My thought to all creators is to also remember like Austen mentioned these brands are billion and maybe even trillion dollar companies and they will pay the bare minimum if we LET THEM. Charge for your TIME and your WORTH. Don't be shy or timid. There is plenty of money for us all to make some really good money. Best to us ALL. Let's get what we work hard for.
Preach Austen! Collectively , we need to stop working for cheap. This is so similar to the occupational dilemma musicians face because the hiring parties think it’s ok to low ball you because you’re doing what you love already. Tom Brady loves what he does (did) too, but he doesn’t come cheap! 😁
I seriously can’t thank you enough for your videos. You make everything so clear and concise and understandable. There are so many details going into content creation and working with brands and in my campaigns that i do and it’s nice to finally know and understand the definitions of certain things! Crazy to think that I’ve been working with brands without even really knowing how usage rights work. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for creating this video series, Austen! This has been illuminating and helpful! I'm feeling more confident as I navigate my first steps into the world of paid content creation and your guidance is invaluable! Wishing you the best.
SIS thank you for saving me. I feel like a ding-dong. I've done awesome videos for people for $200....which is why I'm hearing learning my value. Thank You!
Thank you for this video Austen! This was really valuable information and you had great examples as well to make it easy to understand. I have a question however, you mentioned examples on when to charge more, for example exclusivity, peak seasons, cross-posting etc. When you say to charge more, do you mean an overall flat fee, or do you mean per post, the baseline amounts you mentioned at the beginning?
Thank you so much for sharing!! Curious to know how much you would charge if a brand asks to whitelist your post, or if they want to use your content in paid ads?
thanks! So I do actually talk about usage in the video and share my thoughts around how to price for usage (start around 7:16) but as I mentioned at the beginning, rates will vary from creator to creator so I am unable to give you a specific number.
Thank you so much! Im currently saving for some equipment for the ideas I have and hopefully working with brands one day and this has helped. Thank you!
Just found your channel and I'm really enjoying how clear and easy you make this whole process for new beginners like myself. I feel more confident going forward when I get my first brand deal going. Thanks so much for the clear instructions and be so transparent with us. 😇
Thank you for all of the information. I watched a previous video and used your 12 month strategy to negotiate promotional video rights for a monthly fee.
Hi Austen, great advise you have shared on this video, I am an aspiring influencer on home interior design as that is where my passion is and as I am still working on creating content and my scheduled time for launching is 2023 Q1, I was wondering if you can advise me on how to go about it especially to gain market share.
I'm an influencer specialist who deals with many influencers every day. There's no company that will pay $500 for people who have like 2k followers on TikTok.
I have 29k followers, I get easy 50k views per post and my live streaming is the most popular. I currently charge 300$ for 4 vidéos with 50k views warrantie. I have 151 patreon and 100 Twitch Subs and 100 Tik Tok Subs average. I manage to make a living. What do you think 😁 Thanks!
Could you please do a video on affiliate marketing but deeper, like how to track of all your programs for tax time as no one has done a video on that. You ofc don't gave to that!
Hi! I do have a video where I do a deep dive on affiliates you can watch here: ruclips.net/video/Rj8WxcMTb5M/видео.html I don't cover taxes in that video but the best advice I have is to track your monthly earnings and income from affiliates so you can share it with an accountant when you go to file. Thanks for watching!
I just got my first offer to review something Amazon. It is my first one. They wan to see my rate card. They want a minute and a half video. What do I charge? And do you have any advice on a total beginner nano influencer? Love your video by the way.
Well everyone is different! In my experience I find I am often leaving money on the table or brands take the rates at face value and then try to sneak in things like usage rights, exclusivity etc. all of which costs more and then they blame the rate card. I prefer to send them a custom quote and that’s worked well for me over the years. I can only speak for myself though and you can use your judgment of what is best for you 💕
I tried charging higher prices and couldn’t even get brands to accept me. Why would they when they can find someone to do it cheaper or for free? At only 13k followers with engagement all over the place, I really am in a pickle.
I completely relate, I often have brands tell me I’m way out of budget. The biggest difference maker for me has been establishing long term relationships with these brands who understand my professional background and the quality of content which makes the rate more worth it to them. But this is also why I started other revenue streams outside of brand deals to not feel like I have to accept low ball offers. Frustrating when many still prioritize follower count and not all other factors!
If a brand is requesting UGC and rights to own the content forever. Would you recommend still capping it at 12 months. Or a custom fee for “forever” useage rights. I currently have one pending and they’re asking to own the content which means forever. I’m on the fence about that for obvious reasons! 😅
Hello! I would definitely advise avoiding perpetual (forever) usage. The big reason is there's really no way to price it - it's impossible to predict that brand's growth, where the market is at in terms of supply and demand and so on. Not to mention sometimes brands get bought/sold under new ownership, have scandals from higher-ups and even if it's your favorite brand now, it's hard to picture a scenario where it would be worth it to give them that perpetual usage. I'd send them a rate for 12 months of usage and say that's as high as you're able to go. Hope this helps!

It's interesting how you said don't share your rate card as others I have found have said the opposite.

And no, I don’t think my content is fabulous yet, but I am also not NEARLY the worst and I have improved considerably since I began.
I completely relate, I often have brands tell me I’m way out of budget. omg thank you for this, is this the same now in 2024 .Here I'm thinking I can't ask for $200 lol
I was on TikTok over 50K on beauty products for men. Only small brands we’re interested but just for free products. I can’t charge any money.
Sounds like you just haven’t found brands who appreciate your value yet. But you will! I’ve been paid on TikTok with 20k followers.
