As a gen1 tundra owner, your videos are the best! Wish more youtubers were like you. That being said, I think you might even be too humble, watched one of your videos and realized it was too much for me to do and rather just take it too a mechanic. Can't remember which one though
Goodyears get louder, I had the Duratracs and they wore down but going louder. Of course nothing beats a set of Nitto Mud Grappler & Ironman All Country M/Ts... those drowned out the radio at 65 MPH 😆
Came across your channel recently man, really good content, I just bought my grandfather’s 2000 tundra with 41k miles on it, doing some upgrades to it and you have been a big help!
Finally found a review focusing on noise, comfort and ride quality. I am also looking for an all terrain to replace the oem tyres. My criteria are noise and ride quality, as most of my driving is on sealed roads. Here in Australia roads aren't exactly smooth. I will definitely consider the Falken as a replacement. Thanks for your honest review.
Yeah, I think this will be my choice for my 5th gen 4Runner. The new Wildpeak at4w looks great, but I don’t do enough off-roading to justify the added cost/discomfort.
Have 275/70r18 on order for my Silverado. Get them installed Wednesday. Have heard good things (and again here in your video) so I'm looking forward to getting them on. Thanks for the video!
@@JTADVENTURE2 Walmart. Price was equal or less than others plus road hazard service at any Walmart nationwide. Our local Walmart has a tire guy that knows what he’s doing and takes pride in his work.
@@mark12.31 thank you for the information much appreciated. What Walmart did you go to? Thinking this might be my next set of tires. I have a 2021 tundra.
I've been using these for a year or two on my Montero and have been happy with them in all conditions. I have 31" LT tires and they had a ton of tread, and a harder compound that the P tires so they still have a long while to go.
The video tells the tale! I have the Kanati Armor Hog and I'm definitely looking for a better riding, quieter tire. This is more in line to my current lifestyle.
Thanks for posting this. There are not a lot of reviews out there on these tires. As luck would have it, I had researched these and 2 other tires for the last month and I ended up ordering a set of Rubitreks this morning for my 2020 Tundra. They were also a better price (and hopefully value) compare to the Wildpeak A/T3's. PLEASE post updates of your experience with these tires as you put more and more mileage on them and as you try them in different weather conditions and terrain.
Update: I've got almost 10k on these tires and they have been great so far. They balanced very well, they are wearing just a tad less than 1/32 every 5K (which is very good). I have driven them in snow about 1-2 feet deep, ice, on logging and low maintenance roads (gravel, rock, ruts) and in open pasture and slightly muddy conditions (they're not mud tires, but did okay for an A/T). When new they were rock collectors the first 2k miles, but that has went away. I drive about 60% highway and 40% off-road as described. I'll be putting these on my 4runner when the time comes. Also when I purchased these they were $222 / tire and the Falken AT3's were $297/ tire.
Yeah I was definitely considering them too, but wanted to give rubitreks a try because they're a little less well-known and wanted to share my experience with them! Thanks for watching!
Not sure you will ever see this but one thing I noticed is common with both you and Tyler. The shop that (from what I could see) mounted your tires did so INCORRECTLY. The yellow paint spot is the manufacturer's indicator for the lightest point around the tire. This yellow mark SHOULD be mounted at the valve stem point. This is an aid for balancing.
Yep, I appreciate the heads up and I was also frustrated to see that they mounted them incorrectly. It should help reduce the number of wheel weights needed too if mounted properly. Thanks for watching!
These do look like great tires. I put the AT Trail's on my wife's CUV (Eclipse Cross). Really great for all conditions. I have Wrangler Duratrac tires on my FJ Cruiser (and I've had them on 3 past Jeeps. They do great offroad, and on road all conditions, great in winter too!). I just put Duratrac's on like 5k miles ago. So I have some time before needing new tires. But, I am really into the Falken tires now. I'll be putting ZE950's on my Civic soon too.
My Goodyear duratrac ride smooth and quiet, I keep the air pressure set and tires rotation and they wear really good. A little bit slick on take off in the rain but not terrible.
Traded in my 2006 Tundra for a new Tacoma in 2016, really miss that V8 except at the gas pump. In 2023 I replaced the crappy original stock tires on the Tacoma with the Rubitreks and upsized to 265/75R16, I couldn't find much info or reviews about the tires but the price was much less than all highly recommended tires. My wheels rarely leave the pavement except for a few miles of maintained logging roads to hunting camp. I really liked the way the Rubitreks look on my truck, aggressive but not ridiculous, I'm certainly no expert but the ride is quite, steering is responsive and stops are short. After a month I liked the Rubitreks so much I replaced the tires on the winter rims for the Taco with them and they did just fine in the snow this winter. After 10 months driving on these tires I'm still very pleased but only time will tell if I made the right decision.
Glad to hear it, I've been really liking mine so far too. I wasn't sure if I was going to like how they looked, but I think I like them more than the wranglers that I took off. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for posting this bro, I changed my mind on the Goodyears and went with some cooper discovers, 50k mile warranty from Walmart and just a bit cheaper too🙏🏽🙏🏽 subbing to you
That's an awesome truck. I've got a 2007 FJ and just installed Rubitreks. they feel great. I had wildpeak at3s..solid tire, but my truck is a paven maven. And the Rubs are 40 bucks less per tire.
Been on the fence between buying a set of Falken Rubitreks or Nitto Recon grapplers. After seeing this video and listening to the info you've shared I'm going to order a set of rubitreks. Seems like the best option for mostly driving on-road with the occasional off-road adventure. Thanks for the info!
Sharp truck man. I've witnessed this from many Goodyear A/T style tires and esp from their MT's. noisy and even noisier when they start to wear. Never been a fan of GY tires bc of this. I've owned many styles over the years and never had a L/T style or any A/T tire sound like that with wear. Your tires looked feathered but shesh that roaring is next level. Been looking at the Rubitreks, you may have sold me for my next set!
I can hear these guys with their lifted trucks and mud tires coming down the road from quite a ways. I don't know how they can stand the noise. I hope those Rubitreks get more good reviews.
Yes I had the Goodyear Auth in the LT265/75r16 C rated and they held up great but went to a Hankook ATM P tire as its a better street tire with some offroad ability. They were so smooth and quiet, truck felt like it had some get up and go again. 2018 Tacoma here.
Nice, yeah I think it's important to recognize what you're actually using the truck for and if you don't need crazy knobby tires, the street oriented ones will serve you much better. Thanks for watching!
10:55 man this is such a true feeling. It seems silly till you've experienced it personally! Anyways great review, I am a 1st gen owner myself but it is 2WD unmodified daily. I bought it with 76k, it has 98k now. I'm looking at these tires for my Jeep though, which takes all of the off-road abuse. Appreciate the time and effort you put into this video!
I had GY Wrangler Territory on my Sierra, and same thing, I avoided driving my truck the cupping was so bad. I rotate every oil change (6K-7Kmi), but they cupped very quickly. Changed at 30K miles to Cooper AT3, and love my truck again. Might try the Falken next set.
Really, wow. That makes me feel a bit better that I wasn't the only one to run into that issue. I considered the Coopers, and may go for them next. Thanks for watching!
Hi. Fellow Tundra owner here. The increased noise from the tires was due to not rotating them. I try to rotate my tires every oil change. Every 5000 miles. 🙏🏻
Do you know how similar the tread pattern would be to say a Goodyear All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar? I had these tires on my 4runner before switching to the Wildpeaks and had zero issues with them. I'm currently running a set of the new AT4W's and I've been having a rough time with them. I'm okay with the noise and vibrations as it's a more aggressive tire, but Toyota, Mavis, and the original tire shop that installed them can't get them balanced correctly. I reached out to Falken and they were willing to work with me and those tire shops. They're willing to do a warranty claim and replace them even with a different model tire. I'm highly considering the Rubitreks to replace the AT4Ws. Or possibly just the HT/02, but am worried it might not be aggressive enough for some lighter off roading.
Thanks for the review! Looking really close at the Rubitreks and the Wildpeak AT3W. I live in the country and it is dirt and gravel road before you hit the freeway, so both on road and off road performance is vital. Currently running Cooper AT3, which is pretty good, just wanted something better like you said.
Curious which way you went and how they compare to the Coopers - I'm considering the Cooper's (the new at3 4s) and the Rubitrek. Is there a noise difference?
@@daveharris39 I ended up getting the Wildpeak AT4W. Very good tires. I would highly recommend the Coopers AT3s now that I have experience with other tires. I don’t think there is a better tire that balance on road ride comfort, low noise, fuel efficiency and good enough off road traction than the cooper. Only drawback with the cooper is mud. But Im selling my farm so I no longer have to worry about that.
Just got rid of my goodyears. Love my Ram but hated the tires. I'm only a week in with the Rubitreks but so much quieter! I rotate very often. Had 60 K on the goodyears. Lets see how long these last
Great review brother! The comparison is drastic! Looking at these tires myself. Or the new Wildpeak AT/4. Amazing how much difference a set of tires make on the driving experience. Tires are the only thing making contact with the ground attached to the vehicle, so yeah pretty important! Haha
Nice video man! Got a 3rd gen Tacoma that I Offroad and have cooper rugged treks and love those as well, not too noisy or horrible gas mileage, but ordering a set of these to try out with my other set! Also live in Wisconsin so hopefully they do ok in snow!! Cheers!
Believe it or not, these tyres are sold in the UK as the ATW3A and they don't sell the North America ATW3 version here. The version here has the NA ATW3 sidewall, with the NA Rubitrek tread pattern. I am going to buy some for my Land Rover shortly once I have the smaller version of my OEM wheels.
Hey appreciate the video how are the tires doing for you....I just put mine on a 3rd gen tacoma only have 100 miles on them feel great only on highway doing 70mph noticed them to be little louder and little loose but not sure if that's cause they have to work in cause everyone says they are great and grip great on the highway....thank you
Cupping due to not rotating. If you do mostly city driving rotate every 5k-6k. Highway you can go as long as 10k per rotation. I use Discount Tire they rotate for free but they do charge for balancing.
Man when i put my new wranglers on i too thought the truck didnt coast like it did. Almost as if there was a brake caliper sticking. I was like man am i imagining this sht lol. Na, definitely a difference in how easily they roll. Bit of a bummer as i dont like my truck working harder than it needs to, but is what it is.
Hope the Falken's work out for you Sal. I have a set of Falken AT3W's and I'm not impressed! Thread wore out super quick. Still have them though cause tires are expensive nowadays. Need to get my money out of them lol. Your Goodyear's sound like a flat tire with the windows down lol. Keep up the good videos
Michelin ltx all day for noise and traction. Had a tacoma which is basically your truck shrunk 25%. Drove a tundra and was like this is all the same just slightly bigger.
I just finished watching 208Tyler then found your review. Will look into them. Most of time is driving to a campground then go off-road. I just want a good tire for trails and mild off-road. Not into the technical rock crawling stuff.
Of course your Goodyears were louder They are actual AT tires, whereas the Falkens are really a street/road pattern. And yes, you do have to rotate tires regularly. My Goodyears are very quiet. Any a/t tire would sound like that after 40K w/o rotation.
Im getting a set of Falken Rubitrek A/T on my 2021 Ram 1500 Classic today size 26570R17 size recommended by Ram if anyone wants me to do a video on them let me know I would be happy to do so
I have a BFgoodrich AT and one of my tires got a nail on the side wall and once that comes off that tire is done 🤦🏽♂️ I want new ones but the threads are good and I should just get another BFgoodrich tire 😬 mines are LT285/70R16 116/1130
Hey Sal, I love watching your vids, even thou I drive a gen two 04 Tacoma many of your tips have helped me upgrade my truck, Now I'd like to pass on a cosmetic tip to you, a soft rub with a green scuff pad and some 2k gloss clear spray paint will make all of the black molding and trim on your truck look a whole lot better Bro. !!!
Ok sweet, thanks for the tip! I've been playing around with some ideas and I want to make a video at some point here. But I want to find a method that works well, and this might be a contender. Thanks for watching
The noise is clearly a result of not rotating tires and/or unequal brake pressure between tires. Any tire, especially traction tires, will do the same if treated that way.
I'm happy with how they handle, they have a little more give than the wranglers which is nice. In the rain they feel good, nothing mind blowing but not dangerous feeling either. Thanks for watching!
Liked the video. But confusing since your compare the Goodyears after them being 40k miles already to a brand new tire. Not sure how that compares. It’s like used tire with 40k miles vs brand new tire. Of course the brand new tire is going to feel better. Would like an update when the tires get to 40k miles then compare them.
I live in Lexington. Hoping to make a video of my Tundra at some point to just give the backstory behind it if nothing else. Just replaced the two rear shocks, still need to replace the front shocks and hopefully out a leveling kit on it
I get around 15mpg around town and it stretches up to 17ish on a strictly highway drive. Not great, but not much worse than before the lift kit and tires. Thanks for watching!
Cupped tires (which is what you had) are also caused by bad shocks. Saw your other videos and saw you installed bilsteins not too long ago and you had those Goodyear for almost 40k? That was your problem. You struts
Ooh, I'm not sure man. It's in really good condition but I does have 240k miles, I was thinking 8-10k, especially considering the new tires and other maintenance I've done. Thanks for watching!
lol I can't imagine it being much louder than what I had. My ears would be ringing after driving on the highway haha. I'm sure there's louder out there though! Thanks for watching
Of course thr Bad Year Stranglers were loud. They are Walmart exclusive junk from BadYear. Just be happy they're round, black, and have a hole in the middle. They are the lowest grade of construction to be DOT approved, most likely Chinese made junk. Great farm truck tires cuz they're cheap and they're cheap for a reason.

Great video.. helped me pull the trigger on these for my 21 4Runner ! Thank you
Glad to hear it, thanks for watching!
very good comparison for tirers, thanks for the video
Believe it or not, these tyres are sold in the UK as the ATW3A and they don't sell the North America ATW3 version here. The version here has the NA ATW3 sidewall, with the NA Rubitrek tread pattern. I am going to buy some for my Land Rover shortly once I have the smaller version of my OEM wheels.
Interesting. Thanks for the info!
Hey appreciate the video how are the tires doing for you....I just put mine on a 3rd gen tacoma only have 100 miles on them feel great only on highway doing 70mph noticed them to be little louder and little loose but not sure if that's cause they have to work in cause everyone says they are great and grip great on the highway....thank you
Are you going to do a follow up on your Rubitrecks?
Yep, will do! Waiting to hit like 20k to have them broken in a little more. Thanks for watching
Those GYs are hybrid (more aggressive than ATs), so they’ll be much louder than an AT like the Rubitrek.
Cupping due to not rotating. If you do mostly city driving rotate every 5k-6k. Highway you can go as long as 10k per rotation. I use Discount Tire they rotate for free but they do charge for balancing.
Nice to know, I'll probably have them rotate for me next time. Saves me the hassle. Thanks for watching!
Yup, haha those treads on the wranglers are pretty aggressive! Thanks for watching
Ah bummer to hear that you didn't have great luck with the falkens, hoping these serve me well. Thanks for watching!
Michelin ltx all day for noise and traction. Had a tacoma which is basically your truck shrunk 25%. Drove a tundra and was like this is all the same just slightly bigger.
Yeah makes sense! Thanks for watching
I just finished watching 208Tyler then found your review.
Will look into them. Most of time is driving to a campground then go off-road. I just want a good tire for trails and mild off-road. Not into the technical rock crawling stuff.
Yeah I think these would be a great solution. They ride great on road and are decently aggressive for off road too. Thanks for watching
Of course your Goodyears were louder They are actual AT tires, whereas the Falkens are really a street/road pattern. And yes, you do have to rotate tires regularly. My Goodyears are very quiet. Any a/t tire would sound like that after 40K w/o rotation.
Yeah, definitely learned my lesson there haha. Thanks for watching!
How often should you rotate them?
@@blakenasser7166every 5k miles, basically every time you get an oil change
Falkens are a street/road tire?
@@operationNOBO Those particular ones are.
Im getting a set of Falken Rubitrek A/T on my 2021 Ram 1500 Classic today size 26570R17 size recommended by Ram if anyone wants me to do a video on them let me know I would be happy to do so
Yes please! I have a 2015 Ram, same tire size. Looking at the Rubitreks too.
@@papageo5 I will do that for your I can say that I'm really happy with them low road noise and no problems doing 80 mph
Where did you buy them?
I have a BFgoodrich AT and one of my tires got a nail on the side wall and once that comes off that tire is done 🤦🏽♂️ I want new ones but the threads are good and I should just get another BFgoodrich tire 😬 mines are LT285/70R16 116/1130
Ah bummer that sucks, those are some beefy tires tho. I'm sure they look sweet on the truck.
@@JDMDriveway also recently did my rear bearings and I should have that video up by tomorrow so you can check it out on how bad it was 🤦🏽♂️
@yoniiboi707 oh geez yeah I'm definitely not looking forward to that. Thanks for making a video though!
DUDE… what wheels are you running I absolutely love them
They're Vision Manx 16x8 +0. I've been loving them for sure. Thanks for watching!
Are you running a drop in bed liner or spray in liner?
It's a spray in type! I'd recommend 👍🏼 thanks for watching!
Where did you oder your set from and what’s the manufacture date?
The noise is clearly a result of not rotating tires and/or unequal brake pressure between tires. Any tire, especially traction tires, will do the same if treated that way.
Yep, good point. Clearly caused by not rotating. Thanks for watching!
How do these handle in the rain and freeway? Better than the wranglers?
I'm happy with how they handle, they have a little more give than the wranglers which is nice. In the rain they feel good, nothing mind blowing but not dangerous feeling either. Thanks for watching!
Liked the video. But confusing since your compare the Goodyears after them being 40k miles already to a brand new tire. Not sure how that compares. It’s like used tire with 40k miles vs brand new tire. Of course the brand new tire is going to feel better. Would like an update when the tires get to 40k miles then compare them.
I definitely appreciate what you're saying, and I'll plan to make a comparison video when these hit 40k! Thanks for watching
@@JDMDriveway good video. But yeah would for sure like to see a update video I’m interested of getn the falken tires
What part of NC? Need you to stop by and give me some ideas on my 2000 Tundra.
Lol it's on the eastern shore. I usually just make day trips here and there. Thanks for watching
I live in Lexington. Hoping to make a video of my Tundra at some point to just give the backstory behind it if nothing else. Just replaced the two rear shocks, still need to replace the front shocks and hopefully out a leveling kit on it
How’s your mpg on this truck with the leveling kit and tires and stuff? Love the truck
I get around 15mpg around town and it stretches up to 17ish on a strictly highway drive. Not great, but not much worse than before the lift kit and tires. Thanks for watching!
@@JDMDriveway Honestly that’s not that bad.. Considering basically an identical build just different wheels!
😁👍 .. enjoyable watching , great tire , .. ✌️
I don’t think people talk about nitto terragrapplers but they are AT and are quiet and weren’t that expensive either
Nice, I hadn't really looked into them that much. I'll keep them in mind for next time! Thanks for watching
Good info,thanks....
Thanks for watching!
I have goodyear AT and they are just as quiet as summer tires.
How are they holding up? Trying to chose between the fallen rubitreks or cooper rugged treks
So far so good! They got a tiny bit louder after about 15k miles but I rotated them and the sound went back down. Thanks for watching!
how are these holding up and doing now that you have had them a few months? debating between these and the at4w for my frontier
I've been super happy with them so far. Still riding comfy and still quiet, thanks for watching
I think I have the same tires like ypu in my 2002 tundra and 250 k miles
Nice, I've been really liking them so far! Thanks for watching
@@JDMDriveway yeah I like the tires too, nice videos!!!
i just got yokohama geolander, I had the same goodyears. They are stupid loud
Nice, I was really considering the geolanders too. Seem like a great option as well, thanks for watching!
See I found the Rub's to be one of the loudest at's I've ran
Interesting, I'm curious to see how they are with more miles on them. Thanks for watching!
Cupped tires (which is what you had) are also caused by bad shocks. Saw your other videos and saw you installed bilsteins not too long ago and you had those Goodyear for almost 40k? That was your problem. You struts
Huh, I didn't know that. Probably a significant contributor too. Thanks for watching!
If you owned a 92 dodge w250 cummins you wouldn't need to worry about shocks. There is no movement.
Nice Truck 👍
Thanks for watching!
Man! That sounded worse than my Jeep!My Goodyear Trailmarks on my 02TRD are whiners.
Are you not running 27lbs/29lbs? On your Faulkens?
I think I'm running them a little higher at like 33ish psi, I'll have to check though. Pretty happy with these so far! Thanks for watching
What PSI do you run on-road and off-road?
I run about 35 psi for every day driving and I'm a total pavement princess so don't have any experience taking it offroad. Thanks for watching!
Hello! I have the same truck. If you going to sell it, What would be the price?
Ooh, I'm not sure man. It's in really good condition but I does have 240k miles, I was thinking 8-10k, especially considering the new tires and other maintenance I've done. Thanks for watching!
What size are your tires
265/75r16. Thanks for watching
I’d hate to see what you think of an actual loud tire lol
lol I can't imagine it being much louder than what I had. My ears would be ringing after driving on the highway haha. I'm sure there's louder out there though! Thanks for watching
Update ?
Still great! I've got probably 10k on them? Thanks for watching!
Definitely not gonna copy the rims and tires and act confused if someone points it out that it looks like yours
Hahaha you would have some great taste if you did 😂 thanks for watching
Wonky edge wear is cupping. KO2s do the same, but far, far worse.
Gotcha, thanks for watching
Goodyear tires are good for a year. It’s in the name. 😂
My 92 12 valve cummins will drownd out any tires on the market
haha that's the way to do it!
Ur trucks insulation must really suck. I've had mine for a while now and there the same I also rotate mine every 5 thousand miles.
I think the rotation piece is the most important. I ruined the Goodyears by not rotating them. Thanks for watching!
Hi. Fellow Tundra owner here. The increased noise from the tires was due to not retating them. I try to rotate my tires every oil change. Every 5000 miles. 🙏🏻
Yup, I've learned my lesson this time around! Haha I'll be better with these new ones. Thanks for watching
