Great advice. I am running a 1999 5.3 in a s10 with a 4l60 from the s10 could not understand why convertor didn't line up with flexplate till I watched you video. Lots of information explained in a way it can be understood easily. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Shawn just watched your video again, and I'm thinking anyone that makes and takes their time to make straight up Damn good videos deserves a subscription, so now I won't miss one.thanks again Brother.
Great video. Glad I found you . Im putting an old sm465 manual behind a long crank 2000 6.0 l . Which flywheel and clutch should I purchase (on a budget) fairly stock hp build? Just a stock flywheel from like a 2000 chevy 1500 truck ?? Thanks for your time.
Shawn. I'm swapping a 2000 LS1 infront of a 4l60e. What flexplate should I use, you said that these engines didn't take the extra spacing into consideration
When you talk about the spacer that goes in between the converter and the flexplate @ 7min and 50 sec... do you know a part number for that or what they would refer to it as?
Is there a difference in a TH400 Flexplate and a 700R4 flexplate on a 1982 Chevy 350 engine ? I just swapped the TH400 out of my old 82 Chevy 350 cu.in. Cube van and put in a 1991 700R4. I had the driveshaft shortened and a new 27 spline Slip yoke installed...It bolted right up...but I am getting a rumbling noise near the Torque Converter....not sure what it is... I haven't taken it out on the road yet... as I don't want to make things worse !
I Have a 4l80e on my 1999 crew cab obs k2500 had a 5.7. Swapping out to a lq9. Please what flex plate do I need. What truck, car,Years look into to get it
Shawn read this, Here is what I found. I have a 1995 5.7 that has a 4L80E. I am putting the 1995 motor into my 1990 Chevy van that has a 305 and a th400. I also found a balance plate on the 4l80E flex plate. The flex plate came with the 95, 5.7 motor. The 95 motor is a roller cam engine, after looking into the numbers of the first Gen1 Vortech motors, Which is what I was after. The flex plate with the balance plate being on the 95's flex plate has me puzzled?? I am thinking when I use the th400 torque converter and transmission of leaving the balance plate. Which I think I should. Has anyone else seen anything like this?? I don't want to remove that balance plate cause it may have something to do with the balance of the engine. What to do, what to do..
All one piece seal SBCs are external balance on the flexplate end. The 4L80E and TH400 should have the same converter bolt pattern. Should be a simple swap.
This is one of the best RUclips videos I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

I have made a few recent videos about the same subject, finding better ways to do it.

Finally got the answer I’ve been looking for. Thanks

You want the flywheel for a 2000ish Silverado 6.0
It will have the .400 thickness built in. It takes a 12” clutch.
Usually $100 or less.
@@mountainsgarage probably the same as like a 1999 with the 5.7? I cant seem to find a 2000 ish with a manual to search ..
Saludos veo que estos tutoriales son muy completos...Pero les falta la traducción ... Gracias 🙏
Can you use the flat one on a Dodge2500 automatic v8 5.9 or do I have to use the dome????
Hi Shawn, I have a 02 lq4 with the flat plate and spacer if I'm not mistaken my 06 4l60e should bolt right to it. am i wrong?
Yes the 4L60E converter spacing is LS depth, not Legacy Depth. So it will not work with the 6.0 set up.

It’s a Summit Racing SUM-704000, Jegs 601010, add a K and you get the bolts. Others such as ICT Billet make them as well.
Thanks for watching!
Which flexplate for a LS 6.2 to a 220-4R?
Hey do you have any insight to how I could get a 99-00 lq4 6.0 to my nv3500 in my Chevy half ton
You likely have the +.400 crankshaft so a flywheel from a similar vintage Camaro/ Firebird will work.
That helped me a little now i know it has 3 bolts but I have a question about my flywheel
Is there a difference in a TH400 Flexplate and a 700R4 flexplate on a 1982 Chevy 350 engine ? I just swapped the TH400 out of my old 82 Chevy 350 cu.in. Cube van and put in a 1991 700R4. If the torque converter bolted up to a set of holes, then it’s correct.
Is the cover hitting?
@@mountainsgarage Thanks for the super fast reply !
No, nothing seems to be hitting anywhere that I can tell. Was worse a few days ago... Weird !
Real noisy today... I think I gotta pull that trans out and see what is wrong !
Great info. Thanks!

With a stock converter the 4.8 or 6.0 crank spacer and flat flexplate is the best option. Find them in Vans and 2500/3500 trucks.

thank yea i have a 700r4 i hope i can find the right parts
Will 60E last on a 6.0 liter???
GOOD DEAL...SUBBED!

Does the flat flexplate apply to a ls3 mated to a 4l80e?
As far as I now the crank stick out has remained the same, so yes.
I had a dish flywheel on my 09 truck and put a flat one on and stater sounds like shit
The flat flexplate has the factory spacer between it and the crankshaft?
never mind,🙊🙊🙊
?
@@mountainsgarage im just over thinking thing the hub adapter.
@@mountainsgarage @amigo,, whats the part number? Or description ?? Flex plate
