My Rega Planar 3 tracking dial does not stay at zero, if I set it to zero it turns by itself until it eventually comes to rest at about 1.5 sometimes it will keep moving even beyond that. Is this a faulty turntable or is there a way to prevent or fix that?

I just leave it running until I am done listening. No need to turn it off every time you flip the record. Turning it on and off all the time can do more damage to the motor. Don't worry about the turntable and just enjoy the music.
This will work, 4 sure. But there is much more accuracy, if you do it like Rega say in their manuals. The arm should float 1mm above the record SURFACE, and this is important to understand here. When i see set-up vd's on-line regarding Rega decks, no one uses this method with a blank sided record, which is the safest way to do the job as Rega suggest. I have a blank sided Record and use it for setting up tonearms on various Rega decks. The accuracy is so much more easy to get right this way, as the floating itself has some flaws (imo). But the way showing here works fine, but is not that accurate. Cheers
There are different thickness of records as well. This is not as easy as it seems. Best way is to use your ears and gradually lower the counterweigh from example 1.75 down to 1.74, 1.73, 1.72 etc. till you get that "wow!".
Rega turntables have never had a separate ground cable They put it on one channel of the audio cable and believe it sounds better that way. Thanks for watching
This turntable probably was not level because when the arm had zero downforce, it moved to the right , back to the armrest position. If it was perfectly level, it would not have moved. Recommend a bubble level to set this up. The 330 arm is very good because it uses dynamic VTF and anti-skate. It also has the three-point mounting of cartridges that is more stable and rigid than a typical 2 point cartridge. Think of a two-legged stool. I have not seen a static balance arm that I would want all other things being equal. The biggest problem with all fixed plinth TT, not just the REGA, is acoustic breakthrough. The narrator alludes to this. Thus it is best to have the TT mounted on a wall shelf preferably in another room. With box speakers having it in an equipment rack between the speakers is a no-no. One either requires a floating sub-chassis turntable or one of those mega-bucks TT that weigh 300lbs. Minimizing acoustic breakthrough, especially if you are using sub-woofers and the like, is extremely important - you can actually get howling noises and so-forth.
There is an "offset" antiskate force on RB330 which is active even when antiskating is set to 0. That is why the arm moved towards the armrest position.
Pro-Ject now has some automatic turntables, but we still prefer a good manual one for the best performance for the money. Thanks for watching and commenting
P3 wiring is slightly unusual in that the arm tube is grounded via the left channel ground wire so there is no earth wire to connect back at the preamp.
Thanks for the reply. What does this mean? By “what”, I mean to ask, what happens if you don’t attach the ground wire, against what happens if you do?
