To be fair we didn't see their training. But we know Trunks AT LEAST watched vegeta train and probably copied him which is why they were near the same level as ascended saiyans.
Shows you how Vegeta's mind was still developing at this point in the story, as the dynamic between him and his son Trunks wasn't as special as the dynamic between Goku and his son Gohan, in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

Vegeta trained himself half to death to prepare for the androids and I'm almost positive that he didn't stop training like that in the chamber. The reason Goku got so far in 10 months is a combination of his experience with ki control and his superior training techniques than Vegeta at that time of the story. Hard training and no rest seriously stunts your growth, that mindset would be detrimental to trunk's development
It really went to show trunks had a lot to learn without a teacher who could properly show him the way as Vegeta didn't and they only tried to force the power to come out hence why trunks was bulky and failed. Meanwhile Gohan got mastered super Saiyan in less time while being younger and also stronger thanks to Goku showing Gohan how to train like master roshi taught him. Eat week sleep well train well is literally why this training was so perfect and ss2 is the best balanced form of the original series

Ideas for the speed increase. It’s said that this form increases ki production, so Trunks could use the increased flight speed to make himself more mobile. Additionally, we know that ki blasts can come from anywhere on a body and have recoil so he could use little ki blasts from different parts of his body to accelerate in the opposite direction. Like shooting from your elbow to speed up a punch, your heel to accelerate a kick or from your back to jump forward.
None of this changes the fact that Gohan got his Super Saiyan in the hyperbolic time chamber off of a hypothetical situation that didn't even happen making him the one who truly devalued Super Saiyan.

I wonder if its possible, to use the form strategically, only quickly transforming into the form while attacking, or to use a faster form first, to get the opponent into a full nelson, then transforming and nelson harder.
I do think the stamina drain should have been the weakness for grade 3, not speed. As that would still push Goku and Gohan to master Super Saiyan to use as their base form. It would also still give Vegeta a reason to not go past grade 2, because the stamina drain wouldn’t allow for longer fights.

I have always maintained that Vegeta could have gone SSJ2 against Cell IF two conditions were met: 1. Toriyama got out of the character's way and let him shine for once 2. Instead of bum-rushing Cell, Vegeta instead put that rage into powering up. He blew his load instead of putting it toward a rage-induced SSJ2 transformation. If Gohan had just gotten mad and immediately lashed out at cell instead of powering up, he would have done the same thing - he'd have HURT cell a lot but without him staying in the moment and letting it all go to reach ssj2, it would not have happened if he'd just thrown an angry energy blast instead. See, that's *EXACTly* what Gohan DID every time before SSJ2 - he just got mad and immediately launched a massive attack- on Raditz, on Frieza multiple times, etc. If Gohan HAD poured that anger into a power up he MAY have gone SSJ way back in the Frieza saga (Goten reached ssj at a similar age). likewise, Vegeta planting his feet after seeing his son dead and *really* pouring it all out, letting that anger out as a POWERUP, yeah, I think SSJ2 for an elite who had already surpassed the standard SSJ transformation would be 100% feasible. The reason gohan did it was exactly that - letting it all out, channeling it, instead of thinking of attacking. Also...if they still had tails, Vegeta could possibly have gone golden oozaru right there and been (with a 10x modifier on top of ssj) FAR stronger than even ssj2 Gohan - because he, uniquely, can CONTROl himself in oozaru - which in theory makes ssj oozaru possible. The only thing being, Cell is smart enough to immediately go for the tail, so it'd be down to if he could get it or if ssj oozaru Vegeta could vaporize him first.

While I do agree with some of your points saiyan scholar there's one thing that you forgot it was clearly stated by cell when trunks was fighting him perfect cell told trunks that trunks had surpassed him at least in the terms of pure overall power so I think personally if trucks had speed to go along with that power perfect cell would have been destroyed just remember Future Trunks isn't the type to hold back on a enemy or a threat he would have ended perfect cell right out at the gate if speed has not been an issue.

@SaiyanScholar Actually it was in the anime after Trunks knocked Cell into a mountain when cell got back up he was smiling at Trunks when he told Trunks that Trunks had surpassed him at least in terms of power . That's the reason why perfect cell power up to his Hulk forum as you could call it because he told Trunks that you could have all the power in the world but if you could not catch your enemy with it it was useless that was the lesson that perfect cell conveyed the Trunks. That's what Trunks really reflected on his actions because he realized if he had took more time to perfect his power and balance speed with the power then he would have destroyed cell. But of course that's one of the reasons why Vegeta didn't use the form because it offers overwhelming power but at the cost of speed well I guess if you are like Broly anyway who is this absolutely legendary in every way. But yeah that's one of the reasons why Trunks has so much power but he was sort of an amateur because Vegeta never took the time to properly train him in the hyperbolic Time Chamber like Goku did for Gohan who would have made the same mistake because he thought that Goku could also defeat cell while under grade 3. But Goku told Gohan grade 3 had a disadvantage when it come to speed and what good with the power be if he could not catch his enemy.
Crazy how they based Broly off this form. Becoming one of the most popular characters ever. But this form was just fodder. I wish they’d revisit something similar. Like SSBE
If he was more experienced, he'd be able to use it with the speed decrease. Goku, with his insane foght knowledge could probably do ok with it. He wouldnt need the speed if he could analyse the fighters moveset. Cell was made from all different fighters, his moves are derivative. Figure out his patterns and you can land your hits
I think if Trunks didn't lose speed in Full Power/Grade 3, it would be in character for Cell to fight Trunks in Full Power form... or rather, suppressed Full Power. Cell was already faster than Trunks, and Trunks going Grade 3 only made Cell more untouchable. They would be equal in speed because Cell dropped in speed a bit, but now Cell can test his physical strength against Trunks, who thought he was stronger than Cell(though Cell was suppressed). Personally, I don't think it's in-character for Cell to jump to the level he fought Goku with. Cell wants good fights before he destroys the Earth, and jumping to 50-70% of his power to beat a Grade 3 SS Trunks without speed decrease would be overkill and boring to him. I also don't think Cell would have killed Trunks. Cell thought he was the shit, so he would keep his promise to not kill anyone no matter what until the day of the Cell Games. Also, I hated every time Toriyama did the whole 'Vegeta has somehow surpassed Goku!' trope in Super. It just doesn't make sense with his own world-building. I know it's meant to be dramatic and nothing more, but it kinda pulls you out of the previously established drama. For example, in Resurrection F, everyone knows how strong SS3 Goku is, and Beerus beat him with ease. It was meant to make things seem bleak and foreboding. That's the drama that everyone is contending with. I like the 'MY BULMAAA!' moment, but for the people to know how strong SS3 Goku is and say that Vegeta, enraged in just SS2, is able to overcome Goku's strength, is ridiculous and takes us out of the previous dramatic setting in favor of Vegeta's sudden power-up that by all means can't and shouldn't be stronger than SS3 Goku... Again, I know it's meant to just be a cool moment, but it really should come later so it doesn't overlap and take away from the current dramatic moment. But that's just me. If anything, Toriyama could and should have used that moment to make Vegeta go SS3 himself, surpassing Goku, and still have the outcome that it's pointless against Beerus. That way saying Vegeta surpassed Goku would actually make sense, as well as add to the narrative that without SSGod, they can't even stand up to Beerus. But instead, it was a downer for me personally. Love the moment, hated the timing and execution. And this rant is to say the same for Vegeta in the Cell Games. Vegeta's attack against SPC after Cell took Trunks out was perfect, but if anyone implies Vegeta suddenly became as strong or stronger than SS2 Gohan, that would have been ridiculous and a downer in the overall scope. But, no one claimed that, so it was perfect imho. Enraged Vegeta putting everything into one attack surpassed Goku's best vs Cell. That makes perfect sense to me and only adds to the story, not detract. Good moment, though it birthed the trope of 'OMG! He surpassed Goku!'. I think if Vegeta went enraged this early in the Cell Games, there's a chance he could catch Cell by surprise, but I doubt there's a world where he could beat Cell here, even enraged. Unless, of course, he blew himself up in the process to avenge Trunks like he did vs Buu. Buu could survive because he of his unique physique, but I doubt Cell could. Just me personally, but I liked Vegeta's rage-out moments in Z way more than the pointless and/or hollow moments in Super. There's character development and growth in the Z situations, while in Super, it's superficial and meant to get a pop from us, instead of build Vegeta as a character.
Trunks is dope but he needed more self motivation to push himself to get stronger. If he would have trained in that form instead of chasing Vegeta around he could have put up a better fight against cell
It was more to do with his training guidance to tap into the power already there. He was like a new guy starting the gym and listening to the local roider before getting 1 to 1 training with an athlete lol
This form isn't bad under all points of view. It's simply been used wrong. Trunks has used it before obtaining SSJ2 intermittedly with Super Saiyan to offset the speed disadvantage but still reap the power boost when he's about to strike, like Goku did when doing SSG-SSB quickswitch.

Man these fights are goddamn simple minded. can't the user do anything to make up for the decreased speed drawback? Like using the environment, telekinesis, tanking attacks until you grab an opening like what Paul's torterra does in pokemon dp?
Because.. a year of training in an atmosphere of the ... hyperbolic timechamber. will have deminischen returns. Gokus said: "There is something like...Training to much." Vegeta tryed but he didnt get much result. You need some time of commitment to get your body fit for MSSJ.

What i never get was.. if Grad 2 ist faster and stronger than grade 1.. .and grade 4 is just grade 1 with no Limitations and Stamina issues.. why dont use grade 2 in top of grade 4? My Solution is. Grade 4 is Faster and Stronger than the boost of Grade 2. Even if its "just" a boost of 50x Battlepower. The Better Ki control make is stronger and faster.
That's what Vegeta said Goku's plan was "only go higher if need be". But there was no way to fight Perfect Cell when expending that much energy as Goku was too exhausted and Cell still had way more reserves and power ups to counter.
Was he THAT STRONG?...It would SEEM he'd be able to TAKE A PUNCH better than he did especially when Cell isn't Powered Up. With THIS, Trunks COULD'VE taken a Hit, ala Ego Vegeta, just to allow Cell to get close , so he could get those HANDS on him...but Trunks, OVERALL, ISN'T a "Smart" Fighter.
Alright, so, to answer the Vegeta enraged question, I believe that Vegeta would, as you say, be able to put the hurt on Cell. However, we don't know about the full capabilities of Cell's healing yet, and even if Vegeta powered up to near Super Saiyan 2 Gohan levels of power, I think what would end up happening is that Cell would still beat Vegeta either way, but Vegeta would get an epic beatdown. But what could be even worse for everyone is if Vegeta actually gets a 'killing' shot, as we saw what happened when Cell nearly died from his self-destruction, and at that point, I don't know if Cell would be all too set on having a tournament and might genuinely just blow up the planet. However, I don't see Cell killing Vegeta (or blowing up the planet), like you said, Cell never backs down from a dick measuring contest (he's a COCKroach for a reason) and would probably let Vegeta live to fight at the Cell games. Although, another inconsistency could be that Vegeta might not back down because of Trunks' death, and either Cell knocks him out or kills him, or even Vegeta is so broken that he falls into a kind of depression. Although, I doubt it would be for long, as even if he did fall into a depression, when Goku and Gohan come back out, I think he'll probably get the will to fight back even more. However, if Cell is genuinely stronger, I don't know if Goku and Gohan will get those 5 days of free time and might go back into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Even if they don't, I still believe Vegeta will go back into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and he might even be pushed to break through his limits even moreso than Goku or Gohan. After all, Vegeta IS a damn prodigy, and if anyone can do it, it's the Prince of the Saiyans.

While I do agree with some of your points saiyan scholar there's one thing that you forgot it was clearly stated by cell when trunks was fighting him perfect cell told trunks that trunks had surpassed him at least in the terms of pure overall power so I think personally if trucks had speed to go along with that power perfect cell would have been destroyed just remember Future Trunks isn't the type to hold back on a enemy or a threat he would have ended perfect cell right out at the gate if speed has not been an issue.

That's the reason why perfect cell power up to his Hulk forum as you could call it because he told Trunks that you could have all the power in the world but if you could not catch your enemy with it it was useless that was the lesson that perfect cell conveyed the Trunks.
That's what Trunks really reflected on his actions because he realized if he had took more time to perfect his power and balance speed with the power then he would have destroyed cell.
But of course that's one of the reasons why Vegeta didn't use the form because it offers overwhelming power but at the cost of speed well I guess if you are like Broly anyway who is this absolutely legendary in every way.
But yeah that's one of the reasons why Trunks has so much power but he was sort of an amateur because Vegeta never took the time to properly train him in the hyperbolic Time Chamber like Goku did for Gohan who would have made the same mistake because he thought that Goku could also defeat cell while under grade 3.
But Goku told Gohan grade 3 had a disadvantage when it come to speed and what good with the power be if he could not catch his enemy.

He wouldnt need the speed if he could analyse the fighters moveset. Cell was made from all different fighters, his moves are derivative. Figure out his patterns and you can land your hits

I think if Trunks didn't lose speed in Full Power/Grade 3, it would be in character for Cell to fight Trunks in Full Power form... or rather, suppressed Full Power. Cell was already faster than Trunks, and Trunks going Grade 3 only made Cell more untouchable. They would be equal in speed because Cell dropped in speed a bit, but now Cell can test his physical strength against Trunks, who thought he was stronger than Cell(though Cell was suppressed). Personally, I don't think it's in-character for Cell to jump to the level he fought Goku with. Cell wants good fights before he destroys the Earth, and jumping to 50-70% of his power to beat a Grade 3 SS Trunks without speed decrease would be overkill and boring to him. I also don't think Cell would have killed Trunks. Cell thought he was the shit, so he would keep his promise to not kill anyone no matter what until the day of the Cell Games.
Also, I hated every time Toriyama did the whole 'Vegeta has somehow surpassed Goku!' trope in Super. It just doesn't make sense with his own world-building. I know it's meant to be dramatic and nothing more, but it kinda pulls you out of the previously established drama. For example, in Resurrection F, everyone knows how strong SS3 Goku is, and Beerus beat him with ease. It was meant to make things seem bleak and foreboding. That's the drama that everyone is contending with. I like the 'MY BULMAAA!' moment, but for the people to know how strong SS3 Goku is and say that Vegeta, enraged in just SS2, is able to overcome Goku's strength, is ridiculous and takes us out of the previous dramatic setting in favor of Vegeta's sudden power-up that by all means can't and shouldn't be stronger than SS3 Goku... Again, I know it's meant to just be a cool moment, but it really should come later so it doesn't overlap and take away from the current dramatic moment. But that's just me. If anything, Toriyama could and should have used that moment to make Vegeta go SS3 himself, surpassing Goku, and still have the outcome that it's pointless against Beerus. That way saying Vegeta surpassed Goku would actually make sense, as well as add to the narrative that without SSGod, they can't even stand up to Beerus. But instead, it was a downer for me personally. Love the moment, hated the timing and execution.
And this rant is to say the same for Vegeta in the Cell Games. Vegeta's attack against SPC after Cell took Trunks out was perfect, but if anyone implies Vegeta suddenly became as strong or stronger than SS2 Gohan, that would have been ridiculous and a downer in the overall scope. But, no one claimed that, so it was perfect imho. Enraged Vegeta putting everything into one attack surpassed Goku's best vs Cell. That makes perfect sense to me and only adds to the story, not detract. Good moment, though it birthed the trope of 'OMG! He surpassed Goku!'. I think if Vegeta went enraged this early in the Cell Games, there's a chance he could catch Cell by surprise, but I doubt there's a world where he could beat Cell here, even enraged. Unless, of course, he blew himself up in the process to avenge Trunks like he did vs Buu. Buu could survive because he of his unique physique, but I doubt Cell could. Just me personally, but I liked Vegeta's rage-out moments in Z way more than the pointless and/or hollow moments in Super. There's character development and growth in the Z situations, while in Super, it's superficial and meant to get a pop from us, instead of build Vegeta as a character.

It was more to do with his training guidance to tap into the power already there. He was like a new guy starting the gym and listening to the local roider before getting 1 to 1 training with an athlete lol

This form isn't bad under all points of view. It's simply been used wrong. Trunks has used it before obtaining SSJ2 intermittedly with Super Saiyan to offset the speed disadvantage but still reap the power boost when he's about to strike, like Goku did when doing SSG-SSB quickswitch.

What i never get was.. if Grad 2 ist faster and stronger than grade 1.. .and grade 4 is just grade 1 with no Limitations and Stamina issues.. why dont use grade 2 in top of grade 4?
My Solution is. Grade 4 is Faster and Stronger than the boost of Grade 2. Even if its "just" a boost of 50x Battlepower. The Better Ki control make is stronger and faster.
That's what Vegeta said Goku's plan was "only go higher if need be". But there was no way to fight Perfect Cell when expending that much energy as Goku was too exhausted and Cell still had way more reserves and power ups to counter.

Alright, so, to answer the Vegeta enraged question, I believe that Vegeta would, as you say, be able to put the hurt on Cell. However, we don't know about the full capabilities of Cell's healing yet, and even if Vegeta powered up to near Super Saiyan 2 Gohan levels of power, I think what would end up happening is that Cell would still beat Vegeta either way, but Vegeta would get an epic beatdown. But what could be even worse for everyone is if Vegeta actually gets a 'killing' shot, as we saw what happened when Cell nearly died from his self-destruction, and at that point, I don't know if Cell would be all too set on having a tournament and might genuinely just blow up the planet. However, I don't see Cell killing Vegeta (or blowing up the planet), like you said, Cell never backs down from a dick measuring contest (he's a COCKroach for a reason) and would probably let Vegeta live to fight at the Cell games. Although, another inconsistency could be that Vegeta might not back down because of Trunks' death, and either Cell knocks him out or kills him, or even Vegeta is so broken that he falls into a kind of depression. Although, I doubt it would be for long, as even if he did fall into a depression, when Goku and Gohan come back out, I think he'll probably get the will to fight back even more. However, if Cell is genuinely stronger, I don't know if Goku and Gohan will get those 5 days of free time and might go back into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Even if they don't, I still believe Vegeta will go back into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and he might even be pushed to break through his limits even moreso than Goku or Gohan. After all, Vegeta IS a damn prodigy, and if anyone can do it, it's the Prince of the Saiyans.
