Absolutely disgusting what people do to these poor things. Birds are such intelligent yet sensitive animals they needs lots of care, love and attention and can get anxiety very easily. It hurts my heart to see these poor animals once in homes with their families suddenly on the streets alone and lost. Animals don’t forget trauma so easily I hope they find new forever homes that are a lot more loving

I just adopted a male cockatiel from a neglect situation that had been attacked by a cat. The cat ripped his wing off. Luckily, a breeder that knew the owners convinced them to give the bird to him. I only adopt special needs birds so when the breeder told me that nobody wanted him it broke my heart. He is the sweetest boy ever!
April...appreciate your attitude...THANK YOU for NOT judging the people who had to find a place for their pets. Until you've walked the proverbial mile in that person's shoes, you have no REAL idea what happened. Many people living without financial help lost their jobs, homes etc.
It's so sad their are many good people having to rehome their pets because they can't even afford to feed themselves with this virus crisis. Tragic times 💚🙏🏼

This whole pandemic situation is sure bringing out certain people’s true colours. Looks like way too many people don’t care that much about their pets if they’d just dump them on the street because maaaybe they’ll give them a virus.. :(
To me, that is like dumping off a member of a family because that is exactly what these poor animals should be considered as. Thank you for drawing our concern to this situation. I am thrilled that sweet Corona has a new, permanent home.

I agree. My two tiels are my babies and best buddies. I wouldn't even think of dumping them for whatever reason. For example: I'm a college student and I'd like to move out of my parents house. However, the college dorms and student apartments I've come across don't allow pets, so I'll be staying at my parental house for a couple more years.

Hi April this hurts my heart that people are dumping birds.what a very beautiful cockatiel, april.well I am so glad that the cockatiel is doing well.thats why I don't have other animals in the house because other animals can hurt birds like cats I heard that cats can cause a bird to get very sick.for me my angel is enough.When I get a bigger place I will take in all rescue birds,I will make an avairy for them.yes adopt don't shop.thank you so much April for what you do for all of the rescue birds love you April and have a blessed evening April.

@@ParrotPlayhouseChannel that's so wonderful that Corona found a forever home.april.I have love for all birds april.when I used to live in southern California their was alot of birds I would find,I would allways help the birds,out,some birds were hurt,the hurt birds I would allways take them to the veterinarian.the birds that I would find that were lost, some owners were so happy to get their birds back and other owners were not too happy too have their birds back when I was living in Orange county California,their were 2 mealy Amazon parrots male and female they were very tame they came to me and my mom,my mom and I knew that the birds were not wild parrots because the wild parrots don't come up to people they stay high up in the sky.we found the owners but they told me and my mom we set them free this hurt my heart.my mom and I made sure that they went to a good home we could not keep them because at the time my dad said that my mom and I had to many birds as it is.I will allways have love for all birds and allways help all birds have a blessed evening April Love you

I have rescued and helped various critters. Right now I am the proud owner of a Senegal parrot and a one eyed cat as well as my little cat colony outside. All of them are my children and of course they get spoiled.
People that dump there animals are horrible they can't think much of them I'm a real bird lover and I hope the beautiful tiel was OK, thank you for all the brilliant work you do. Animals can't catch the coronavirus

I can't believe people are dumping their birds because of a virus birds can't even get! The genome shows it came from a bat, with possibly a pangolin as an intermediary. As in, MAMMALS! I just stocked up on food for my lovebird, he's really helping my mental health during this insane time.

I also rescued a cockatiel when I was at the park.
I was trying to find his owner but it was difficult so I decided to be his family.
he was tied and little bit sick when I found him but now he is happy and cute cockatiel!

Our sanctuary here in WI still hold the fort but our quarantine room is full of surrendered parrots and we will have more Macaws coming in a couple of weeks. Luckily we volunteers still keep going to help the birdies. Hope this whole pandemic chaos ends up soon!

I'm aving a very hard time finding a bird rescue in my area tbh. I'm reaching out to animal rescues and vets, but nobody can tell my about birds. Apparently there is no rescue close to where i live...
Awe he's so cool. Bless you for rescuing these beautiful birds. That breaks my heart that people are giving them up. I would give anything to have a bird but everytime I go to a bird rescue I get declined because I live in an apartment . I'm so sad. I'm trying to save $$$ so I can buy a house & open my own bird rescue.

I always have to pause and blink when I see the words "forever home". For the most part,.... there isn't such a thing! Although many may keep an animal to the end of it's life... there is absolutely no guarentee when you re home a rescue, or sell an animal, that the home you are sending it to is forever. People change minds... circumstances change... heck people die and the relatives dont want the pets. Life is... shitty sometimes. I've learnt the hard way... and through experience, hard knocks... disopoingments... therefore, the term now makes me roll my eyes.

This is the main reason I won’t get a cat or a dog at least as long as I have my bird. I love cats and dogs and would love to have one of each honestly but I’m terrified one of them might attack my bird and that would devastate me. I made a commitment when I adopted my baby that I would take care of her for the rest of her life and if that means she’ll be my only pet that’s entirely fine with me as long as she is safe and happy.
That isn’t whats scary. You can train them to not attack the bird, done it with my cat to not attack my kitten.
Them dying is painful.

@@erenthebombjaeger I research cats and just as long as you stay calm and let the cat approach you first, all will go well. Don’t be so sudden or fast. Keep any dogs or cats far from the bird, perhaps let them adjust to their scent and study them everyday. Introduce the two slowly but immediately pull away if the dog or cat shows signs of aggression, if a cat starts lashing it’s tail it’s best to put the lil birdie away until next time before the animal strikes. Reward good behavior.

April, next time please get on Google and look for a smaller local rescue group. Ask if they can either foster the kittens, or recommend a kitty rescue group. Although little kittens do stand a better chance of being adopted, the municipal shelters are often "kill shelters".
Chula Vista Shelter is a wonderful shelter. They have amazing volunteers and doctors on site. The kittens are in very good hands.

I have a bfa and I never let him interact alone with the cat ( my husband's) closely supposed at all times, if ever in the same area... I'm just not comfortable with that... too much risk for both of them.

This is really off topic hope someone will answer me I recently took one of my cockatiels to the vet because he was acting way off I gave him a little bit of apple that day and they said that's poisonous to them sadly he did die an hour after I got home is that true can someone please tell me what isn't poisonous to them
@Yoshi 24_1 Apples are not poisonous but their seeds are, so you need to take out the core before giving a slice to a bird. Also, if apples are not organic, get rid of the peel.
