Great job on the review I looked this device up on the website and was shocked at it’s price $345 US very expensive for a wireless connection, not for me I’ll stick with my cable.
Great videos Stewart, much of what you put on RUclips has been really useful for me. I took delivery of my MG4 last month, and can recommend the AAWireless device for Android Auto for anyone looking for options (don't think it works with Apple Carplay). Keep up the great work.
Enlightening to read some of the comments here. I have really annoying occasional disconnections from android auto where the only way to reconnect is to unlock and unplug and replug the phone, not an easy thing to do when you're driving (also not safe) but I assumed this was an an issue with Android auto more than the MG infotainment system, but seeing people the same issues with Apple CarPlay makes me think it's probably the MIS after all. This unit is a bit expensive even at the discounted $179 but if it's reliable it may be a good investment...
I would prefer software to access vehicle settings, such as automatic window closing, lane keeping lock in Off position, and so on. I had a Leaf 2 with the Leafspy on my smartphone and it was great. Anyway thanks for your review, it is incredible what we can do with a car WHILE not driving, LOL.
Your reviews must be very expensive if they charging 160€ for the product you can easily get elsewhere for half of this price 😮 Btw review very good 👍🏼
Thanks for the video, though the unit you have here seems to be quite expensive at $329! I'll be looking at one of the cheaper options, as I dont need Carplay, just AA, I'll probably get the AAWireless device
I didn't notice this in the list of cons for the MG4? All well and good but to have to pay an additional £200 or so, frig around with sticking the box to the car when it is just something that should work and MG should fix it - you've already paid for it. Bit like going back to the sixties and making brackets for my portable tape player in my mini! Android Auto has worked fine in my previous cars.
Hey Stuart thank you for the great videos! I would like to ask, do you face any connecting issues? Since i asked the seller, they told me that I need to unplug and plug it again whenever i turn on my mg 4 ev. If yes, how you solve this issue? Thank you in Advance
Thanks Andrew. Unfortunately not at this stage and probably won’t as the developer has asked me not to update it in the play store. However, it did work fine in chrome
Tried to use your link, takes me to a USA site that’s ok but seems to be the wrong product. I scrolled down to what appeared to be the same one you reviewed and it states Android 10.0 . Just looking for a little reassurance and get your discount if I can? Great video btw.
Hi there, thanks for tuning and glad to hear the video was of help. I’ve checked the link out which should automatically use my code. However, it does seem the unit has changed. Possibly an upgrade more than likely. I have just received a new unit from them to test, if you can hang on a couple of weeks it’s worth waiting. My car has a wireless charging pad but no wireless CarPlay so don’t quite what’s the point! The Skoda I had had wireless CarPlay but no wireless charger so again what’s the point!?😊
This one works with the MG and they should function with most cars. Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure which do and which don’t but you can check with the retailer first if that helps.
Not really. Only issue like I explained in the vid was freezing/unresponsive but that’s being really picky at that. Of course, it still connects with a cable so we’ll see if it lasts
@bev Future yeah hence asking if he’s tried any reversing cams - I mean third party ones. Money savings are serious if you can live without the reversing cam of trophy model. 6k for a reversing cam and a few other mediocre features just isn’t worth it. LFP battery is really interesting, especially as a long term proposition as I’m assuming we will see less degradation from it. Environmentally interesting as no cobalt of nickel as well. Anyone buying an MG is doing it to save money so the base model is the interesting one the way I see it. But, no reversing cam is a really big deal and they should definitely have included it (or given it a decent rear window!)
@Stuart Thomas Ok thanks for the reply, I'm not sure if to purchase this or the tech wiz, I no when asking this I'm being abit lazy and I will do some research but is there any big stand out things that one can do over the other or are they basically the same device, great video by the way.
I wish I understood the need for or advantage of this device. I simply plug my phone onto the cable and voila! Android Auto, with everything that you illustrated here. What would this do for me apart from not having to connect my phone to a cable? which is so quick and easy.

@@stuart_thomas thank you for your clarification... Not much of a big deal for me having android auto by cable, just wondering how fast the phone charges when connected to the car..is it enough when running android auto? Thanks
Have you experimented with any others? Did it reduce the lag that Android Auto has with the infotainment systems? I've got an MG HS (for 8 days now) and found that the lag could be out by almost 500 meters (visually/not audible warnings/directions). I'm wondering if these sorts of devices would overcome that issue.

Hi James I didn’t try Android however I’d assume it wouldn’t be an issue to run one or the other it would pick up the nearest device first and automatically assign to that OS
Something like this sounds very cool. However, the "do not delete or update prelaoded apps" seems like a giant red flag to me... I do not like that at all.
Thanks for another great video Stuart. I am seriously considering this unit as I'm hoping it solves an issue I have with wired Android Auto. At the moment when plugged in, phone calls won't come through the car and will only come through the phone. If I unplug it from Android Auto then it will answer through the car. So when using this wireless unit, do phonecalls come through the car speakers ok or am I gonna hit the same issue as wired. Oh, I also have the white SE SR. Cheers.... Mark
Hi Mark, thanks for tuning in and the comments. Phone calls came through the car with this device. However, I will say upfront I have only tested it with iPhone, so I can’t vouch for Android devices but I understand these will work in the same way. It sounds like Bluetooth on your phone supersedes android auto. Is there a setting in your phone which allows you to change this?
Hi all MG4 owners :) I have a different question here regarding the SE model wired Apple CarPlay, when you connect your phone to the USB A to connect it, does id charge the phone as well ?
