Great video! At about 4:20 you mention that the blade counterweights will move the blade to a fine pitch but aren't the counterweights there to move it to coarse pitch and ideally feather the propeller in case of loss of oil pressure?
Unfortunately for me, you are correct. I thought the Q400 propeller was different, but upon rereading the material twice, it turns out it is fairly conventional. It won't make it all the way to fully feathered on the counterweights alone, but they do move it towards feather. The aerodynamic force on the blade will balance out and hold it somewhere near but not quite feathered. Oil pressure is still needed to force the propeller to the fully feathered position. Now I feel that I will need to correct the video at some point. I hate to spread erroneous information. Thank you, though. If you find other errors, please do let me know. These are solo projects. Its sometimes hard to fully error check a project when you are so close to it.
I recently moved to from jet engin to turboprop acft in sim and so fortunate to found your videos .thanks
