Truly don't believe new owners know how much time is required to keep them healthy and happy. Require much more attention than even that of a cat or a dog. An opinion.
You can see the gentle loving nature this poor boy has despite what he may have gone thru. Chance might be a good name for him.. because he deserves a second one xx
People need to stop buying into the myth that you need a baby to bond with. Adult birds will bond with people perfectly fine. I prefer older birds, they are done being bratty teenagers and have settled into their personality more when they are older.
I'm sorry to say this and believe me I love animals and love birds but I don't believe that adult birds are open to bonding 9/10 chances you'll get one that'll love human interaction like they do with birds
April, in a world where negativity is what we seem to hear about most, it is nice to remember that there are wonderful people like you and Victoria who put your words into action. These two, poor, gorgeous babies have a new beginning, away from the selfish, evil they were used to.🥰👀👀🥰
Some people are just totally disgusting and shouldn't have any kind of animal. Then there's you.... their savior, their voice, their hero, an Angel. Love you April and all the best for Victoria.
It makes me hate humans to think about what is happening to birds. I’m so glad that their is people like you April who use their own personal time and resources to help improve the lives of parrots. Name suggests: Harrison Juniper Apolo Ferb : D
Thank you for helping these birds! They are so delicate and need the toys and interaction you giving them! Hope the hoarders were jailed for their total neglect!
I look out my window and I see a flock of these, flying together, chattering happily in a tree. Seeing them abused, neglected, hoarded in tiny cages... it’s heart breaking Thank you for everything you are doing ❤️
I love all birds but cockatoo's are my favorite. I don't even mind the screening. Just looking into their eyes and I fall in love with them. My sulfur crested cockatoo fallows me everywhere. Niko is so adorable and I can tell he is a really sweet bird. It really irritates me when people just give up on animals. Especially birds, they scream for a reason. I think if someone is thinking about getting a bird they need to visit a rescue and spend some time there. They need to see and hear what they are getting into.
Jamie Carballo - I’m a Moluccan mama. I adore Cockatoos like you do. I believe it should be a law and required to spend time volunteering and working at parrot rescue before being licensed to keep a parrot !!!! Absolutely 😳👍🏼
@@annalisa14 I completely agree I took in a 12 year old male umbrella cockatoo with an unknown history off a guy online. He didn’t even last a year with him and didn’t know anything about his previous life except that he bought it off “Some Guy” ..so here’s me with absolutely zero bird experience seeing all the cute and adorable RUclips videos and boy did I not know what I was getting into!! They are literally the equivalent of a screaming three-year-old funny moody toddler that needs tons of attention and daily naps. I am a huge animal lover and we are going on year three and the screaming/bi polar mood swings is still a challenge but you learn to feel their moods and energy and they are very sensitive to ours ..so just try to find a balance of their wants versus their needs ...sometimes they just want to sit there and look at you lol so I have to tell my guy when I’m leaving the room or all hell breaks loose and sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to the screaming he just seems to enjoy it! I swear my whole family has developed internal ear plugs to protect our hearing loll he also turns into a screaming devil pigeon to let us know when strangers are coming to the house or basically anybody is walking through the door that he doesn’t know personally... i’m not one for unexpected visitors anyway so it’s perfect lol AND we love him dearly.... you can see him on my channel ..🙏🦜😍
What a sweetheart! I watch mr max and Dan all the time. Im glad he posts. A vicarious cockatoo for a few minutes every day or so is much more realistic for my lifestyle. I wish people would stop purposefully breeding most animals. So many need love and help!
You are my hero. Thank you. I have thought about getting a cockatoo for the last year. I had no idea this abuse and abandonment was going on. I WILL RESCUE AN ADULT BIRD ONLY and thank you for educating me and others. You rock.
My prayers for these two to recover with much love and hugs. Makes me cry for them. But with your care and love and prayers that they will recover and have a good life. Cynthia (and Angel Quaker Parrot too)
I rescued breeder cockatoo. It took me a year to get her not scared of a stick or anything. But now she is so lovable I wouldn't trade her for anything
I have been with my rose breast cockatoo for 22 years now. She's never been in an enclosed cage with me but I've come to the conclusion that no bird, unless under extreme circumstances, should ever be kept as a pet. Especially since Lola will definitely outlive me. So thank you to the team helping these poor creatures that haven't had the care they deserve.
I tried to adopt one at our rescue shelter which is over crowded and they wanted $1,000. That's just like buying one. I just wanted to help. I told them I can't just drop that much but I can provide a loving home and feed it and give it love and attention since I'm a stay at home mom. They wouldn't budge. It broke my heart because I was set on helping at least one bird. Its sad just seeing all of them just sitting in those cages. Its not just owners its shelters charging a huge amount to rescue and give a good home to any of those birds. You guys are great and its nice to see where are people like you out there🙏❤💙💚💜💛🕊🕊🕊🕊
How awful that Niko was the only bird they left behind. He must of been so scared by himself. Thank God Victoria came to rescue him and the dog. Thank you April for helping her. You will be Blessed for all you do for these sweet birds!
As I watch all the amazing videos that people post of their birds I often think how many people will want to get a bird. It saddens me to think any animal doesn't receive all the love and care they need.
@parrot lover no I certainly haven't given up... But I'm thinking someone has him. So I'm now offering a reward for his return. Fingers crossed... I miss him so much.
Oh, how sad. When I was young I had a parakeet that flew away. I put her cage on my bicycle and drove around the neighborhood. I couldn't see her up in the tree, but she flew down and opened the door to her cage. I hope and pray your Blu comes home. Don't mean to set your hopes up, but Blu could be in he neighborhood.
No!! Have you content 911 parrot alert on Facebook? You will need to offer a reward worth more than Blu! How many days has Blu been missing? Send me a flyer and I will post it on social media. @parrotplayhouse@gmail.com 💚🙏
3 years ago my grey flew away in spite of a reward I never got him back I feel your pain, but my vet told me after a few days cold in the trees they get hungry and when they see a human they come down and approach him enough said I just hope it was a good human
The Vet seems awesome. I know Vets see the worst of people and pets. I really want to learn the toweling method. I’ve found that the more time I can play with him the quieter he ends up being the other times. He also loves to snuggle and go crazy playing and being silly. That all being said.. I’m his 3rd home and he also has been in two pet stores. His first 10 years have been good and hard. He will be with me for the rest of whoever passes firsts, life. It was a bit painful for the last owner. They really loved him. The husband worked all day and the wife did several stay at home mom/ home businesses. She was having troubles with how loud he can get when she’s busy. It caused her and the parrot a lot of anxiety. Paired with family trauma it just got to be too much. The husband used to cuddle with him for a bit at bedtime and once I earned that time with him it’s been an amazing journey. I still get yelled at if I’m not in the same room, and that first month I bled a lot!! Learning his like dislikes and his trust. I can fall asleep with him and know I will wake up and he will have been cuddled up sleeping as well. It’s hard to be a Umbrella Cockatoo owner and the only way you can be prepared for it is to have several other loud birds for a good while. That’s not to say you won’t be a good match for one. Just please go to a rescue. Volunteer for a few weeks and if you still want one adopt one. They don’t need to be a baby to bond with them. And most of the time those babies are harder because they have to learn a lot more and it can be hard. Best of luck to all Parrot rescuers, owners and ambassadors
I want to get a baby beacuse i want to help mold its personality teach it how to speak and fly to me on command as well as i want a suoer cuddly bird and thats much easier to do with a baby. Though i do get what ur saying. I am buying from a rescue though that iv visited and they are all really nice and care for their parrots well they actully have a cockatoo who is SUPER sweet and cuddly
gymnastics with Hailey on RUclips, just be ready. Even a baby doesn’t mean it will develop only what you want. And some can be worse than any rescue. a young Parrot under 10yrs old might have been through basic training, and easier to handle due to the life they have lived. Either way. Go the rescue route if you can. Best of luck.
gymnastics with Hailey on RUclips / yes Hailey, please try volunteering at parrot rescue FIRST ! Talk with them about your baby desires while you work with other older parrots 🦜. Please volunteer. I believe all parrot lovers need to spend about a year volunteering at parrot rescues. I’m looking into it and also into raptor rescue and release. Birds are my life.
Wow. Looks like these birds truly love cuddles, and can even feel extra safe in the arms of a human. Horrible how so many people buy animals almost like they're buying another object. Then the purchase excitement wears off, or something else changes, and the animal suffers. I'd love to have heaps of pets if/when I have the time, resources and education to competently care for them all.
I'm glad they were saved! I have 12 fids, and 11 are rescue/surrenders! My last rescue just happens to be an U2! His name is Reggie and hes 8yo! Hes been bounced around from 4 homes, already! I met him, and he bonded with me, right away!!
I absolutely love this bird. It's my dream to adopt a rescue cockatoo but i can't do that in my current situation. I visited a rescue to volunteer there, but they are enforcing wing clipping (it is a must for them. They have classes that the volunteers give on how to take care of parrots and they present clipping as the only option) while i'm against it, and it has me in a moral dilemma (volunteer and go against something i'm passionate about, or let it stop me from volunteering)... the shelter is a 2 hour drive from my place and i have found no other bird shelter in my area...what would be your advice? Anyway, you obviously put a lot of work into this rescue, thank you so much!💚
see my post; I have loved greys, macaws and mow a moluccan cockatoo. My advise to you is do not adopt one the needs of this bird in captivity are high they scream for 30 mins morning and night as they call to the flock. Remember you can take the bird out of the wild but you cant take the wild out of the bird. If you want to adopt a bird I would suggest an amazon or maybe one of the mini macaws they are not as demanding as the cockatoo family
@@gr8macaw1 thanks for your advise. I would only want a rescue one, and would never adopt a baby from a breeder, so it would just be offering a hopefully good home to a bird in need. I think birds are not meant to be in people's home so i won't encourage the business. I just have a strong afinity for the cockatoo family.
Thank you for sharing the previous video with Puffy. Glad to know I'm not alone with the swiftly shifting moods. My GCC has been acting similar as of late.
Just love your channel. I'm not a bird person, been afraid of parrots me whole life. But I know people buy them (like so many other animals)knowing nothing about care or their needs. Just wonderful to see these rescues, and you teaching viewers behavior. Gorgeous animals.🥰
We need to STAND TOGETHER & FIGHT! We need to shut down the breeders until ALL of our shelters are EMPTY! ADOPT! DON'T SHOP!! Only WE CAN MAKE THE CHANGE! ❤💋❣❤💋❣
This lovely guy is definitely a Lucky. He is so calm and sweet that all parrots are going to like him. He is not going to become a problem, but an asset. Yes, I would call him lucky, and I hope that he is going to be a happy and healthy guy in the future.
I like the name 'Hero' and that's what this little guy is a Hero!! He needs a strong name he can grow into while working on his courage and new freedoms.
I started crying the second I saw those sweet eyes. I have a macaw and he brings me joy every single day. I'd love to rescue a cockatoo when the opportunity comes along one day. Hopefully sooner than later! ♥️♥️♥️
Thank God for people like you. The world needs more people like you. This bird is so sweet.I hope these birds get a happy home and be loved forever. The person who abandoned these birds should be arrested and never be allowed to own animals. Cockatoos are so sweet and huggable.
When I saved my sparrow I had to do a lot of research the vet was amazed at him and he cannot be released but these videos are so important for people so thank you!
Just lost my 18 year old cockatiel Joon last weekend. I'm heartbroken:( Saving for a new baby. But I miss her so much. Watching your show helped me through her last year soooo much!💜💜💜💜She faught so hard. She was also a victim, abandoned twice. Once on the side of the road. We loved her and her mate so much.

I'm not a bird person, been afraid of parrots me whole life.
But I know people buy them (like so many other animals)knowing nothing about care or their needs.
Just wonderful to see these rescues, and you teaching viewers behavior.
Gorgeous animals.🥰
Thank you so much. Education is the only way we are going to Stop The Parrot Crisis. So thankful RUclips gives us a platform to get the word out. 💚
We need to STAND TOGETHER & FIGHT! We need to shut down the breeders until ALL of our shelters are EMPTY!
ADOPT! DON'T SHOP!!
Only WE CAN MAKE THE CHANGE!

Sounds good to me! I💚🙏
Oh nice he has a good home with YOUUU T.Y..FOR UR RESCUE HIMMMMMMM
This lovely guy is definitely a Lucky. He is so calm and sweet that all parrots are going to like him. He is not going to become a problem, but an asset. Yes, I would call him lucky, and I hope that he is going to be a happy and healthy guy in the future.
Well done Victoria for taking on Niko, especially being a cockatoo. A small donation sent, I hope it helps x
Thank you! I will let her know you comment here. Victoria is amazing! Niko, Bella and Mango have a loving bird mom! 💚🙏
I like the name 'Hero' and that's what this little guy is a Hero!! He needs a strong name he can grow into while working on his courage and new freedoms.

Thank you for everything!
Thank you for watching 💚🙏🏼
I started crying the second I saw those sweet eyes. I have a macaw and he brings me joy every single day. I'd love to rescue a cockatoo when the opportunity comes along one day. Hopefully sooner than later! ♥️♥️♥️
And yes, my macaw is a rescue. He came to me at 4 years old ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Prince..... he’s adorable 😢
Thank goodness there are good people still left in this world to rescue these poor animals. Thank you for your service! 💖
I am so thankful Victoria rescued this Cockatoo 💚💚
Thank God for people like you. The world needs more people like you. This bird is so sweet.I hope these birds get a happy home and be loved forever. The person who abandoned these birds should be arrested and never be allowed to own animals. Cockatoos are so sweet and huggable.
Thank you for watching Lois. We love you💚🙏
When I saved my sparrow I had to do a lot of research the vet was amazed at him and he cannot be released but these videos are so important for people so thank you!
Faith because y’all had faith in this beautiful bird❤️
God bless you guys for finding and helping these birds, so they can have a chance to live❤️
Aww thank you! You are an angel!
Thank you for saving these precious babies!!💜💜💜
OMG!! He's such a good boy. I hope he ends up with an awesome person he can connect with and be HAPPY!
Thanks for loving and caring for animal welfare, April. We should all look up to you. You should name him Kibo which means hope in Japanese.
Kibo is a beautiful name with a beautiful meaning. Thank you💚🙏
That is awful. I cannot stand people who get pets and just neglect them. These are wild tropical animals who need the utmost care.
Hi there Niko, I am so sorry for what happened to you, I hope you will be able to heal and find joy love and comfort in your new home lots of love and blessings from your fan Sean ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💙💙💙💙💙💙🙏🙏🙏🙏

Such a great vet!!
Last time I took my parrot in, there was a new vet there and she had more colorful hair than him 😂 he was a bit freaked out about it (and her many piercings) the expression on his face was priceless.
Thank you for being so awesome. Truly an example of what we as a species should strive for.
