Seems like a lot of work! Just call the ECM and pass the cost down to the customer when it’s not 😉. Sad to see that that’s still a standard practice at most shops. Great job on following the right steps!
Hey man, I just wanted to express my appreciation for your work in and on this video. This will be common among these vans in the future as they age as there is no place to hook jumper cable ground for the normal person to see. I purchased a 2021 Sienna Hybrid from IAAI and received it and got all of these same codes. Only moved a short distance under hybrid power. But, to my surprise I purchased a used ECM from a yard, installed it and it fired right up. No programming needed! I was shocked by this as so many PCMs are tied to vin and security these days. I cracked mine open and it was identical to your ecm inside. Cheers and thank you again!
Went to diesel school for free but haven’t really used it since I switched careers. Thanks for showing the diagnostics since I have a 2021 sienna too! Great that I can still follow along too! Subbed!!
I feel Snap On generally has the least coverage compared to an Autel or launch scan tool. But sometimes, it comes through as the only one that works. That's why I bought a used, cheaper model instead of the Zeus. It's not my go too but I have it when I need it.
Awesome video! Yea totally agree with on having multiple scan tools. Wish the topdon had more straightforward options for entering in vehicles manually. Thanks for sharing!
FYI the reason he saw the same issue with the launch and top Don is because they are essentially the same tool, topdon is a launch clone. I've done a video on the truth about scantools.. Great diag btw👍🏾
Topdon & launch run same software that’s why it didn’t work. Launch and thinkcar buy from same manufacturer and thinkcar sells to topdon. Both are back on autoauth finally too for those that don’t know.
People are saying there is a TSB for this happening when you boost it near the ecm. I could not find it in All data or Mitchell. Thanks for watching! I really enjoy all your video's!
I believe that has possibly been caused by a jump start via "hot point" in that fuse box but the neg/earth connection was on the metal bracket for that ECM. Just had an alert regarding these. Hope that helps. Cheers.
Boy I tell ya,crazy how hard it can be working on cars today!! It only going to get worse!! Thanks my friend for another great video!! Your channel is doing great, better than mine, lol!!
I wasn't shorting it, I was putting the positive lead of my scope on Can H and the negative lead on CAN L. So what I would see on the screen is the Can H minus Can L. Which is what the computer looks at. It's the same thing as setting up a math channel on the Pico A-B.
I didn't really have a way to test that with the car not starting unless I would spend hours checking every solenoid. I also only found the PCM burnt after I put a new one in already. I suspect someone messed around trying to boost it because since it's a hybrid it's not as simple to boost.
@@advancedleveldiagnostics the issue with boosting them is the bracket that holds the ecm in place seems to be a very good place to put your ground cable and it fries it. Toyota says to move the ground as far away from the ecm as possible. look on the bracket i be you see signs that it arced.

That's awesome, Thanks for sharing!
6K Worth of scan tools just to communicate with the car. Insane. Great vid as always bud.
Thanks 👍

Glad to help!
Where did u learn everything man you diagnosed skills are on mad scientist level keep up the good videos
I know you've been asked a thousand times but would snap on be one of your top rated scanners for all makes across the board.

Ye I agree, when I put the used PCM in it pulled the vin instantly.

I don't see topdon back on the list yet😢
Great diag and fix 👊🏻
Thanks!
thank you for your time
Fried ECM on a 2021 Toyota?? Wow. Wonder if that was user error like a reverse polarity jump start? Crazy!

I know of a few sienna hybrids with fried ecm after jump starting
Never heard of one in other hybrids

Thanks! seems like that's what happened.
Nice job..!
Thanks!
Good diag yet again, do you have a link for the terminal test kit and test lead set you had in the background? Thanks!

Good call amigo
Great diag sir.thx for sharing 👏 👍🏿 cheers

Thanks Jeff, Your channel is doing great too!
Awesome
What was your logic and reason for shorting the can Hi and low signal to ground for your testing?
I wasn't shorting it, I was putting the positive lead of my scope on Can H and the negative lead on CAN L. So what I would see on the screen is the Can H minus Can L. Which is what the computer looks at. It's the same thing as setting up a math channel on the Pico A-B.
Ok I see now I guess I was just confused
@@advancedleveldiagnostics that is a great tip. I had not thought of that.
So no NASTF account needed when you used Techstream for the security key?
It didn't ask for any form.
Hi, I just want to ask if did you try or is it okay use hantek amp clamp on that oscilloscope that you use?
I've never tried, but I can't see why it wouldn't work.
Nice
Thanks!
A1 content 😮
Thanks!
I bought a used Modis Ulltra off my snap on guy for $295. It was a repo with 22.4 update
Wow that's a great deal! I paid 1,500 for mine.
No solenoids drawing too many amps burning out engine computer?
I didn't really have a way to test that with the car not starting unless I would spend hours checking every solenoid. I also only found the PCM burnt after I put a new one in already. I suspect someone messed around trying to boost it because since it's a hybrid it's not as simple to boost.

that's going the extra mile in prying open the dead ECM
Sometimes curiosity just wins 😀
@@advancedleveldiagnostics I thought the saying went "curiosity kills the cat"😁
old cars or van new cars can make plastic junk never no when cars stop not running old cars find easy to work

You got me, next time I'll have to fake a video on a Nissan so it will be more believable😅
