I just wanted to let you know that I loved your video. So much love and patience for little Ringo! I've been trying to take my cockatiels for a little over a year and I've learned so much watching this video. Thanks for sharing!
He seems to still be afraid. But I think that, in time, he'll grow to trust you... because you're really trying to help him recover. By the way, can Ringo fly? (With his past owners keeping him in such a small cage, his wing muscles might have atrophied from lack of use.)
This might be what my rescued cockatiel has! After 3-4 rounds her wings just completrly stop and she falls down with nothing to do. It's been 4 years since we rescued her and she still can't fly with our other bird who is her partner :(
Omg I was crying 😢 at beginning . I have 3 cockatiels , and they have 2 large cages & perches that are always open whenever I am home & a play gym... plus they hang out with me . Thank you for getting him out of that HORRIBLE jail cell with nothing In it ...they are so intelligent .... and need to spread their wings and have lots of space and different types of activities & toys in addition to human interaction & love . And other birds as long as they get along . People are so cruel to do this to any creature especially winged creatures who are meant to have tons of space & be free whenever possible , and according to safety as possible . Thank you so much for loving this bird ❤️❤️❤️

Just a few tips from your friendly neighborhood bird lover! Try and invest in some pellets for their main diet.. seeds are like treats for them along with millet and are best used for training... too many seeds in a bird's diet can cause fatty liver disease and can harm your bird... it's like if all you ate was Mcdonalds! I'm so glad you're helping that little bird have a better life! Ps. If you have the money try to invest in some natural wood perches.. using only straight dowels can cause problems with their feet...
Rosalee Salas seeds are a treat. While they eat seeds in the wild they work it off easily and don’t have as much as they would have at home. Birds don’t require seeds to live, it’s just something they can’t eat and find in the wild
Rosalee Salas Pellets are a mix of natural foods (at least proper pellets are) like vegetables where as seeds are fatty and can cause fatty liver disease. I have done a lot of research on birds and a mix of Chop and Pellets are the healthiest option for birds. Seeds and millet are like treats for the birds and are best for training. It’s like giving a child a cookie for using the potty and giving the child a mix of healthy food for their meals, vs giving a child McDonald’s and cake every meal. Not only does the treat lose value for training but the bird is losing nutrition it WOULD have in the wild.
I teared up when he started singing 😭 I’m so glad you were able to rescue him! Now I want to rescue a bird someday-they all deserve this much love and care ❤️
Omg, my bird came from a friend who has about 10-12 birds. She plucked her feathers as stress, and she was sharing a cage (massive cage) with about 6 other birds. We think she was getting *bullied* by the other birds, and wouldn’t eat. She had small very short tail feathers. 6 months later, she is a beautiful, well fed, healthy bird.
I really liked it! Adopting a Helpless Bird Is such a beautiful Thing to do! But please dont let him life alone, cockatiels need one Friend of their Kind to be fully happy (Budgies do not speak the same language) and please dont let him Life in a small cage they need at least 80cm leingh of space 24h a day. I hope you dont take this the wrong way it Is still a very good thing you did and karma will her you for saving the Bird. Good bless you 🥰🥰❤️
No cockatiels donnot have to have a "buddy" that is a myth. Don't take this the wrong way but some people don't have any other species, just one cocketial , they adapt very well to humans or other species for "their flock" i mean the human can be there flock.
@@carolhartley4448 im sorry but I hardly disagree. A human can never replace a bird friend. Of course Cockatiels are good with many kind of birds, but they do still not speak the same language, they do need another cockatiel to socialize, otherwise its not good for their psychologial state. My father is a breeder and this is the only truth
@@carolhartley4448 human can be their flock? i'm sorry but if you really knew and loved birds, you'd know that this is bullshit. you can't clean them, fly with them, feed them, sing with them or talk to them. the human might be happy about it but the bird would always prefer one of his own kind over the human so stop sounding so selfish.
That little guy is so cute. Feathers or not I would take him in a heartbeat. When I get a new pet, I tend take the one that is the most sickly. You are a good person, thanks for giving that little guy a second chance at life.
Hi! I really like your channel, all the good information you provide, and the great love and care towards these gorgeous, beautiful birds. Thank you for changing his diet to a more healthy one!!! ❤
I currently adopted a budgie he had a partner but she passed away so he is lonely now with his mirror I’ve had him for almost a 5 months I talk to him he gets near me, I put my finger he gets on my finger but pointed towards the mirror I’m pretty sure he developed that disorder where they are obsessed with a mirror, and I can’t really bond with my little guy cause he’s always to busy in being right beside his mirror, idk if I should take the mirror out because he’s already 4 years and I’m pretty sure he had that same mirror for a while now so I feel like taking the mirror away from my budgie would make him really depressed as it was the only “friend” he has, but at the same time I wanna bond with the guy more and take him out of his cage and pet the guy without him being scared... any suggestions I’d really appreciate the advise..
Sorry for the late reply. You should definitely take out the mirror. It can become a real problem when they become obsessed with the mirror. It will not bother him if you take the mirror out if you are able to tame him. If you aren’t able to have him out for multiple hours in a day, then I suggest you get him a friend to help with the loneliness. Just be careful though, they sometimes bond with each other and won’t want to come to you. Budgies can be hard to tame, but once you do have them tame they can be great birds!
yes! take out the mirror. becoming obsessed with their reflection it extremely unhealthy mentally for them. they will try to "mate" with the mirror and the the stress of getting "rejected" (aka not getting those signals back) will cause them to start plucking. once the mirror is taken out, you can replace the companionship that the mirror brought by bonding with the bird yourself. make sure that when you are petting the bird that all touches are only in the head area as petting other parts of the body will trigger the bird sexually and cause them to become sexually frustrated and more aggressive not only to you but the other people near you. try to handle him a few hours a day and eventually he will get used to your presence. when you are first handling him, unfortunately you will have to force him out of the cage. no they really dont like it but you got to do it as some birds will never come of the cage voluntarily. make sure you are gentle and predictable as to not startle the bird and to prevent a negative association with your presence from forming try giving him some of his favorite treats so that his experience with your company is a good one. eventually he will start coming out of the cage on his own and you can just pick him up from the top of the cage to start the interaction. of course this is only my individual taming tacit, i would of course recommend doing your own research to see what style is best suited for your personality, situation, and of course the personality of the bird himself.
Icy Dice thanks for the advise I recently took his mirror out and he’s been going out of his cage but yea he’s a very nice budgie but whenever I touch his stomach he gets angry I switch to petting him by his head, I have bought him Millet which he enjoys he gets outta his cage just to eat some.
My 9 months cocktail baby is making me stressful. No jocks when they started to screaming. But I love her soo much. She is only friend I have. She singing, telling some words, licking my face.. such a cute ball.
in the cockatiels food, i couldnt tell for sure, but where those sunflower seeds? Becuase sunflower seeds are "addicting" to cockatiels and they will onyl pick those out of their food and not get the full vitamins they need :/
They sure do like their sunflower seeds, but our 3 tiels eat a very varied diet. They don't single out sunflower seeds, but eat muesli pellets, mixed seeds, veggies and millet and they love to have a bit of everything. Our 2 budgies live with them and enjoy the same. None seem to single out the sunflower seeds. So maybe not always the case.
RazzBerry what’s the best combination of food for cockatiels? I’ve been trying to make sure my cockatiel gets the nutrients he needs but I see so many conflicting things online
Looks like the normal ‘don’t come near me’ response ( crest back, beak slightly ajar ). He was just uncomfortable and ready to nip if the person got too close.
I trained my quacker parrot to not bite me and trust me by always interacting with them. Now the green birdie hangs on my shoulder and even eats with me on the table with his own small plate of food.
Good job on saving this little guy! :) You're planning on getting him a female as a friend? I bet he would be very happy. (still watching the video btw but I wanted to express my happyness for this little guy real quick) I have 7 currently where I saved about 3-4 which are not tamed. I don't care about it since I just look at them and from time to time they pay me visits and walk around or even under my chair. 😄 Take care of him. Ringo (my dog is named Ringo, too) will have a long and wonderful life with you.
I think u should feed it something else then seeds bit its ur choice I have this food I feed to both of my cockatiels idk what it's called but it doesn't give them like certain poops
@@dennythebudgie I'm by no means an expert, but the consensus among avian vets seems to be that lettuce is toxic to cockatiels. Not to worry, there are plenty of other veggies they enjoy. My cockatiels love corn (in small amounts), or chillies which are super healthy for them. Good luck! ❤️
You should be only be feeding about 15 percent seeds. You should try to supplement with pellets. It takes work but he will live longer and be healthier. Seeds are like eating only cookies
@@bird7622 hi there! As a neighbor resident of Bosnia I can tell you: we don't have pellets here. And Amazon doesn't ship most stuff here. Ok I really need help with my budgies, I am trying to get them used to my hands by giving them Millet and putting seeds in my hands everyday but still they are not getting used to me, is it bc where I bought them from of the way I’m taming them?
Are your budgies young , most failed or not fully tame birds are that way because they are a little older and less susceptible to being tamed, this is why I presume by behaviours the cockatiel makes in this video the cockatiel was once tame or hand reared. So more than likely if your birds are a bit older then it’s because they are less susceptible and not that you are taming incorrectly ☺️
1Basic_Bitch one of my budgies is young and my other one is halfway there of being an Adult but the older one trust me a bit more then my other since I had him longer, he’s ok with stepping up but goes back to his cage, but now currently I’ve been trying to hand feed them and it’s going quite well my young bird got to the point of where she trusted me enough to step up to eat
this is so helpful! I'm about to get my next bird and its gonna be a cockatiel, i currently have a hand reared parrotlet and this time i'm ready to take the struggle of finding a baby cockatiel to be tamed! ringo is so cute! u did a really good job of taking care of him 😘
Thanks ❣
Thank you for rescuing him from his sad life! You have done a GREAT job taking him in. He is lucky to have you. And your budgies too! (I also have budgies and a cockatiel that I rescued)
I bet that Ringo's first reaction to hands was "hissss, wut da feathers is dis tingy? I no trust >:3..."
Feathered again in 30 days! All it takes is a little love, attention, and time! So much respect for you! I’ve been rescuing Exotic Birds for 15 years now and these stories never get old!
Ringo was so lucky to get such a patient owner.
Thank you for giving this cockatiel a loving home and life you amazing human being.
My bird doesn’t really trust anyone, he was with a lot of big birds (macaws and cockatoos) and he is a green cheeked conure so he was quite intimidated so I am just trying to gain his trust
Letho _ oh my what owner would put him with macaws! Wishing you the best with your bird, keep in mind it is a slow process that could take over a year
I have a hanz macaw and a green check conjure it’s a pain to get them to get along because the macaw is so much bigger and when they try and fight I know my macaw can hurt my conjure bad
Melina Nessari it is similar the conjure most of the times starts the fight or it’s just they see something as there territory like there individual cages but the problem I have is Loki my macaw will fight back and if he wanted to he could seriously hurt or kill kiwi the conjure
I just came upon your video this morning while having a cup of coffee ... it’s a lovely story and I wish you and Ringo and your other feathered friends much happiness ... greetings from Manitoulin Island 💕
Awww! 😀
Thank God, Minka and you for saving our newest member Ringo❤🐦
Yeah, she is so gentle to him 😁 Thanks btw.
Ringo has improved a lot and the feathers too,my cockatiel is 6 months old and is a white face
Thank you for giving this beautiful cockatiel a much much better home! You’re my hero. Thanks to your mom for saying you could take him home.
so cute! you’re such a sweet mommy for 🍎. love you🤍🥺
Thanks ❣
Es erfreut mich, wie sich liebe Menschen solch armen Kreaturen annehmen 😘
Ah poor thing had to go through that 🥺💖 thank you for giving him a good home
Yes🙌🏻🙌🏻✨
He seemed instantly more happier to be in the bigger cage, such a sweet brave baby
Its so good how ringo got used to the cage and his surroundings ❤Ringo and all budies are cute🐦❤
Birdies not budies
I just wanted to let you know that I loved your video. So much love and patience for little Ringo! I've been trying to take my cockatiels for a little over a year and I've learned so much watching this video. Thanks for sharing!
Oooo😝😝😝
Ringo is soo cute although his feathers are plucked,
I can't believe he has been on this condition 😔
But he's now in good hands😇😇😇
Wow, what a wonderful video. Your bird has certainly found a very caring mommy. Thank you for sharing.
You’re my hero! It is only people that have empathy that can understand the bird like you do. And what a great effort on making this video presentable and enjoyable like this. You are double talent. Thank u for doing this. Good Karma to u. 😁
This is such a heartwarming story! Thank you for sharing and treating Ringo so well! He will be a happy bird with you!!🌟🦜🙌🏻
Okay, I’m kinda concerned about how much he looks like my bird maverick. We found him while he was getting attacked by native birds, and we are taming him as well. This video has also been very helpful, thank you
Newest thank you for helping this poor cockatiel recover you're doing a good job. My cockatiel Pikachu is happy to see Ringo doing well
He sort of looks like Pikachu with his rosy cheeks ❤️
Koharu Hinata what I as thinking I commented should’ve named him pikachu
OMG IM SO HAPPY YOU GOT ANOTHER BIRD! I STILL LOVE HOW YOU STILL DO DENNY THE BUDGIE EVEN THO HE PASSED!
This even inspired me to get my own rescued birb!
This is exactly what I was thinking. Too much seeds and millet.
Seeds should be part of their daily diet.
Rosalee Salas seeds are a treat. While they eat seeds in the wild they work it off easily and don’t have as much as they would have at home. Birds don’t require seeds to live, it’s just something they can’t eat and find in the wild
Cece Kat That’s funny. They can’t find pellets either in the wild. Pellets are so processed that a really good seed mix is so much healthier.
Ringo looks like my bird oh ma gosh you are just so good with birds!
😊
just wanted to comment and say i used to own a cockatiel named ringo too!! your ringo is super adorable. what a sweet video.
He kicked the millet like a football. He is so cute
duh, birbs are the cutest animals
Dobar video nisam znala da će biti još ljudi koji jako vole ptice sa balkana, pozdrav iz Hrvatske😃
You should do a video answering people’s concerns and problems with their budgies. Kind of like an advice video
@@franziska551 shut up! What are you 2? You couldn't be more wrong!
@@carolhartley4448 apparently you know nothing about birds 😂 go ask a vet that's specialised on birds
That little guy is so cute. Feathers or not I would take him in a heartbeat. When I get a new pet, I tend take the one that is the most sickly. You are a good person, thanks for giving that little guy a second chance at life.
You're a budgie life saver❤️🕊❤️I love any types of budgies or bid just like you💕
4 likes and no suggestions sheeet thanks
Sorry for the late reply. You should definitely take out the mirror. It can become a real problem when they become obsessed with the mirror. It will not bother him if you take the mirror out if you are able to tame him. If you aren’t able to have him out for multiple hours in a day, then I suggest you get him a friend to help with the loneliness. Just be careful though, they sometimes bond with each other and won’t want to come to you. Budgies can be hard to tame, but once you do have them tame they can be great birds!
Here’s two suggestions: Talk to a vet and do some research.
yes! take out the mirror. becoming obsessed with their reflection it extremely unhealthy mentally for them. they will try to "mate" with the mirror and the the stress of getting "rejected" (aka not getting those signals back) will cause them to start plucking.
once the mirror is taken out, you can replace the companionship that the mirror brought by bonding with the bird yourself. make sure that when you are petting the bird that all touches are only in the head area as petting other parts of the body will trigger the bird sexually and cause them to become sexually frustrated and more aggressive not only to you but the other people near you. try to handle him a few hours a day and eventually he will get used to your presence. when you are first handling him, unfortunately you will have to force him out of the cage. no they really dont like it but you got to do it as some birds will never come of the cage voluntarily. make sure you are gentle and predictable as to not startle the bird and to prevent a negative association with your presence from forming try giving him some of his favorite treats so that his experience with your company is a good one. eventually he will start coming out of the cage on his own and you can just pick him up from the top of the cage to start the interaction.
of course this is only my individual taming tacit, i would of course recommend doing your own research to see what style is best suited for your personality, situation, and of course the personality of the bird himself.
Awwee this is so cute! ❤️❤️❤️
So cute. And you are so loving with him. Well done!
Ur not the only one that collects ur birds feathers😂
What a cute baby bird! Ringo is absolutely very sweet. You can tell Ringo's very nice. 😊
in the cockatiels food, i couldnt tell for sure, but where those sunflower seeds?
Becuase sunflower seeds are "addicting" to cockatiels and they will onyl pick those out of their food and not get the full vitamins they need :/
he started eating fruits and veggies I also got pellet for him 🥰
They sure do like their sunflower seeds, but our 3 tiels eat a very varied diet. They don't single out sunflower seeds, but eat muesli pellets, mixed seeds, veggies and millet and they love to have a bit of everything. Our 2 budgies live with them and enjoy the same. None seem to single out the sunflower seeds. So maybe not always the case.
Denny the Budgie that's great!! So glad Ringo found his way to you
@JapanesePeaceLilly I guess you don't need to worry xD
RazzBerry what’s the best combination of food for cockatiels? I’ve been trying to make sure my cockatiel gets the nutrients he needs but I see so many conflicting things online
Bless you and your birds. They are so lucky to have you as their parent. Wish you all the best.
4:42 did anyone else think it looked like he was gasping?
Looks like the normal ‘don’t come near me’ response ( crest back, beak slightly ajar ). He was just uncomfortable and ready to nip if the person got too close.
@@beetsmekid8821 It's called cockatiel hissing :> They normally do it when they're scared but idk why I find it so cute lol
Watching this with my cockatiel Filo.
We think you've given Ringo a lovely home and he will be such a happy borb now ❤🐥
Awww so cute! 💜I have 2 birds 💜
Really nice✨✨
Me too their names are jamrock and June june is a girl jamrock is a boy
ALP - 45 so cool!! 🙂
@@willyandolya3741 they are budgies
this is something that will help me out when and if I get a cockatiel of my own
I trained my quacker parrot to not bite me and trust me by always interacting with them. Now the green birdie hangs on my shoulder and even eats with me on the table with his own small plate of food.
Wow! Well done! He looks very better and happyer! What a translocation!😍💖🦜
Good job on saving this little guy! :) You're planning on getting him a female as a friend? I bet he would be very happy. (still watching the video btw but I wanted to express my happyness for this little guy real quick)
I have 7 currently where I saved about 3-4 which are not tamed.
I don't care about it since I just look at them and from time to time they pay me visits and walk around or even under my chair. 😄
Take care of him. Ringo (my dog is named Ringo, too) will have a long and wonderful life with you.
Nice to see how he is getting better and better each day.
I think u should feed it something else then seeds bit its ur choice I have this food I feed to both of my cockatiels idk what it's called but it doesn't give them like certain poops
He eats apple and lettuce, refuses to eat other foods
Sadly we are usually stuck with feeding them seeds except the occasional veggies and fruits (or fully on a diet of fruit and veg)
Trust me, I tried ordering and we get somewhat better Internet delivery service here in Croatia but they sill wouldn't deliver. That's how it is sadly, not everyone has variety available
Harrison's brand pellets 😁
You are so kind and gentle...Bless your heart!
Awe so cute!!!❤

Ok I really need help with my budgies, I am trying to get them used to my hands by giving them Millet and putting seeds in my hands everyday but still they are not getting used to me, is it bc where I bought them from of the way I’m taming them?
Same I have a cockatiel that was bought from a bird store I followed every step but still he is scared when I near him
Hi! I recommend following Parrot Volancy on Instagram. She has a good budgie taming instruction video through Patreon. Good luck!
Deliana tysm!
You're a great man! I'd be lying if I told you I didn't cry while watching this! You're the best!
do u take ur bird outside to introduce him from environment.

this is so helpful! I'm about to get my next bird and its gonna be a cockatiel, i currently have a hand reared parrotlet and this time i'm ready to take the struggle of finding a baby cockatiel to be tamed! I'm genuinely so excited for them, i;ve had so many other successful birds and rehomed them to families who wanted birds that are brought up in a friendly environment! they are all doing well! I'm so glad people can realise birds are not for display but rather friends/companions for life! Thank you for bringing this topic to light
