Definitely the best video I've found to help me with my 6.0/TH350 swap. Summit sent me a crankshaft with the long flange instead of the short factory flange, so needing to do all of this checking 😂
I ran into this exact issue with my turbo race truck. I had to turn down the face of the spacer to work with my aftermarket converter and the SFI dished flex plate. I also had to run .120 converter to flex plate spacers to set the pull out of the converter.
mike i have 2003 5.3 with th400 .an about a 1/4 begind the flaxplate an converter ..i can mill the face dow a little front cup adapter to foward a little the converter? thanks..
Just seeing this in 2024. Back in 17 I found that my stock 6.0 adapter had the interference. Ended up taking 3mm off of the converter side of the adapter itself so I could run my Coan converter and the flat flexplate and adapter.
Hey Shawn todays I have a problem with 350 motor tries to insert to a 4L60 . What I can do if I crie for a long hours after that...congrats with your good videos.
Hey my friend I have a question? I have a 6.0 and a 02 4l60e transmission what flywheel it will work for my application can you please let me know if you can thank you!
My truck is a 2003 5.3 with 4L80E swap and as I was looking over the work that was done I noticed they used flat washer between the flex plate and Torque Converter, with that being said what issue would arise if the 1/8 to 3/16 spacing was not correct on torque converter? I’m having issues and would appreciate your advice
The converter needs to be pulled out of the transmission pump 1/8”- 3/16” from fully seated. Without that pump damage will occur, loss of pressure and then destroy the rest of the transmission.
@@dennielittlesr4600 The dished SFI flexplate is sold with the same spacer as used with the flat flexplate on the crank side for use on the converter side. It doesn’t work in most cases. I did several more flexplate / adapter videos. Best way is a weld on hub extension and the dished SFI plate.
Hey Shaun, I love your videos. I am putting an LS1 4L60E with LS1 4L60E torque converter behind my SBC. Theoretically, based on all the info you have provided to date, I think these will bolt together and work so long as I elongate the TC mounting holes on my SBC flexplate and cut 0.400" of the torque converter hub. Is this correct?
I'm trying to understand all of this so I have a l60 from a 2000 s10 4.3 putting it on my 2004 tahoe 5.3 what should I buy that is the best way to go ... flat 6.o flex plate or the aftermarket one? I am just trying to get something that just simply works I figure you are the man to ask thanks.
@@michaelshearer2513 In this case the 6.0 spacer and flat plate should bolt to the stock converter. Check the converter bolt pattern for line up, only snag.
I don't have factory flexplate that came with 6.0 ls2 engine. So my question is what would I need to mate my later model 4l60e to it. Engine is out of 05 corvette and transmission 06 chevy 4l60e
Hi good morning….. I like your videos and I have a quick question… I have a 2000 Silverado 6.0 lq4 4l80e from factory… I like to swap the 6.0lq4 to a new ls3 engine.. could you please advise what flexplate I will need perhaps you could share a part number… thanks in advance…
Doing similar change and here what I have found so far. The 1999-2000 Lq4 6.0s with the iron heads, have a thicker flanged crank on the rear so no spacer on the end of the crank. When they went to the aluminum heads Lq4 (2003?), they used same flex plate, thinner rear crank flange, so has the spacer on the crank. Supposed to be factory. I have yet to verify until I get my iron head 6.0 out. Please check this info before you do anything lol.
so what your saying is. if i use the OEM 4l80 flex plate with a turbo 400, i need to shim between the torque converter and flex plate 1/8-3/16ths of an inch or is he spacing for the torque converter to trans in the bell housing?
With that setup as long as you pull the converter out of the pump .125 min. to .1875 Max. You are good. If you have to shim to fill the remaining gap so be it.
Shawn good afternoon! I feel your rabbit 🐇 hole, have you ever work with TCI MACHINED flex plate 399754? My plate on the LQ4-4l85e the crank spacer is built into the plate, do you know where does that spacer goes on the TCI application? I'm guessing on crank hub! Nobody gives instructions and knows it not a bolt and go! Thanks for any help!
On the flat flexplate yes. You can run the same spacer on the converter side on the dished flexplate. I trust the SFI rated dished plate with a welded on converter hub pilot spacer. I have several newer videos doing this.
Right on, I’ve watched them, I gotta recheck my clearance on converter to adapter, I did write down your measurements for the weld on pilot. Thanks for the awesome videos!
So i'm in the process of swapping a 4.8 and a adapting it to a 700r4. I have the flat 4L80e plate (legacy). The motor came out of a GMC 2500 box van so it makes sense that it had the big trans. I hadn't got to slotting holes but did install an ICT billet spacer. If I'm understanding you correctly, I don't need the spacer and do not need to elongate the holes to fit the older trans?
I was just talking about this last week. Telling friends about your flexplate conversions etc. But my buddy at the trans shop said there is an adapter u weld to the front of convertor or flexplate dont quite remember. These were to use ls with th400

Thanks Shawn , great info ! . Question or maybe a suggestion for a video , trans mount rubber or poly ?
I got a 4.3 that I am trying to see will the torque converter hook up to the 4 l60e without taking it back out
You can put the adapter on the flex plat to simulate the crank there the same dimensions
I wish I had all those tools that they use in America in Jamaica to do my mechanical work
If you are ever in my neighborhood I will share. I did go to Jamaica once!
You sound like your from the 207 area like myself buddy lol
Nailed it!

I’m doing a 5.3 to powerglide and have to cut the adapter down about 1/8 to see if it lets the converter touch the flex plate

o no i am trying to do a 700r4 factory converter to a ls
So on the sfi dished flexplate you don't need an adapter all you need is the 6 hole spacer
I weld a .400 spacer on the converter hub and no longer run a spacer with the dished SFI Flexplate.
I have a later video on the subject.
I'm running a 4l60e on my ls2 6.0 corvette will a dish flexplate work with adapter? Or what will I need to mate

I just bought a circle d 3200 stall for my 6.0 4l80e and it a 3 bolt and the original one is a 6 bolt what do i need to do
Short of sending it back as long as the 3 bolts line up with the flexplate, run it!
