. Hey, enjoy it." Just letting Woolie have a little bit of enjoyment before the most vile shit John can muster.
John: I refuse to be the villain of this podcast. Also John: **puts himself through way worse torture than asked of him just so he can blackmail his friend with it**
My GAWD. The energy levels just DIE when they get to talking about Omikron. All the fun suddenly dried up. It's like a damn support group or an intervention.
The sheer insane excitement and chaotic joy on Woolies face when John mentions the 8 time bombs is one of the best things I have ever come across. Thank you for making my day great and I hope you guys have a great day as well 👍
2:25:49 No one has ever made a chill go down my spine with the words, "you okay sweetie?" before but this feels like what a serial killer says when he's been pushed too far and has cornered his prey.
That ending was like something out of an A24 movie. The rising dread, the psychological terror, the sinking feeling in your gut that you are about to witness someone go through the absolute harrowing of Hell itself.
I injured myself laughing at this. My abs, my jaw, my throat, all ruined in the crossfire of this twisted love/hate mindfuck between two (eventually former) friends. At least I know they're suffering as much as I am, and that shall be the medicine for my wounds. Can't wait to see how everyone gets tortured next episode!

John's sudden horrified realization that "yes, things could've been even worse" and that his dyslexia actually helped him dodge a bullet is just beautiful.
(timestamp is 2:11:17)
I am so so ready for this.
2:19:55 I’ve literally never seen woolie look so manic and unhinged before, it’s actually kinda terrifying
2:26:37 the realization after John utters those words is incredible
I had to completely devalue it”
Is that a fucking Jojo-
How does the Combo Breaker work, exactly?
2:24:11 has got to be my favorite Woolie laugh of all time. He's laughing so hard he looks frightened, like he is gazing deep into the abyss and giving way to madness itself.
Holy shit this podcast has such fantastic energy; a little tension makes it SO much more entertaining!
I swear to god, whenever the music stops, John looks DIRECTLY AT THE CAMERA, and starts speaking calmly and slowly, unblinking and unchanging as the camera keeps zooming further and further.
The absolute dread that fills the air, the menacing aura he exudes is so absurdly powerful, holy shit

The _threat_
The fact that John’s got a nuke in his back pocket only means Woolie needs one of his own, and after that it’s a game of deterrence.
But where would Woolie possibly find a fate worse then Omikron?
@@ThatGuyNikolas on a website called MSPaint Adventures
@@ThatGuyNikolas I'm sure there's SOMETHING in the fighting game barrels that have been festering since Saturday Morning Scrublords ended.
"Earthbound oozes... *itself*" is a line that could have been written by Tim Rogers as "the bottom line". I'm surprised woolie wasn't into it.
One day we'll see Tim Roger's actual Earthbound bottom line 👏
There already is kind of a bottom line for Earthbound from his Kotaku video about 1994 games
"Earthbound is the game that made me become a vegetarian"
Which by itself is kind of a nonsense statement, but his elaboration of what it means is beautiful, like his other videos
You are? Why?
That’s exactly what I thought too LMAO
Well tim said something very similar about doom but then said “man what a wildly terrible sentence to say”
Holy shit that final five minutes may just be one of the best moments of a podcast I have ever witnessed
Woolie is a man with self-respect. He's never read homestuck
...to be fair Homestuck is not that bad.
@@liamk1610wait, you think Woolie has self respect? Have you watched his podcast?
I unironically want them to "suicide pact" recommending the entirety of Homestuck to one another because that would actually kill the podcast and it would be the best possible way to go out. Imagine an entire podcast of these two men having forced one another to read the entirety of Homestuck
Woolie seeing John's pain and being worried about what is about to happen is priceless
John sounds like a Seal trying to say "RRR"
Or Or Or
"I took a few pieces of rice from your plate, YOU BULLDOZED MY HOUSE!" Best quote from the whole podcast
John's dramatic cadence in every single thing he does really makes it so obvious he's a wrestling fan
Eyepatchwolf, standing in Woolie's window with a cutlass: "I'm comin back"
John had his own Breaking Bad crawlspace moment
"i will not be the villain"
*proceeds to do the most evil thing so far on this podcast*
I listen to this podcast because it's two cool people whose opinions I trust getting to see media (which I may or may not be familiar with) with fresh eyes. I did not ever expect it to be a consistently funny experience. When the recommendations came around this time, I was laughing so hard I was crying. Well done.
It's funny because now I want to reccomend people this very podcast but I'm not even sure where to start lol
"The deck is a little stacked Woolie, you're the one who shuffled it!" is such an unexpected great quote there
They truly emphasized the *VERSUS* in _Versus Wolves_
I am living for the absolute vitriol dripping off of johns words in the intro
Omikron the nomad's soul: How David Cage killed my best friends
John using Woolie's own ultimate nightmare against him. The sheer, wide-eyed PTSD that that brought forth.
This is some high quality podcasting and also the best argument for podcasts having a PVP category.
You know how traumatic Omikron was to Woolie when you literally see him break out in cold sweat at the mere idea of being forced to replay it.
What a rollercoaster.
The hypest podcast where every episode is the final episode
This is a serious contender for best podcast imo. The energy is just so compelling.
2:49:01
"For the first time in his life the king felt true fear"
From 1:41:00 to 2:37:00 is John slowly revealing that he is the Jon Wick of gaming and journalism. He wasn't locked into an LP. He wasn't forced to do it for some reward. He is simply a man of means and a man of conviction.
Oh my fucking christ that ending. Jeeeeeesus fuck. I am HOWLING.
The last five minutes, holy shit this podcast ROCKS.
God damn that was the biggest power move I have ever seen, props to John
I just have this deep feeling that John is going to give Woolie, just a few nice months. You know, let him just kinda enjoy his time. Like, if you ever got a call from your parents where they were like, "Hey what time are you going to be home?" And you say, "Oh, well maybe like 8. Why?" And their response is, "Oh no reason...no reason at all. Hey, enjoy it."
Just letting Woolie have a little bit of enjoyment before the most vile shit John can muster.
Considering how John got freaked out by the strip club, are we sure he’s capable of finding something horrifying for Woolie?
@@gameb9oy Watch the end of the podcast
It's waiting for the level 2 counter breaker.
@@MrFlunkorgoh my word! He had so much fun with that
While I dont want it to ALWAYS be a spite pick, I love the looming threat.
John: I refuse to be the villain of this podcast.
Also John: **puts himself through way worse torture than asked of him just so he can blackmail his friend with it**
Boy am I glad to see John's showmanship hasn't decayed at all after the last few LFAB Game of the Year podcasts, that was beautiful.
In-fucking-credible ending holy shit.
John is a FANTASTIC heel holy shit. He can be genuinely terrifying and i am fucking here for it
John is one of the best Heels weve ever had, hes wonderful
John is *so* good at being ominous in a very specific, very anime/wrestling kind of way. The section from around 2:27:54 onward is excellent to watch
My GAWD. The energy levels just DIE when they get to talking about Omikron. All the fun suddenly dried up. It's like a damn support group or an intervention.
The sheer insane excitement and chaotic joy on Woolies face when John mentions the 8 time bombs is one of the best things I have ever come across. Thank you for making my day great and I hope you guys have a great day as well 👍
this pod only being monthly makes it all the sweeter
Seeing John (aka eyepatchwolf) expel rage drool was something else
John is such a storyteller in everything he does. It’s fantastic.😂 He and Woolie bounce off each other so well.
