  • In this video Corin is working on some Cedar bonsai so we catch up with him in the studio. Cedar can make brilliant bonsai subjects when styled and can be really quite rewarding. All the trees in this video have been styled from nursery stock cedar bonsai with one being brought from eBay !! Check that video out below.

    Awesome to see a large Blue atlas. And that alternative front puts that lower branch at the rear and adds a lot of additional depth which makes it seem a lot more mature. Also nice "Rust brown" Spinnaker :)

    Do appreciate the follow-ups on trees in various stages of development. Beautiful work. Appreciate your very personal, understated, matter-of-fact manner of presentation. In the States but hope to visit. Best from Boston.

    Corin sei un fuoriclasse!👏👏👏
    Potresti dirmi il cedro a quale altra conifera usata nel bonsai come ad esmpio pini , abeti
    o altro si avvicina nel modo in cui deve essere trattato nelle
    potature e nel trattare gli aghi ?Grazie

    Yes the other side of the blue atlas does look much nicer. There’s often more than one option in bonsai. Looking forward to see what you decide to do with it. Great video btw 👍🏻

    Corin-here in the US it is almost impossible to find these cedars without grafts at the base and the same appears true for the UK where it seems Hinoki cypress are almost always grafted. On the Hinoki the graft always seems to result in a disfigurement with a largely overgrown base below the graft junction. How are the Blue Atlas cedar in this respect? Do they show this disparity between the base and trunk or do they develop at about the same rate and eventually the graft union disappears under the bark? I have wanted one of these for years but always held back due to this issue.

    • @greenwoodbonsaistudio
      @greenwoodbonsaistudio  Год назад

      As with all grafted trees, you get good ones that stay good, bad ones that get better and bad ones that stay bad !
