    This is one of my very favorite pens from 2022. I had some problems with other Nahvalur nibs but this one works great. It even does reverse writing smoothly. The resin is gorgeous. Mine worked straight out of the box.
    I had an early Schuylkill when it was first introduced. I was not impressed. This version is a bit wider and heavier and fits better in my hand.
    I haven't removed the nib assembly, yet. Interesting that it is similar to the MaJohn assembly. I have the ebonite Nautilus and it is a friction fit nib and feed. This is an improvement for me.
    Great review, Chris.

    I bought this pen and while I really like the design, the nib has some problems. It hard starts or skips sometimes and writes quite dry. Do you think a brass sheet could help? Or do I have to use micro mesh?

      Do you flush feed before inking? Did you do 7 strokes to happiness? Try a wetter ink?

    So glad to see you having some fun with it! I knew you could tame that nib with your skills. Thanks for another awesome video, Captain!!

    I love the look of narwhal pens, just wish they’d make one that posted deeply and securely

    Another beauty, interesting pen.
    I just got the Hongdian 100 which I bought based on your review. I am impressed. Substantial pen with a fine, smooth nib. Consistent writer.

      I love my HD100! I just with it had a broader nib on it. I could change it, but the nib imprint looks really cool as part of the overall design.

    Nice review, thanks! I own a dragonet and like it, but I’m not able to reassemble the piston. The blind cap stays loose. Couldn’t find any help online. Wondering if anyone else came across this issue.

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  Год назад +2

      You removed piston assembly? Why? If this is like other piston fillers (Pelikan), you'll need to vary attaching piston rod to blind cap, Just a trial & error approach. You could watch my video on Hongdian piston fix for some ideas. ruclips.net/video/teIRzNKVWWM/видео.html

    LOVED THE REVIEW! It is a beauty. They keep improving, which is a compliment to the founders. If I order one, I will likely get a standard grind on the nib. I can tune those, but I am not confident enough to do what you are capable of doing. You also reminded me to dig out the Tomoe River paper, which I think I used only one time. Reason: I write mostly notes and longer documents, so I did not want to use the T.R. Paper. Oh, a last note, I am not a fan of glitter in the resin, but this one seems to be well done. Still processing whether I really need one! Do we ever?I hear you, but your recommendations do influence us, and we are glad they do. I cannot buy everyone you liked, but I am NOT going to buy one you think to be poorly made. You mean a. Lot to all of us!

    Another great review of a beautiful pen. It caused me to make my first pen purchase of 2023. I ordered a medium, and Narwhal mediums write ✍️ closer to broad. I saw the box is going back to the Narwhal name befitting the Narwhal logo, and I prefer it. I haven't received the pen yet, I just ordered it from Goldspot, but I have an ink selected for this beauty. Thanks again.

    An interesting review as usual. I hope that designating Navaluhr and the other Taiwanese brand TWSB as ”chinese” was just a slip of the tongue, and not a sign of you receiving friendly reminders from Xi collaborators.
    When first introduced under the name Narwhal their marketing gave emphasis to their nibs being ”inhouse”. At that point I thought that was a bad translation for ”brand etched” in contrast to ”made in house”.
    Is my initial suspicion judgement currently bolstered by your finding the nib assembly to be the same as Majhon/Moonman’s?

    • @chrisrap52
      @chrisrap52  Год назад +2

      Interesting insights. The could buy the Monnman "Chinese" nib assemblies & put in their nib.

      @@chrisrap52 Just adding to the confusion, I heard David of Figboot on pens, having the impression a Narwhal Schouilkill nib was a ”Jowo nib”.
      I guess I care more than the other guy about provenance, beside the writing experience of course. I’d appreciate a universally greater transparency among all manufacturers about their suppliers etcetera.

    • @chrisrap52

      Did David provide evidence for his nib conclusion? I'm not that concerned about who makes what or what looks like what. To me it's just a pen, do you like it? Does it do what you expect? I show Moonman nib assemblies fit so you could swap nib assemblies.

    Is a nice pen - too bad they changed their name - liked the old one better.
    The new one sounds too close to "No Value" 😅😆

    • @archivist17
      @archivist17 Год назад +3

      It's pronounced exactly the same.

    • @eugenborcan

      @@archivist17 Unfortunately is not... is slightly different - the R is at the end.
      Also meaning is slightly different based on what I read... etymology comes from 2 words "whale corpse" or something like that.
      Is translated as Narwhal from Icelandic, but pronunciation is actually different.
