In some ways it's sad to think that Adam Petty and Kenny Irwin are these days pretty much forgotten, I know it was a long time ago but both could have been terrific drivers in the sport.
Ian Khan yeah I’m not really surprised. Adam and Kenny are becoming small footnotes in nascar history. And the more children Kyle keeps popping out the more it seems like he’s trying to put that behind him too.
I absolutely agree, 110%. Kudos to them as well as the viewers who wrote to then-Turner Sports (now TNT Sports) for coming up with that idea and it's so awesome that all three of those silent lap tributes were caution-free.
Those 2 drivers are missed in my 🌎. Always will be. I'm so glad they took the time to stand silent on laps 42 and 45. May 12th is coming up soon and I will pay tribute especially to Adam.
Doing a moment of silence for both Kenny Irwin and Adam Petty on laps 42 and 45 was a very classy move by the NBC production. Their deaths have been overshadowed by Dale Sr's and not sounding rude or disrespectful, but every driver that made an impact in NASCAR should be honored on the lap number of the car number they drove.
Almost like The Lord above was Pissed that NASCAR did not take strong action to deal with Driver Safety. It Finally Took Dale Sr to succumb to his Crash for Everyone to take Driver Safety seriously. At least there hasn’t been a Death after Dale Passed.
I guess I'll be the first one to note it... Joe Nemechek in that early race crash hit that wall a lot like his brother John hit the wall at Homestead in 1997. Good to see Joe was okay after that hit.

Why did I take so long for NASCAR to take safety seriously? Restrictor plates were implemented so the cars wouldn't crash into the grand stands. That would have ended racing if a mass of spectators died as a result. Bill France's self interest was on display for that. He didnt give a fuck about the drivers. We all know that. Neither did Bill Jr. There hasn't been anyone killed since Dale. Save the silent laps. Every lap could be silent because of all the deaths every year in NASCAR, which actually may be a good thing. Guard rails used to give. Solid walls do not. NASCAR's buttheadedness under Big Bill & Bill Jr killed drivers every year. And ppl bitch about Brian.
38:17: Lap 3 (Dale Earnhardt)
55:28: Lap 42 (Kenny Irwin Jr.)
56:40: Lap 45 (Adam Petty)
2001 was flooded with phenomenal finishes

This year no tribute to those 2 drivers.

Did Pattie divorce him?
Ian Khan I believe so. Or he divorced her. One or the other!
But Adam and Kenny should have gotten a tribute for 2020 in my opinion.
Good tributes to dale sr, adam petty, and kenny irwin jr tnt

I thought the Lap 42 and 45 tributes were classy. Not bad. Thanks for posting! :)
Sadly, no one talks about either driver anymore.

It’s unreal how NASCAR didn’t do anything after there two deaths in 2000.

Rusty Wallace Day is over to quickly
That team shot them selves in the foot too many times in 2001.
Do you have the fall race form here?
39:54 I'm pretty sure that guy in the stands is wearing a Jevon Kearse Titans jersey
