Another selling point is the fact that an ad agency and salaried workers would create cold content. Using an influencer brings warm leads because our followings know, like, and trust us.

Excellent video Roberto. I think the most important thing is to be prepared to say No....and walk away. Many sponsorships are looking for cheap ways around things like RUclips Premium and offer rates that are quite honestly, insulting and grotesque. Be willing to walk away. Alenating your viewers is not worth the peanuts being offered. Your viewers are worth MORE in the long run. They are paying for YOU, your viewer loyalty, your influence, and your time. Just. Say. No.

I always make sure to ask for the deliverables, the payment rate, and net payment window first. Based on those specific things I'm able to get the most out of the sponsor. And if they're not willing to budge I can go on about my day or they'll ultimately cave and give me what I want.

I once replied to a potential Sponsor asking for all of these things and suddenly they wrote me, that they feel like I am not interested in the product. I told them byebye. Turns out they only "pay" creators with a bunch of their energy drinks and don't want to pay them any money.

Update (as I wrote the above while watching😉): Having watched until the end I'm shocked more creators watch these videos LESS. This is priceless information and in my opinion very beneficial for both individual creators but also the industry so everyone can be paid as well as possible. Thank you for creating this as not only a guide but a reminder of never selling yourself short, Roberto.🤗

I am a very small channel and have some questions about sponsors/brand deals. Are you suppose to reach out to brands or will they eventually reach out to you? And also, idk if you know much about IG paid partnership, but how do I make brand deals on IG?

Thank you for this video. I didn't anticipate having to figure this out getting started, just wanted to make how-to videos for fun and to help people but all of a sudden companies start asking for reviews, "collabs", and sponsorships and a whole new set of challenges are presented. I like the approach of how much would I charge if someone hired me to just make them a video using my "acting" skills, scripting, filming, editing, etc. with the viewer reach as secondary. I've been hung up on my limited reach as small channel and I can wrap my head around charging for my time much better as that is how I handle my "day job" billing.

With a lot of the companies that come to us looking to sponsor content, I have a "F*ck Off Price" that I will ask for that is higher than I expect someone will pay, and you know what happens almost every time? They pay it without blinking. Some of our brand deals have been in the middle 5 figures in the last couple of years, and our audience is just now hitting 65k subs. Always, always ask for more. The worst they can say is no =)

I'd love to connect with you guys. I have a strong following, especially on tiktok (530k), and brands are starting to reach out. As Roberto states, we do tend to price ourselves too low, but I think partially, that's because we have absolutely no idea what the budget is, or what our content is actually worth. I'm sure I'd underprice my content, simply because I have no idea what it's worth. That, to me, is the hardest thing to figure out.

The most important thing I would say is ASK if they are using the video for ads, their socials, website etc. *and exclusivity as you pointed out. The price should be way higher. Think how much would they pay a crew to do what YOU do! This video has great advice making the analogy as a model etc and putting your face on a product. I cringe when I had companies say "contact us when you have 10k followers". I feel like saying people with 10k followers would charge 10 times what I am lol. Good luck with that.

    Very helpful Roberto!
I have recently negotiated my first brand deal with this info in mind. I probably increased what I would have done without the info by 5x.
I would also recommend for creators not get hung up on their subscriber count. It's all about the views you generate.
My channel is generating the same amount of views was other channels that are 10x higher in subscriber count. That speaks to the quality of your content and how you know how to drive people to your videos, which is what the brands want to see.
Also look at your demographics, the older your demographic the more money they have in their pockets to purchase what the brand is selling. Make sure the brand you are negotiating with knows this and tailor your offer based on the demographic your channel is getting.

I didn’t contact you you contacted me…so you can’t tell me what I’m worth. As a creator who is starting to get approached by more brands, I especially liked your point about looking at it from a freelancer or business point of view when being asked to create a video or whatever. What would I charge a client for my services should serve as the baseline for negotiations vs focusing on views and subscribers which would undoubtedly undervalue myself. Nice job. 👍
