Many pkmn have similar sounds for memory optimization reasons, btw some are the same signals but changed a bit (length, tonality, ending for technical reasons, aso.)
it happens with a bunch of pokemons. metapod does gastly's cry too when redbar is playing, same for magneton, while mew and parasect kinda sound like starmie and vulpix sounds like graveler. since gen1 cries are just variations of the same little bank of cries, redbar can distort a bunch of them to sound like others.
I'm confused... at the beginning, the only fight he had was against Pikachu. no other. All pokemons used stringshot or useless stuff. If they attack, they didnt hit. I mean, is this run full of luck, or this there an option to have inpact if they hit or not and what kind of ability they use?
This TAS uses EXTREMELY HEAVY RNG manipulation. This mainly involves using a script to run through every possible game state, and choosing the best one. Every single one of those moves that were used that dealt no damage/missed were specifically chosen by going through each frame and finding the right series of inputs to create that result. The only times you see him take damage is to drop into red health. The repeating beeps allow you to skip Pokémon cries and text box noises. Hope that helped to explain it a bit ^^'
Exploits aren't necessarily glitches. Redbar and the instant text from the bike shop are also defined as exploits abused to save time, just like with the Poké Doll. The devs did not intend the Poké Doll to be used in this manner, but that doesn't make it a glitch since it doesn't break the game.
