Lol, yeah. Recently played and now couldn't NOT notice the similarly "empty" street scene. I am yet to play S;G and other entries to the SciAdv series, but if it happens ONE more time, I'll be convinced it's the creators' "calling card".
Lol. You discussing the nature of infinity reminds of the narrator from The Stanley Parable when he's talking about the "mostly-infinite" nature of the infinite hole.
Steins;Gate is the Visual Novel done by the same author which did Chaos;Head, so that's where the similarities are coming from, i think both stories happen in the same universe even.
For anyone unaware, this anime is based on a visual novel with the same name and I highly recommend checking it out, possibly even if you've already seen the show. One of Okabe's most interesting traits is the contrast between what he says vs what hes thinking. It reveals a lot of his character. Sadly, while i think this is an amazing adaptation as far as game to anime adaptations go, most of Okabe's internal monologue is completely lost.
As someone who has seen both the anime and the VN, I can confidently say that the anime is top tier, but it's still vastly inferior to the VN. A big reason for that is the multiple endings. Because you can't really appreciate the true end unless you've seen all the bad ends.
I played the VN after seeing the show and definitely also recommend it. It adds a lot and is still interesting, even if you know a lot of the plot points already.
So they don't have jobs, they are college students that's why they were going to attend a lecture. Yes the implication is that he time travelled/affected the events when he sent the email to Daru. Also do checkout the OP! It's really addictive + spoiler free.
Wrong, agent of the organization! Kyouma works at his parents' vegetable sales store! Daru, at least at 0, is working independently, basically being a general technician! Mayuri works as a maid! And Christina must be able to get money through her research at university!
The Big Crunch is not the most accepted hypothesis by consensus though, the Heat Death is-where it just expands forever rather than collapsing under gravity.
if you say that universe has an end because it goes together again... wouldnt that mean another begining? :D I think it is called the bog bounce or sth? so no end and no begining then? :D
The movie predestination, which I watched because of you, since you mentioned it in another video once already, may work as a time trevel movie - but it fails at telling a story that doesn't shatter any sense of suspension of disbelief.
I am so here for this from a great reactor. First episode of Steins Gate is one confusing trip when you don't know anything I've rewatched this series nearly 20 times at this point, looking forward to your take
finally I have found the perfect reactor to the perfect anime. Once you've seen the anime I'd 100% recommend the vn, it goes much much deeper into the science of it all and it's all based in real theories/hypothesis, it's really damn cool, I was having a blast researching all kinds of topics while reading it. Some of the alternate endings (bad endings) take the time travel concept to an extreme and make you really think about the emotional impact that it can have on someone. It's a beautiful series.
I'm so happy you're reacting to this anime. And yes PLEASE try to come up with all the theories you have, and yes continue with the physic, I finally know why I have some cold spots when I microwave my food xD
Awesome commentary! The best reactions are ones with pausing and talking imo. The ethereal feel this anime often has is one of the reasons it's my top 1.
Definitely also a possible scensrio. Big crunch is if the current models appliy forever. But the thing is also that by holographic theory, the universe is equal to the surface of a blackhole. So a fun idea is that the universe is currently constantly growing as the accretion disc is vonstantly absorbed, but once it evaporates it will collapse again. That is just a hypothesis, but as all cosmological models are probably insufficient (especially as they have a singularity in the beginning) it is in the end just what we like most or which vurrent model we accept does a good fit for current expansion and just thinkin that extrapolating that is the most reasonable thing :)
Whether or not the science is accurate.. this is still the best anime ever. It really is a slow burn though.. it starts to pick up around episode 12 or so.. make sure you don't give up watching it before then. Trust me.. it's worth it. Though I personally think the dubbed version is way better. Ideally dubbed with subtitles is the best.
One of the classics I have not watched (the horror), so my first assumption is that the main character normally suffers from Chuunibyou or "eight grader syndrome" which causes delusions like these of secret organizations and mad science or fantasy powers.
The mystery is certainly a big part of the fun in this show so enjoy the weirdness. It was really fun watching you not really know whether to view things from a physics or psychological perspective when trying to understand what's going on.
This anime includes the first season of Steins;gate and the second season of Steins;gate Zero. The first season of Steins;gate is complete with 24 episodes. The second season, Steins;gate Zero, is a story that supplements the first season. I recommend that you first watch the 24 episodes of the first season of Steins;gate.
You're gonna ahve a fun time with this! This anime has a lot of fun sci-fi very close to real science, probably a step away or so from real theories into fiction. And since you know it's an anime to do something with sciency stuff, you'll have to kind of go through the characters exploring mystery the science way: theorise, test, conclude, re-test. I'd say watch it all in release order, it's a really nice story and was no. 1 on MyAnimeList for a while until FMAB took its place (which then got dethroned by Frieren)
Just wanted to clarify because there looks to be a misunderstanding perhaps but the discussion at the end with checking the messages is him realizing that the email he sent about Kurisu was delivered a week before he sent it, not that Okabe himself traveled through time. It will be explored further in the next episode, I believe. As for Okabe himself, take his antics in stride. He's a bit hard to get a good grasp of at the start, but he'll make a lot more sense as he's developed.
This show takes a bit to get going compared to some of the other shows you have watched. Keep watching. Just keep watching. You will hit an episode where things pick up RAPIDLY.

This is basically a science fiction mystery with some slice of life and comedy in the first half. You are only given hints of what's happening as the story starts. Although, I'd definitely recommend rewatching the first episode after watching the last episode. There's a ton of things set up that only make sense in retrospect.

If I remember correctly, the Universe would have an end, if its expansion rate was decreasing. However, it isn't (it's either accelerating or is static, don't remember which one 😢), so it either will fragment itself into unaccessible, increasingly small pockets of space, or, by the time all stars have burned out, will be an increasingly cold and decreasingly dense space with increased monotony of energy, thus, with the highest entropy possible. I may be confusing things, or may have missed the news of deceleration of the expansion of the Universe, so, sorry, if my ignorance misguides those who will have read this. P.S: YEAH, STEINS;GATE IS HERE!!! Definitely in my top 5 animes of all time. Even recently bought most of the VNs of the "Science Adventure" series to experience this greatness how it was supposed to be, but am yet to finish of all of the additional routes Chaos;Head due to coming finals ;)
