I bought a 1990 GMC 7000, 4 1/2 ton truck. It has the 8.2 liter detroit diesel, four stroke. It has a six speed manual trans and a single speed rear end. Retired dump truck
You’ve got some great old Gimmy trucks . Fix them up and you’ve got a solid machine for whatever job you need to do , they are built for the long haul. American Iron All the Way !
I was gonna turn it into my welding/service truck, but since it would be used commercially, I'd have to get a cdl. Dont really feel like doing that, so I sold the 7000. The 5000 gmc was for parts. I'm using the 350 in it for my c30. Traded the allison for a mini ex. I've put an nv4500 behind the 350 to go in the c30. But its a LONG ways from going down the road.
Apparently they made quite a few with the 4 stroke detroits. From what I've read the early ones were junk. And the newer ones were only better by a few more head bolts. Haha.
And are you looking for hi perfomance cam and lifters? Because I'm pretty sure they dont exist for it. But if you have the 366 gas or other gas big block, then yes, you can get cam and lifters for those through summit

Man. Up here in Canada most of the motors were 366 and 427 gas. I never saw a diesel. Thanks for posting.

@TyeManning depends alot on location, which engine, interior, etc. Lots of factors
What is the gross vehicle weight on a 7000 series
I wanna say that one was 22500 or close to that, but they vary depending on what they were setup for. I think some went up to 30k gvwr
