    Great video I love the 8.2 Detroit diesel. Especially the later models and if they rebuilt right you can get a lot of life outta em

      The former owner of this truck complained that it was a bit under-powered despite the reliability.

    That thing is nearly as quiet as a modern diesel...that is really impressive!

      Yeah the 8.2Ls use unit injectors like the 2 strokes did before it... as old school as it gets. No injection pump just a low pressure rail to the injectors that cycles back to the fuel tank.

    I assume it’s naturally aspirated?

      It's non turbo. Look closely behind air canister if it was turbo I'm back of the valley is where you would see the turbo.

      @@marlborodemoura1377 around 140-165 hp.... so not much, even a 6.2 can make that much with a turbo less efficiently though I guess. With a turbo they make upto 250hp.

    8.2 Detroits sound a tad like 6.2 Detroits. I wonder why... 😁

      8.2L is kind of a halfway point between the 2 strokes and the 6.2..... the 6.2 has an injection pump but the 8.2 continues to use unit injectors like the 53/71/92 series does. I think it would have been great if the tech had continued and they had developed further variability. Of course now with electronic injectors we can do stratified injection with layers of fuel and air (many injector pulses per stroke)
