The final part in my multipart series on the sample flight for the Majestic Software sim of Bombardier's Dash-8 Q400 In this video, I cover the approach and landing.
Well done. Watching the video allowed me .to pick up on a few mistakes I have been making ie not arming the approach on the FMS. Keep up the the good work
Excellent Q400 videos. Used to fly the Q400 all the time, been away from it for about 1 1/2 years, and getting back into it again for flying on Vatsim. It is a great aircraft.
I always enjoy your videos... Great Channel. Thank you for sharing with the flight sim community! Thumbs Up! And as always, anxiously awaiting more of your vids.
thanks you bro i was flying the airbus and boeing and sometimes the md80 but this dash8 fms took me crazy really to understand how it works , thank you sir a lot , and i had new information ; the acceleration altitude ; , god bless you brother .
Thank you so much, using this series of videos I just completed my first fully Ifr flight from Cardiff to Heathrow, using a BOVVA (Stupid I know) arrival and full ILS. I thought Ifr would be boring but not one point in that flight did I skip forward or was I bored. Fantastic! Love the airplane, love the video series. Much appreciated. I shall be doing a lot more Ifr in the future now
Thank you so much this has helped me a great deal as the manual is rather awful and impossible to follow. Please keep up this RUclips thing - you are very good at it!!
Have learned a lot from your videos; you take your time and this is superb for the learner! Good Work! I have a question. When you set your TOD/VNAV PATH does the aircraft start the descent automatically or you initiate the descent ! Thanks once again
Lovely landing and a great demonstration. I haven't had much time with the Dash 8 Pro. How does it compare to the original in your opinion? Cheers, Rich
+flightsim481 Thanks, Rich. I find the sim much more responsive to manual inputs and that makes it more fun for me to fly manually. The HGS is, I think, a wonderful addition and I hope to leverage that more in the future. As to the ability to pop individual circuit breakers, I can't see that being of any value to most simmers. However, I suspect that those taking simming more seriously (Motto: "It's a sim, not a game") or those doing it professionally (Motto: "Will this reduce my training cost in real aircraft") may find this to be a hugely welcome addition. And then, of course, there's the shared cockpit element. Something which you and I hope to exercise soon!
+MrCobolman No worries. Wonder if you can help me as well. When I select HDG SEL and then switch to the ILS Nav my Dash 8 always seems to go weird and decide it needs to climb. Pitch Hold does appear as well and it was following the VNAV Path properly. Has happened a few times and cant for the life of me figure out why.
I'm not sure off the top of my head. I'd recommend having a look at the excellent documentation that comes with the Q400. I do recall seeing something about VNAV being activated when certain other modes are engaged but I don't know enough to advise.
Assuming that this aircraft sim falls squarely into the "a sim not a game" category. Would you subjectively say its top of the pile? Obviously I appreciate that without an ATPL type rating on the aircraft its not possible to judge absolutely. In my own quest to subjectively find the ultimate aircraft on the "ideal" platform (XPlane or P3dv3), I am comparing the "top contenders". Another one poped up yesterday, but its on XPlane, so the "deserted runway syndrome" rears its head. Not to mention the alternative flight physics? My quest may perhaps be described as "in pursuit of an untamed ornithoid"?Thanks for the video, I am still awaiting the "non beta" release for P3dv3, but look forward to further flights from yourself:-)
+MrCobolman Certainly appears that way. We are seeing a real upsurge in high fidelity Sims for XPlane now. The Saab, 767 and soon the IXEG 737. Since I am with both P3dv3 and XP, I am not seeing much for the LM sim? There is only the Aerosoft Airbus and NGX that's representative if hi fi big iron! Perhaps you are going to take a look at the 767? :-)
For the approach I would like to recommend the following flow: SPU &PTU ON, Flap 5, LDG Down, Flap 15, CL Max Bleed Min Off and Landing CL.
Well done. Watching the video allowed me .to pick up on a few mistakes I have been making ie not arming the approach on the FMS. Keep up the the good work
+Andy Daigneault Thanks, Andy.
Hi, I've been flying the Dash8 pro since release, m y absolute favourite aircraft. Very nice video, always worth reminding yourself of the basics.
+David Hack Thanks for your support.

+Mercury OneOne That's exceptionally kind. Thanks much.

I'm glad you're enjoying both the videos and the hobby
Another great video as it was thoroughly enjoyable. I always look forward to your videos supplies continue the great work!!! Thank for sharing.

Thanks for taking the time to write and for your kind comment, James.
Very well explained and guided. Thanks
This plane is really tricky to fly with hands. Well done!
Why DUAL FD mode not switch on? I tried it and it works from time to time. Idk why 😔
Very nicely done. Thanks.

As long as your selected navigation source is "LNAV" you may press the "VNAV" button, and the aircraft will intersect the descent path automatically.
the reason it brings you to the left is because that's where the middle of the runway was before the scenery.
t/d smooth like butter :)
Are you the one with REDANT OBSIDIAN channel?
Your voice sounds soooo familiar to the voice on that channel.
what is the difference between the pilot and pro version?
Lovely landing and a great demonstration.

I haven't. Thanks for the tip!
How did you tune in the ils course and frequency
Great video thanks :)
+razalom66 Thank you.

+David Herky Hi David. In my opinion, the Dash8 Q400 is the best turboprop aircraft available on FSX.
+MrCobolman Certainly appears that way. We are seeing a real upsurge in high fidelity Sims for XPlane now. The Saab, 767 and soon the IXEG 737. Quick question, are you in FSX or P3Dv3 for this video?
+Ranger79Productions Neither :) It's P3D v2.5
Thanks for the quick response, great video series!
Hi Stephen - I'm afraid I don't use vatsim so cannot advise. If I were you though, I'd be inclined simply to try it and see what happens.
